Chrom couldn't help chuckling. He had thought she might like being treated to a meal back in the city, but this was fine. Actually, it was better. The sky was their ceiling, the grass their floor. It was rare to spend time together one-on-one like this, and he was grateful for the opportunity.
"You never complain," he smiled, sheathing his sword and finding himself a rock of his own so they could begin to dine.
He unfastened the flap of his large leather belt pouch, moving aside the vials of antidotes and potions to find the dried strips of beef and wrinkled fruits he'd wrapped in a thin green handkerchief. There were two chunks of yellow cheese as well, one of which he handed to Robin along with half of the fruit and jerky.
"How long have you been in this world, Robin?" he asked, holding one of the dried meat strips between his fingers. "You seem to navigate these plains with little difficulty. It's as if the circumstances of our first meeting were reversed."
