1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.

2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.

3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.

4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.

5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.

7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.

9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility, or maybe you'd like to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Or how about participating in Christmas at Crystallis or fighting in a war for the warriors among you?

One would think that after spending ten years homeless together, she would be a little more considerate, but Cid had no idea they were from two separate universes. All he knew was that Yuffie was more ornery than usual. He was prepared to give her a piece of his mind before the topic changed.

"What's gonna be great?" he questioned, folding his arms over his chest. "And what don't I know? If it's about the hero stories, this guy filled me in." He jerked his head in the moogle's direction.

"Um," the moogle interjects calmly, "I'm not a guy, kupo."

One eyebrow raised, Cid gave her a brief look before correcting himself. "This gal filled me in."

"They're moogles."

Yuffie pointed it out as if it wasn't obvious. "And yeah," She's a little calmer now. Sorry Cid, she was far to glad to see you to not make fun of you.

"There is someone else named Cid here too. I thought it was you but it wasn't because he was working on some great airship." Yuffie flailed her arms to either side as if that might indicate the size of the ship.

"And Tif's here, and a really young Cloud and Vincent and Sephiroth too but he's less killy but just as moody and..." She probably forgot someone but it didn't matter because Cid was there!

Airships? Cid's interest was certainly piqued as he imagined this world might have a few gummi pieces lying around somewhere. If not, then there must be other resources available. Regardless, he would seek out this other Cid and pick his brain, and maybe his blueprints if they were available.

He was glad to know Tifa and Cloud were present, but... "Who're Vincent and Sephiroth?" He searched his memory to try and put faces to the names, but neither ring any bells. They were complete enigmas. With a sly smirk on his face, the man leaned forward, flicked his toothpick between his teeth and said, "Your imaginary friends? Ain't you a little old for this?"

Yuffie just blinked, growing oddly serious for the ninja girl.

"Oh no. You don't know which means... shit." Her palm went to her head and she cringed. "You really don't remember? Sephiroth? Bent on destroying everything? Vincent... ruler of being weirdly creepy for now good reason sides the fact that he wants to punish himself for the stupidest reasons in the world."

Yuffie should never be allowed to describe people.

"That means you're from a different time or different universe..." This has happen before. "Shit. shit. shit shit."

She was talking crazy, Cid thought. Different time? Universe? Though a scientific man, these things were beyond him. There were few things he could think of to say in response that wouldn't pin Yuffie as crazy.

"Watch that mouth of yours! I oughta wash it out with soap." He was serious too, his eyes daring her to challenge him. "I don't know what you're talkin' about, but what's this about a creep? Is this Vincent guy givin' you a hard time?" He raised a fist from his folded arms to hover just above his elbow. "Say the word and I'll have a niiice long chat with 'im."

Just want until he hears that Yuffie's living with Vincent.

"No, it's not like that!" There was another list of people Cid would have to punch if he wanted to find who was responsible for the habit of Yuffie swearing. She pouted, putting her palms on her hips. "This is so complicated and why would you wash out my mouth! You aren't my dad!"

That would be weird.

"Man this is making my head hurt."

"You're tellin' me!" Cid's arms fall open, both waving in the air with his outburst. He spread one hand across his face and slowly dragged it down, willing his patience to return. Darn kids. After his hand fell from his chin, he took a deep breath and tried again.

"Alright. You know anyone who can explain what's goin' on here?" How he missed Squall's calm, straightforward personality at this time. He would get this done.

Yuffie blinked.

"I can." She's grown up some and if he really wanted to know what was going on she didn't mind explaining it to him. "..but it's a really long story. Can we... like find a place to sit?"

If not Yuffie was going to plant her butt on the ground.

Cid's moogle, yet unnamed as far as he was aware, hovered just above his shoulder. "There are many places to sit!" she offered to the group, her knowledge about the city matched only by other moogles and the heroes who came before the man. He watched her as she spoke, then trained his eyes again on Yuffie.

"Better make it comfortable, we're gonna be there a while." He waves a hand, gesturing he would follow her in whichever direction she chose. "If you got a place in mind, let's get goin'."

"Yeah, let's head to my house."

