Applications will open on November 01st at 00:00 GMT+4 (October 31st at 15:00 EST) and close on November 08th at 23:59 GMT+4 (14:59 EST)
— Reply with a character you wish to test in the game's setting.
— Feel free to use one of the prompt below or make one of your own!
— Tag around! This is a panfandom RP, so don't hesitate to tag both castmates and non-castmates.
— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.
2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.
3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.
4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.
5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.
6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.
7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.
8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.
9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!
10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.
11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.
12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility, or maybe you'd like to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Or how about participating in Christmas at Crystallis or fighting in a war for the warriors among you?
13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

Oracle-144 | Destiny
[Considering the kinds of people and not-people who come and go regularly in Crystallis, something that looks remarkably like an android shouldn't stand out too much, right?
She (definitely a she, if her body shape is any indication; the structure of her face doesn't provide much evidence) is currently investigating one of the weapon shop stalls off the side of the main street, studying the merchant's wares as he prattles on about how good they are. Without a word, the robotic would-be customer picks up one of the more impressive-looking pistols -- quality and obviously of painstaking make, even without the shopowner's enthusiastic details, although he's quick to add that few weapons in this world are so advanced.
She clicks open the chamber with a flick of her wrist, glances over the barrel -- and while there's a very machine-sounding hum to her voice when she speaks, there's definitely a human quality of emotion to her tone. In this case, a blend of surprise and disappointment.]
Good make, yes, but very primitive. What energy source does it use?
[Her moogle, floating nearby, looks slightly exasperated as the merchant stares.]
4. the obligatory LOOK GIANT BURD prompt
Interesting!
[That's the first real bit of enthusiasm that Oracle's moogle has heard out of the Hero since her arrival -- and of all things, it's a Chocobo that gets that reaction, stated as the Exo studies one of the ranch's birds from her place at the fence a short distance away.]
You're unfamiliar with them, kupo?
Very. The planets haven't retained many of their larger species since the Collapse, and I've never seen anything describing a bird like this. [Arms crossed and chin perched thoughtfully on her knuckles, Oracle suddenly turns to her moogle with a glint in her eye that may have nothing to do with the fact that her eyes glow in the first place.] Who's the owner? Do you think it's possible for me to borrow a sample or two for study?
W-What kind of sample are we talking about, kupo?!
10. but seriously why are my powers gone
Ridiculous.
[There's more than a hint of frustration in Oracle's voice as she empties the last of her handcannon's chamber into the Ettin Snake --with little effect, because that just seems to tick the stupid reptile off even more. The Exo makes an agile (but narrow) dodge, and if she had more organic features, she would be grimacing.
Honestly, going through Ikora's entire rite of initiation to be dubbed a Stormcaller and now she can't even access her Solar power, starting off as though newly resurrected back on Earth -- if she had that this creature would be dead already--
The giant snake lunges again, and only a swift-reload and calm hand lands a bullet in one of those eyes. Both heads recoil, but it's not retreating yet.
She should have assembled a proper team for this, Oracle acknowledges coolly. She can admit that now.]
10
Shining Armor had just finished up his own hunting log when he noticed her there. With a grin, he drew his sword and shield and ran up.] Need some help?
[And without further ado, proceeded to take aggro, slamming his sword against the shield, and making a banging noise.]
no subject
...yes, that would indeed appear to be a talking horse decked out in medieval weaponry. Not that Oracle can say much about her clothing choices since arriving.
