1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.

2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.

3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.

4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.

5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.

7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.

9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility, or maybe you'd like to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Or how about participating in Christmas at Crystallis or fighting in a war for the warriors among you?

13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

"I don't know about that. But like, if there's nothing here... and they know something we don't. Could be why they stayed away. A hidden creature from beyond... holding thirst for blood... --Or maybe it just smells bad in here, with their stronger senses."

It's not the easiest to see things in here, but he was genuinely curious. Curious enough to bring theories out from thin air (at the expense of a poor moogle). As they walked along with the resounding clatter of their footsteps against the rocks, and the beat of the flapping of the moogles' wings, he's looking around, and while relaxed, it's something to be commended when Minato isn't actually bored and subsequently yawning from the lack of anything exciting happening.

Seeing Ace stop, Minato too paused in his tracks from behind him. Not really having an argument with taking a break, but curious.

"... What's up?"

There was nothing planned about their pause, and Ace truly wished he wouldn't have had to occupy himself with similar disruptions at the very beginning of their journey. Alas, the damage had been done, and all that was left was to seize the lantern out of the petrified moogle's arms, and as he'd motioned her to remain close, the blond once more turned to Minato.

"I appreciate your input, but I don't think she does." There was a pause before he slowly resumed their stroll, clutching onto their source of light with one hand and ensuring his grip on his weapon with the other. Not that any blood-thirsty monster could be really defeated with a pair of dice.

"...I assume you speak from experience?"

"Oh." Minato tilted his head, addressing the moogle with a tiny shrug. "... You could've said something, you know."

A more straightforward apology might've been significantly more appropriate, but unfortunately, Minato hasn't gotten his Social Link Appropriateness™ stats up yet. In the very least, he'll shut up about going into the grisly details his imagination might pull out.

"Not really. But this is the kind of atmosphere that makes you think 'Why'. Quiet before the storm... things like those."

It isn't like he's looking forward to a grisly demise or anything, just musing out loud.

"Kupo..." Is all the moogle can muster, anyway, if you by chance counted on something more elaborate. Unfortunately for Hanafuda, Ace's faith in her competence seemed to have temporarily taken precedence over the kind of protectiveness he had developed for his companion over the months, resulting in his rather passive stance towards her attempts at fending off the danger. After all, she would never learn otherwise.

"That, or other Heroes might have cleared this place before us."

However, the more they walked, the more Minato's prophecies were starting to get into his head, no matter how he tried to resist the feeling of uneasiness that they brought. Corridor after corridor presented nothing but an absolute void, though Ace could swear that the temperature was getting slightly lower with each step they took. Lightly brushing his hand against the carvings in the walls, he tried to investigate the source of that drop, only to be taken aback by a mysterious wailing sound coming from the distance - except their location made it only harder to get a better idea, with how the voice bounced against the stone.

Whatever it was, it might have as well been lurking around the corner.

That was always a possibility, albeit a less interesting explanation than vengeful spirits... Minato nodded absently without further comment. They may not be the most talkative duo around the block, but Ace was agreeable company, so he didn't mind him taking the lead exploration-wise. Though, after his comment, it seemed that the both of them were gradually beginning to feel the tension. Even Minato himself. He had said it without much thought, but now it felt like something was there; his eyes scanned around, expecting there to be a trace of... a being that wasn't good.

Was it the dark, or the musty atmosphere? Who could say for sure...

The wailing voice however, ascertains their concerns. Minato pauses as abruptly as the noise started.

"... You heard that too?"

2 spooky!!

Minato wouldn't have to ask him twice, as Ace's response came almost simultaneously in a form of an involuntary step backwards. No verbal answer followed as he glanced over his shoulder to assess the situation, the look on his face revealing certain bewilderment with the way his brows furrowed.

It was in that moment when another voice struck their ears, much sharper and higher-pitched than the previous one, as if whoever had made it was only getting started. Perhaps there was nothing to be gained from their patience, so he opted for a quick slots roll in an attempt to at least land a buffing spell. Unfortunately, the summoned machine only made more noise than it truly helped, resulting in what was supposed to be a weak attack on an enemy that was still nowhere to be found.

Well, that didn't work.

It was just among the glorious--or in this case less glorious--things that came with the Gambler job. Minato scratches his head, stepping forward a bit in front of Ace this time, now with a properly drawn out sword and fighting stance. His class choice was a curious mix of front liner and spellcaster that shouldn't be in the middle of the heat of combat, but he'd still feel more secure with this position while his friend's attack form still relied on chance.

But something else still felt wrong. It didn't seem to be anywhere in proximity to attack them, but Minato already felt like his focus was waning... He clipped on his earphones, and turned up the volume on his mp3 player. Not loud enough to completely drown out the unsettling shrieks (and even at their loudest they probably wouldn't) but enough so that, he hoped, their effect on him whatever they were would be lessened.

There existed a way to make the situation even worse, and that is if Ace had decided to equip his secondary job instead - except it hadn't been discovered yesterday that Chocobos and cave exploration do not go together too well, so thankfully it wasn't a case.

He let Minato take point without objections, and the small grunt of frustration that accompanied his failed attempt was drowned by the heaviness in the air. Cold was slowly beginning to seep into his senses, leaving him with no choice but to send the lantern in his hand to the ground with a loud clatter, all while trying to shield his ears from the ominous sounds. He could no longer hear the music pouring out of Minato's headphones, nor he was familiar with the exact technology the other used, but he wanted to trust his judgment, unable to do much more, really.

"We need to... retreat. Now."

The fall of the lantern stunned Minato despite his added measures against sound, turning to face his companion and away from where he was supposed to be guarding. Though, the direction of the noise gradually became even more unclear than it already was to begin with, surrounding them. Screeches echoed throughout the tunnel, who could really say where it was? If the presence was merely making its voice louder, or if it was actually getting closer was impossible to tell.

Their situation was far from encouraging.

"... I guess we have no choice."

Quickly picking up Ace's lantern, he gave him a serious nod and ran a short distance ahead, mentally reviewing the path they took to go through here.