She waved at him and then started walking towards the two person home that her and Vincent shared. He wouldn't be home anyway and unlike some of the more crowded homes it was small and cozy and they could talk. Yuffie was also pretty sure that there was stuff to make hot chocolate there and it was cold and chocolate was awesome. She was also wearing shorts and a tank top despite the weather turning to the harsh frost of winter.

Yuffie didn't say much to Cid during their walk. She wasn't the tour-guide sort of person and she's been here so long it just feels like home now. When they reached her home she walked in the front door, she had forgotten to lock it earlier so it was easy to walk in. Mooshoo, as if taking a silent cue, went off to his room to work and leave the pair be.

"So! Were do I start?" There was to much stuff going on.

Upon entering the modest home, Cid was impressed. It was good to know that Yuffie had a sense of furnishing a home in spite of the meager resources available in Hollow Bastion. At least, that would be true if this was the Yuffie he knew. Apparently, she wasn't. His moogle never wandered further than a few feet though she too was curious about the things the sly ninja had placed in her home.

"The beginnin's as good a place as ever," Cid responded, choosing to stand with legs spread and arms folded. He could kill for some tea (no milk, please Aerith, no more milk) but would settle for anything Yuffie offered. The truth be told, he wasn't pleased by the weather either. "Where ya from? I'm from Hollow Bastion. It's where you're from too, last time I checked."

THe house is a little plan but a couch, a chair situated next to the couch, a small coffee table and shelves of random stuff; there are romance books along one of the shelves as well. They do not belong to Yuffie but she's opened a few just to see what the fuss was about.

"Ah, see the beginning is a really far place." Hollow Bastion sounds like a weird name for a city. "I'm from Gaia. I am the Princess of Wutai. You were from Rocket town." Or at least she thinks that's what it was called. Really she was only sort of paying attention through that whole journey.

"I need something to drink..." She got up and disappeared into the kitchen not letting Cid get in a word. Yuffie decided to make tea, it was a basic green tea, nothing compared to what Wutai has but she liked it. She placed a cup in front of Cid when it was done letting silence fill the small home.

"You sound like Sora. You know that?"

"Heh, Sora? Now there's a name I know." Cid leaned forward and took up the cup from the table to inhale its aroma. Green was good. After taking a very small sip, no milk was even better. It would warm him up just as soon as it was cool enough to drink. He remained standing, one hand on his hip while the other held the cup by his chest.

"Good kid. A little airheaded sometimes," he joked, giving the cup a small wave so as not to spill. "Can't seem to stay out of trouble either. But a good kid." He dared another sip but the tea still hadn't cooled enough. "But if you know Sora, you can't be some... princess." What a strange thought, that Yuffie could be royalty. "Ya gotta be from Hollow Bastion, same as me. We met 'im in Traverse Town."

"I met Sora here. He spouted some nonsense about knowing me." Man this really sucked. Yuffie kept her tea on the coffee table and then laid down on the couch. Her knees were propped up over the couches side, her hair fanning across the surface. It has grown past her shoulders at this point. She's been to lazy to cut it.

"So I don't know."

Yuffie was not comfortable with not knowing. "And why can't I be a princess?" Her head turned to look at him with a slight pout. Seriously Cid, you're so mean!

"'Cause Hollow Bastion ain't got princesses." His answer was curt as he expected her to know this fact. Hollow Bastion had Ansem the Wise and his scientists once, but they were not royalty. "Yer a committee member anyway, not a princess. Gotta repair your castle before you can think about assumin' the throne." He blew on the tea hoping it would cool.

"But this Rocket Town." He raised his eyes from his drink to peer at Yuffie with unrestrained curiosity. For a town to earn this name, it must be one hell of an engineering playground. "What's it like?"

Yuffie groans, rolling over with practice agile ease. She grabbed hold of her cup and took a sip before letting the steaming liquid rest. It wasn't so hot but she also might have just burned her tongue.

"Well I'm not the princess of Hollow Bastion anyway." Just in case he didn't know that. "What committee?"

assuming he'd eventually answer her she went ahead and answered him first.

"There is a giant rocket in the middle of it." They weren't really creative when they thought about that one. She forgot how it got there but she knew that it didn't work. He should probably ask Vincent some of those details since tall dark and grump pays more attention.