Still, if she was able to cooperate with a Vandal bearing a good reputation in the past, a talking horse should be a bit more legit. And he's clearly good at being bait, if nothing else. A short nod is her only response, because as the snake refocuses its attention on the newcomer, Oracle's doing her best to slip around to its blind spot. Stay frosty, little pony friend!]
no subject
He danced around a couple more hits as he smirked, grinning through the sword in his teeth.] C'mon then! [And he banged the sword and shield once more as he cast Protect as well around him and Oracle.]
no subject
Okay, what had her moogle called that spell? Libra? Yes, she'll try that, one second--]
Weakness to ice and physical attacks! [In case the former means anything to her ally. Either way, she'll be taking aim again -- and after a quick two shots, the firebreathing head is effectively blind.]
no subject
[Charging his weapon, he sliced into the Ettin, creating a Armor Break with a slash that shattered its defenses.] Hit it hard and hit it fast!
no subject
[It's right about now that Oracle's wishing she'd been given a more CQC-based Job, but at the moment there's nothing to be done about that. She reloaded as she called out before, so now she makes quick work of emptying most of her available shots into the snake's enormous heads, the bullets tearing through the more vulnerable skin of its jaws.
She's also wishing she had some grenades to make the attack final, but oh, well -- that combination is enough to cripple the creature significantly. She didn't come here just to cripple it, however, so Oracle's quick on the follow-up, closing the distance to deal one last, close-range shot to one of the heads and finish it -- and trusting her ally to do the same with the other.]
no subject
For a moment, he paused and then said,] I think we got it.
no subject
I appreciate the hand. I made the mistake of assuming Cid had given me all of the necessary details for this mission.
[Partly his fault for not being thorough, mostly hers for being so trusting and overconfident in her new abilities. Ah, well, it was a success all the same.]
no subject
Did you need healing? I've got White Mage equipped too.
no subject
...No, thank you. My ego's probably more bruised than anything else.
Are you also new here?
no subject
[He smiled at Oracle.] Shining Armor.
no subject
Oracle. [Including her number seems unnecessary; it's only caused annoying questions since arriving here, so she opts to leave it out.] I was in combat frequently up until I came here, but the shift in power has been...
[She glances at the snake's corpse. That kill was a lot longer and messier than it should have been.]
...a little difficult getting used to. I still fail to see why someone or something thought that replacing our abilities was more efficient for this cause.
no subject
[He shook his head.] I heard there might be a way to return our powers, but right now I don't see how.
no subject
no subject
Others move onto more advanced studies. And the deeper you learn, the more you can do. I used to be able to shield an entire city.
no subject
[Apologies, Warlocks tend to digress and be long-winded, especially when talking about their own abilities.
But ah, yes, before she forgets -- she steps over to one of the snake's enormous heads, withdrawing the knife on her belt to quickly remove one of its fangs. She'll need proof of the kill, after all.
Once that's done, she gives Shining a look.]
I'm headed back to town, but you're welcome to join me. I'm curious what kinds of studies you undertake to advance your magic, as you said.
no subject
[Considering everything, Shining was a very good student. It ran in the family after all.]
Lead on.
2
Ha, finally, someone else who understands. Their weapons are definitely archaic... they might've been better off pulling more advanced weapons than other people, am I right?
--Then again, I guess they'd need to have it explained how they work, lest they accidentally blow up or something.
no subject
I've seen veterans as well as new recruits blow themselves up because they didn't know how to handle a rocket launcher. Jumping ahead of the populace might well do more harm than good.
[The moogle at her shoulder looks more than a little disturbed at all this talk of blowing up, but Oracle either doesn't notice or doesn't care. She regards the human(?) curiously.]
My guess is that these are dated back before Golden Age time. I don't suppose that means anything to you?
[It hasn't to anyone else so far.]
no subject
Must've been quite a sight.
[ She raises a hand to her chin, looking up at Oracle. ]
Depends. Is that... under a intergalactic definition?
no subject
Unless you're the team leader; then it's just exasperating.]
Yes. I don't remember it, but tradition says it marked the expansion of Earth's civilization throughout the solar system. From my point in time, it was... a long time ago.
[Oracle really doesn't like using vague terms -- well, she does on her own time and of her own volition, but in this case she has no choice, and that bugs her. The lack of knowledge at this point is irksome.]
