1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.

2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.

3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.

4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.

5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.

7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.

9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility, or maybe you'd like to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Or how about participating in Christmas at Crystallis or fighting in a war for the warriors among you?

13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

foodchaining: Sphere pointing its on (Sphere pointing its on)

Recoiling back in shock from the spell -- she whips around to face the threat -- the tug at her weapon that makes her realize it's stuck makes her feel at once vulnerable and furious.

Twirling, she slams the palm of one hand into the body of her lance, following up with a kick as close to the ice prison as possible at hilt of her beloved weapon. It breaks free as shards spew every which way.

Walking forwards, arm held out to the side with the weapon pointed out as though it were an extension of herself. Crimson eyes narrowed. Funny, normally she was the rude one. She does not bother offering up a reply since in her eyes Terra attacked first. A challenge.

The newly fledged Dragoon takes to the air, slicing down with her lance at the green haired girl with Jump.

Terra fell back some, she wasn’t going to attack the new hero but she wasn’t going to let her hurt others either. A thin scratch appeared on Terra’s right arm after she attempts to stumble away from the attack. She has some skills mastered though none of them are exceedingly quick.

Tempest, Terra’s moogle, flew between them with her hands on her hips. ”What do you think you are doing, kupo? Just attacking people in the city! It’s not very lady like and where is your moogle young lady!” Terra blinked for a few seconds before casting cure on her arm. She had never heard her moogle pull out that sort of tone and it’s obvious that Tempest might have taken care of children at one point or another.

Terra was still on guard but she was on the defensive. She prepped a shield spell or to grab Tempest by her scarf to pull the little fur ball out of the way should the girl choose to attack again.

What was going on with her?! Barley a scratch? Kyoko had noticed it earlier as well - when going after the Hypello. True, she'd started after it from a distance, but she should have been on it in an instant. She was weaker, slower. When the other magical girl cast such a strong spell her way, she knew she must be running really low on magic, and was in trouble - but she would not walk away from such an insult, simply because it might mean her death.

When Tempest flies at her, the lance crosses in front of her, tip held out defensively. She's clearly expecting an attack. A physical one. Not the verbal berating that ensues. The redhead doesn't strike at the moogle, staying on the defensive, but offering a completely befuddled look.

Sentences. Those were definately full sentences. It still had that verbal kupo tick, but it was really talking! Not a mess of distorted sort of talking nonsense like that blue familiar!

Her expression switched from confusion to irritation quickly on a Gil, "Hey wait, she attacked me first! Don't come chiding to me about manners when you come at me in my face like that you flying rat! What's a moogle?!"

"I'm sorry." Terra took a small step forward, her hand resting over her heart. "I just stopped you from attacking the man over there." She meant the Hypello. "I wasn't aiming at you." If she had been aiming to attack the girl, Terra wouldn't have missed and she would have used a much stronger spell.

Tempest, for all her patience, gave the girl a mothers scolding look. "See? Kupo. It's all a misunderstanding because you started to attack people at random. Now put down your spear before we call the police, kupo and come have a cup of tea with us to chat. Tea was always Tempest's favorite thing to drink and after the stress of this meeting she'll need a cup.

Terra didn't really understand either but she didn't want to fight. Fighting, wasn't really something she was comfortable with but if Kyoko continued to attack those she saw as friends then she'd have no choice.

At Terra's step forwards, Kyoko moves as if to rush in and strike - only to pull back suddenly. Had the motion not been accompanied by an apology, the young magical girl would have tried to cut her down. She was not about to hesitate and wind up dead. Those words were the last thing she was expecting, she draws back. Some of the tension in the air eases.

"Person? What the hell kind of a person was that?" At the demand from the winged companion, the red clad girl instead twirled the weapon one...two...three times in an antagonizing display before slamming the bottom back down on the ground, through the whole ordeal, Kyoko looks Tempest straight in the eyes.

Like she was going to listen to some floating marshmallow tell her what to do.

Only...tea...probably would also mean.

Food, right?