After a disbelieving grunt, Cid again took a sip of his tea. "What bonehead leaves a giant rocket in the middle of a town?" He shook his head, dismayed by the lack of intelligence in people these days. It was a hard life, being sensible. A good engineer practiced safety at all times.

"The Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee. We're rebuildin' everything." Watching his world come apart at the seams never tampered the hope he'd return someday, but having it happen to him twice now, and this time without his ship... "Or we were until it happened again." He scowled, holding his cup level with his chin. "Should've seen it in its heyday. It was beautiful. Flowers and fountains everywhere."

Yuffie leaned back against the couch just watching Cid. He talked like Cid, he acted like Cid and he looked like Cid. So she decided that he was Cid. Mismatched memories can just go to hell.

"It sounds nice."

She'd want to see that besides, after her trip to Crystallis she's entertained world hoping. It'd be cool to go to other places. It's better than going back home anyway, considering how complicated things there are getting.

"As for the bonehead... I was pretty sure it was Cid. The you Cid from that world."

His grip on the cup waned before tightening with a vengeance at that news. "What!?" Cid thrust his tea away from himself, splashing it over the rim and onto the floor with the force of his anger. The mess went unnoticed by its creator who fell into a rant at "his" incompetence.

"What kind of idiot is this Cid you got? I'd like to give him a piece of my mind!" He no longer waved his tea in the air, but he looked downright furious. "Leavin' rockets around... He's lucky someone hasn't blown 'em all up yet!" At this he took yet another sip, his eyes narrowed. "Sheer dumb luck, I tell ya."

Yuffie giggled, her hand coming up in front of her lips to stop the laughter. "I'm sorry. I just really missed you." She felt like her heart was going to burst or that she might just start crying.

...that'd be embarrassing.

"I've been here for over a year." She wasn't alone but it wasn't the same. She had spent a lot of time with Cid and Red before. Not having them here was like having part of her family missing.

"Rocket stuff aside. Tell me about how you know me?" It sounded nice.

"Over a year, hm?" Cid scratched the fuzz along his jaw, one eye closing as he tried to recall just how old she would be now. She was likely around his Yuffie's age, now that he thought about it. Would her Cid be as old as he is?

"I told ya, we're from the same town: Hollow Bastion! Open yer ears already." He again used his cup to gesture, motioning it in her direction as he gave his order. "It went by a different name back then. Radiant Garden, it was called. It was gorgeous until the Heartless showed up."

His eyes grew hard as he recalled the day they came. It wasn't a difficult topic so much as it was an infuriating one. "I found you before they could get to ya. You were little then, about..." Leaning to the side, Cid held his free hand parallel to the ground at the height she would be at around seven years of age. "This short. I picked you up, put you in my ship with Leon and Aerith, and got the heck outta there. We've been together ever since."

Yuffie was about to comment on the spilled tea. Mooshoo will get mad but then he mentions a name she knows. "Aerith? You saved her?" That made her heart twist slightly. "And who'd Leon?" She paused for a moment.

"Is he cute?"

It was definitely an important question that needed to be asked.

Cid's eyes narrowed as half of his upper lip curled back in a vexed scowl. "'Cause that's what matters, ain't it?" He folded his arms again, his cup balanced on his forearm near his elbow. "Whether Leon's cute or not."

"What?!"

She felt as if it was an innocent enough question. If they spent a lot of time together maybe he was like Zack... though she didn't know and she couldn't really ask Cid because he wouldn't know.

Her mind continued to untumble a few things, her thoughts skipping around before she smiled brightly.

"You'll be here for my Birthday!" She wasn't planning to have a party but with Cid here she wanted one.

Cid hadn't missed any of his Yuffie's birthdays since she was small, but according to this Yuffie, she'd been here for a year already. He never felt like he owed her the best birthdays ever, but he still liked to be present for them, like some kind of family engagement.

"Is that comin' up already? Hot dog." He squared his jaw in thought. Time sure flew by. "What're you gonna do for it? Dinner and cake? Maybe get a few decorations in here too, simple things, like a 'Happy Birthday!' banner."
