Any doubt that the SOLDIER didn't recognize him vanished once Sephiroth fully turned to face him. He still wasn't sure what he planned to do, but Rufus didn't intend to lower his guard down. Well, it probably wouldn't do much if he was completely honest, but if he was going to be attacked, Rufus wanted to at least be expecting it.
"And I'm sure that you're more accustomed to that little fact than most." Rufus still held his amusement even as the former hero stared at him. Hojo's experiment; raised by his company to be a soldier that surpassed everyone else. It worked, but it pretty much backfired on all of them in the end. "However, you're far different from when I last heard of you."
In a way, it was a little odd to be conversing with Sephiroth like this. While they met several times in the past, Rufus was still rather young when he 'perished' at Nibelheim. From then on, he never really confronted Sephiroth himself-- Kadaj was the closest he got. He wasn't complaining though.