The lance finds its way into the clasps sideways across her back, one hand moving to hold the opposite arm.

"Alright, fine."

”It’s a Hypello, Kupo and just because they don’t look like you doesn’t make them bad.” Tempest didn’t stand for that sort of ignorance, even in new heroes. It was mean and very unkind.

A smile pulled at Tempest’s lips as she turned back towards Terra. ”I will get tea and snacks started then. Can you guide her to the shop?” Terra nodded letting Tempest fly ahead of them and get things ready. She looked at Kyoko with a nervous smile.

“I’m sorry.” Mostly about the confusion but also for Tempest’s firmness, “The shop is this way.” She turned gesturing for the young girl to follow. It wasn’t far. Terra rarely travels far from her shop or her home. There were times when she’d take a walk around the park or just outside the city to collect flowers but that was the extent to Terra’s adventures.

“My name is Terra.”

If it works for you we can just handwave the explanation

[personal profile] foodchaining 2015-09-12 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
There's a noncommittal shrug of the shoulders, "It always did before." As much as she has a million retorts to follow with, they don't come. Not when there might be snacks.

An eyebrow rose at Terra's nervous smile. "You apologize too much." That would be the closest the redhead would come to saying it was fine. As for a sorry for her part in the confusion, that was the furthest thing from her mind.

The spear wielder fell in step as they headed towards the shop,

"Kyoko Sakura. Glad we didn't kill each other."
greenmagick: (Not really happy)

Yeah! That'd be awesome lol

[personal profile] greenmagick 2015-09-13 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Terra smiled softly at her choice of words. She's been told that she apologizes too much and she's been trying to stop. It's a hard habit to break.

"Me too." She didn't much care for fighting anyway.

Her feet whispered over the ground as she walked, her arms at her sides as they continue forward. It isn't a very long walk to the shop and as soon as they arrive the smells of hot tea, flowers and cookies surrounded them. Terra gestured towards the back of the store where a small garden table and chairs were set up. Tempest was already there floating around with tea and cookies for their guests.

"Have a seat, kupo."

Terra smiled at her friend. "Thank you Tempest."

[personal profile] foodchaining 2015-09-13 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Kyoko wouldn't really admit to herself she was likely doomed had the fight continued, still. Terra had to be incredibly powerful. The cocky veteran had never actually met a fellow fighter who truly reached adulthood. Of course -- she had every intention of doing so herself. It was nice to see. Someone had managed it.

Looking around at the flower filled garden, she bites a pronounced canine into her lip. Coming from Japan, the girl's idea of tea is a lot more subdued. Kyoko takes the indicated seat, shifting her spear so it leans against the chair. With all the bizarre inexplicable things that she just experienced -- she feels a bit like Alice in wonderland at the teaparty. Perhaps she's simply dreaming.

But then why is it so girly, ugh. She's so out of place.

Kyoko tries to avoid looking at Tempest -- especially since it would mean looking at those cookies. In the end she can't help it though, and is staring at the plate in the moogle's paw.
greenmagick: (affecrion)

[personal profile] greenmagick 2015-09-13 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Tempest smiled placing the plate in front of Kyoko. She liked feeding others and that included young girls who didn't ask for it but clearly wanted it. "Have as many as you'd like, kupo.

Terra had a weak spot for those younger than her as well though she full recognizes Kyoko as an adult. She had a look in her gaze that suggested that she was used to fighting. Thin fingers carefully pour tea, placing the steaming up in front of her guest. "I make tea here, so let me know if you like it."

Terra will continue to tell her some about Crystallis, saying things as they come to mind. Tempest chimes in a few times with information she felt that her hero left out. It wasn't everything but it was enough to get an idea of this world.
foodchaining: FOOD yummhy (FOOD yummy)

[personal profile] foodchaining 2015-09-14 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Diving into the cookies with enthusiasm at the offer, Kyoko stuffs her face with a speed that rivals people at competitive eating competitions. Crumbs soon glitter one cheek as they might a small child.

GULP "These are good!"

