Her smile faltered slightly. "Over a year." It had been a very long time for Zelda and she was glad that her loftwing was with her through most of that time. She wouldn't have been able to do so alone.

Zelda almost rather he ask about her home or the large unusual bird. It's by far an easier topic but even before seeing his reaction she quickly added to her statement.