Glancing to the cup before her at Terra's comment, the redhead pulls herself away from the food. Lifting the porcelain up a bit awkwardly for a sip. "Um. It's nice." She doesn't sound insincere, just distracted. Her eyes are unabashedly still on those treats. Forcing a few more attempting to be polite muddled by impatience sips, before diving back into them.

And yet, when the explanation starts - she stopped eating. Half eaten cooking just lingering in the air, crumbs still on her face. The redhead just stared the whole time.

Her expression grows hard, she's furious. Though her anger doesn't seem to be directed at those before her, "What the hell?! You're telling me this place kidnaps people, on top of that- makes us weak! Then expects us to fight for them? Without even offering us anything in return? What kind of joke is that? Are we all like slaves then in gladiator pits? What fool would even be willing to fight for someone who did that to them?"
greenmagick: (huh)

[personal profile] greenmagick 2015-09-14 04:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Terra didn't seem bothered by her manors. She was patient, her voice soft any time she spoke. Kyoko was unlike anyone she knew and because of that she found the girl interesting. She wonder how she might view the world around her though the answer to that question quickly became apparent.

"Yes." Terra's grateful for the weakness, Crystallis is the only place where her powers might not lose control.

"I do know that the only way to find our way home is to defeat the Calamity." Though Terra wasn't convinced of that. She didn't like fighting and tried her best to stay out of things but the more she learned the more she doubted that they'd return.

Kyoko had moved to sit off kilter on her seat, one leg skewed to the side. An arm was draped carelessly across the table as she against her elbow, focusing on a ring adorning the opposite hand.

No way home. What did it matter. Whole lot of nothing for her in both places. "You're not..." The same. Terra wasn't a magical girl, she should have noticed the lack of a soul gem ring when the green haired magic wielder had poured her tea. Those damn cookies. So much for finding someone who reached maturity. Or used her brain. Really who stayed transformed to have tea?

Weak, all over again? After having some of her magic taken away in the past and going off to die, fighting tooth and nail to survive. To be ripped down to the bottom again. Was this...more punishment?

No...surely it couldn't be that bad. Not again.

There's a shrug, as if the new arrival just rolled everything off her shoulders. "Doesn't matter. I'm not fighting for them, I only fight for myself. I don't care about getting back."

Terra didn’t react to the girls words. She carefully sipped her tea after blowing the steam away with a steady breath. She could easily understand not wanting to go home though she had no idea what sort of place the young girl lived in. Terra feared returning to her own world and the horrors there.

“I don’t want to go home either.”

She carefully placed down her cup looking at one of the flowers that had just begun to bud. “There isn’t anything for me there.” Deep down she felt as if that’s why she didn’t want to fight. She didn’t want to return to the world of her nightmares but she also didn’t want to force everyone else to stay here.

Terra feared what she was but in Crystallis she could be someone else.

Her mind made up to give as little of a damn as possible, Kyoko had returned to idly munching at the cookies. Absentmindedly spinning the ring on her finger, her gaze had wandered away. At Terra's words, red eyes flicker back to regard the woman a brief moment. Kyoko could guess well enough what was meant by having nothing.

Orphan of course, but also. No friends. Not many people would choose that. Maybe they just all bit it or, maybe Terra was like Mami. She averts her eyes almost as quickly as they rose to meet Terra's glance.

"Well." Suddenly chomping away faster, like a chocobo nervously chewing at the bit, the new arrival polishes off the last of the treats. "Just because you had nothing doesn't mean you could have never made something." Trying to be nice was really irritating.

"So. You ought to be really pissed about it." Better. Why though, why was she saying to be mad. When it's always easier if you can just not care.

Would everyone here have nothing? Did they fight their battles with the people no one would miss, if they did that...

Eh.

If they did that so what...

It was people's choice to put their neck on the line or not. At least no one's little sister would be crying. Maybe it was better to take the nothings.

Terra looked up, surprised at Kyoko's comment. She didn't remember saying that she had nothing and for the first time she wondered if it was obvious. Did she look like the lost little girl she saw on the battle field? She was determined to move forward but each step was a trial.

"I don't think being angry will change things... it's only ever pushed people away." She remembered her other form and each distrustful look that was cast her way. "They'll see me as a monster..." The words slipped from her lips before she could stop them.

"..."

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.." She hadn't meant to make things more awkward.

Terra looked down at the empty try of snacks. She was glad that Kyoko ate and she tried to remember if they had more. "Are you still hungry? We might have more."
foodchaining: indifferent (indifferent)

[personal profile] foodchaining 2015-09-27 06:38 am (UTC)(link)
Saying there wasn't anything in Terra's whole world worth going back to had made it clear Terra had nothing, Kyoko had recognized merely because she was someone with nothing -- no one herself. That's the only reason she had no will to fight to return, the only reason she could see someone not wanting to.

She was about to say there was no reason to be angry at the other people here who were no more than prisoners themselves, instead there's just a, "Huh?"

Monster, eh? Zombies were monsters, Kyoko was a monster. Who knows what this woman was or gave up. Maybe they were even the same. She'd stared at her soul across the room, aware she was nothing more than an animated corpse. Kyoko was straight out of a horror flick.

"If they see you as a monster, screw em. Why should you care what people like that think?"

Kyoko just shakes her head, both at the apology and the question, "You really do say you're sorry too much. You didn't do anything wrong."
greenmagick: (Sad Story)

[personal profile] greenmagick 2015-09-27 10:43 am (UTC)(link)
Except that Terra was a monster. She's killed so many people, slaughtered villages in the name of some mad man. When she returned home she'd be hated and once again become a puppet for the Empire. She couldn't say as much but it was hard for her to just ignore everything she's done.

She thought she was a monster. She feared her own power and having those powers taken away from her in Crystallis was the only reason she could be something more than a monster.

"It's lonely." Not caring what others think, being completely and totally alone. She didn't want to be like that anymore. It hurt.

As Kyoko had harmed people for personal gain, allowed familiars to devour people until grief seeds could be harvested all for the sake of her own survival. The magical girl may well fit the bill as well for all she did not look the part, she may be more of a monster between the two, while harmless looking - the violence the girl had sewn had been enacted of her own will.

"There's worse things than being alone." Slipping from the table, a booted foot finds its way to the ground as she prepares to leave. She has to try to believe what she says, the memory of Sayaka shaming her behavior and turning away when the girl had bore her soul for the first time in years is too fresh on her mind.

"Like being dead."

greenmagick: (Art)

[personal profile] greenmagick 2015-09-28 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"There are worse things than being dead."

That much she knew. Terra had been used, mistreated and then control by others for her whole life. If she had feelings she was sure she'd have wished for death if she had been allowed to feel anything.

She turned as Kyoko stood watching as the girl aimed to leave. She wasn't going to stop her but she hoped that she might be okay. She can tell that Kyko was in pain.

"I hope you don't have to experiance either while you are here."

The younger girl had already turned away, and was starting to leave, but pauses at the statement.

"Are there?" Her faith, which she quietly clung to. What she'd caused to happen with her wish.., there was only one place for her when she died. It was part of why she fought so savagely to stay alive. She knew she would never find redemption.

"If you're really a monster." She turns her head sideways just enough to get a glance of Terra in her peripheral vision, "Just what kind of place do you think the universe has carved out for you when you die?"

Turning away again, her ponytail shakes. She'd already lost everything -- and it was her own fault. Nothing could compare to that pain. Besides, what did this woman care. And why the hell was she sticking around. She walks away, without so much as thanking Terra for the information or food. She does raise a hand slightly though,

"Stay alive."

Terra's eyes lowered finding a spot on the floor to stare at. She had no idea what sort of place she'd find when she died. She feared her other self and she knows of the countless that she's killed. There will be no salvation in death.

"You too."

Terra looked up after Kyoko's comment, watching the girl leave her shop. Her heart twisted in pain and she wasn't able to tell why. She knew that she didn't want to die and she knew that the young girl who just left must also feel the same.
