1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.

2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.

3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.

4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.

5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.

7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.

9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility, or maybe you'd like to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Or how about participating in Christmas at Crystallis or fighting in a war for the warriors among you?

Ichigo froze midway of petting the Chocobo. He hadn't really been thinking when he said that, not intentionally, and now that he thought back it sounded a little harsh. Rukia had possibly been on her own all this time, unable to go home and now that he showed up he was being a bit selfish.

He withdrew his hand from the bird, his hands back at his sides as he looked off a bit. Embarrassed at his shortsightedness, his hand came up a moment later to rub the back of his head as he kept his gaze averted.

"Shit. Sorry, I... I didn't know you were here for that long."

"...I wasn't. I've only been here for two months." She looked at Ichigo, her brow furrowed in puzzlement. The last she'd seen of him was in front of his father's clinic, feeling the final traces of his spiritual energy disappear. After that, she'd sometimes catch a glimpse of him while on assignment, but he wasn't able to see her, or hear her. He couldn't even feel her presence. It had been hard, but it was for the best. He deserved a normal life, and the dead should have no claims on the living.

Either way, she didn't like the look on his face. She hadn't meant to make him feel guilty. "Hmph, don't apologize. There are plenty of activities we can do as a team. It was just one suggestion of many."

His look of embarrassment shifted to a bit of confusion and Ichigo glanced back at Rukia. Two months was still a long time but it was conflicting with what she said earlier. How could she have been here for two months but not speak to him for a year? Before being brought to this world Ichigo had spoken to her before all hell broke lose in Las Noches and their group had gotten separated. Had he missed something?

"Wait, what do you mean? You said it's been over a year."

"For me, it has."

It was rare for anything to pull Rukia away from chocobos, but this was disturbing enough that she turned to face him fully, scrutinizing him from head to toe. He didn't look any different than she remembered. If she could only feel reiatsu in this form, her questions would be resolved.

"...What is the last event that you can recall from our world? The last time you saw me?"

"We split up in Los Noches before things got bad."

He couldn't help a wince as he thought back at how vicious the fight with Ulquiorra had been, the guilt coming back to him. All it had taken was a moment of weakness when he had almost died and his Hollow had taken over with little resistance. His other half had tore through the battlefield and Ulquiorra like it was nothing. Ichigo hadn't meant for it to go that far or end that way but it was a sobering moment when he thought he had control over himself.

Funny, remembering where he's supposed to be felt just as raw as is it did when he first appeared in this world. Yet he had no choice but to put the thoughts of the war to the side when he was told he wouldn't be going home for a while. It didn't feel right that he had been focusing on other things until recently.

Rukia's eyes widened slightly. But that couldn't be possible. If he'd been pulled here from that time, his absence definitely wouldn't have gone unnoticed. She would have felt his reiatsu vanish. Could it be, then, that no one knew she was absent from their world as well?

She looked away, battling with indecision. There was a lot she could tell him, but should she? Would it alter the outcome of things that hadn't yet come to pass? Would he even want to know? Yet, at the same time, it was cruel to leave him thinking that his home and loved ones remained in danger while he was too far away to help them.

Rukia folded her arms and lowered her head, exhaling heavily. "I can tell you how it ends. I'm not sure if it's wise, but I wouldn't want to deny you your peace of mind."

Ichigo stared at her in shocked silence at her offer. If she knew how it ended then had she somehow come from a different point in time? While that was confusing on its own it was outweighed by the indecision of wanting to know the outcome or not. A part of him needed to know if everyone had made it out all right, if Aizen had been defeated and if both Karakura and Soul Society were safe. It was so tempting and the chance was right in front of him. All he had to do was ask. But was it the right thing to do?

He lowered his hand from his head, clenching a fist at his side as his eyes left Rukia to look to the side in uncertainty. If he said two simple words then he'd know. He shut his eyes for a long moment, taking a deep breath to settle his thoughts before opening them again to look at her with a brisk shake of his head.

"Don't."

She was here. It had to mean something went right and that was enough for him.

"...Very well." She smiled, a little surprised at his decision. She was certain most people wouldn't be able to contain their curiosity, and she might have been one of those people.

Her shoulders rose and fell with a quick sigh. "At the least, it is reassuring to know that our being here doesn't seem noticed. I had no wish to neglect my duties."

And she didn't want Byakuya to worry about her, for that matter.

"Yeah... seems like it."

He loosened his fist and went back to idly pet the nearest Chocobo, mostly using it as a distraction. While their time difference made little sense, if somehow things had stopped back home while they were here... then the ones he was supposed to be protecting would be safe. Afraid, but safe. There was no way for him to know for sure other than Rukia's presence but that had to suffice.

She watched him with a quiet smile for a moment. Strange... It had been so long since they'd seen one another, but things still felt natural. There wasn't even much to say. He was her friend, and she felt better just knowing he was here.

"...Do you want to try riding one?" she suggested. "Your legs are longer, so it wouldn't be too difficult. I can guide you."

Brought out of his thoughts, Ichigo glanced to Rukia then to the Chocobo he was petting. Right, he was supposed to learn how to do this sometime, wasn't he? The birds seemed tame enough and really, there wouldn't be any better time to learn while things were seemingly quiet. Still, he was a little hesitant.

"You sure these things don't mind having people sitting on them?"

"Quite sure." And if he still harbored doubts, then she would merely have to demonstrate. Smoothing her hand over the chocobo's feathers as she rounded to its side, she gripped the saddle tightly and hoisted herself up with fluid ease. She'd practiced often enough during the time loop to sa that she was fairly good at it by now, and the chocobo held its head high with pride.

"You see? She does not mind at all."

'Kweh!'

Rukia smiled, then looked to Ichigo and nodded. "Now you."

Of course she had made it look easy. Hesitating, he approached the side of the nearest Chocobo that seemed to tolerate him but when it came to the saddle... he just looked at it. He couldn't even think of it like a horse. Ichigo just couldn't get himself to pull himself onto the giant bird.

"...How did you..."

No. No, he wasn't going to ask her.

She watched him expectantly. How was this harder for him than it was for her? His legs were much longer than hers.

Finally she gave up with a sigh. She couldn't not be bossy, not for extended periods of time. "Put your left foot in the stirrup, then stand up as tall as you can before bringing your right leg over the top. It's quite simple."

Trying to ignore her impatience and not look as embarrassed as he felt , Ichigo procrastinated for a long moment more before he did what he was told. It wasn't that he couldn't but it was just awkward when he was overthinking it. When he brought his leg over to the other side and sat in the saddle, he looked around a bit. So far so good but definitely different.

The chocobo danced a little with a flap of its wings once Ichigo was in the saddle. It seemed excited and eager to be off, just waiting for the command.

"A light nudge of your heels will indicate you wish to move forward. Be careful not to say the word spelled 'G-O', particularly if your chocobo seems abnormally energetic," she advised.

A grave mistake she'd made when first starting out.

"Why not start out with a light stroll?"

When the Chocobo sidestepped a bit Ichigo's hands automatically grabbed for the saddle horn to steady himself. He wasn't afraid he was going to fall off. Not really. ...Maybe a little. The ground wasn't that far away but he didn't want fall off the first time he tried to learn how ride.

"Y-Yeah, got it."

When he was sure the Chocobo wasn't going to throw him off and that he felt more or less stable upon the bird, his shifted his hands to the reins before nudging the creature's sides slightly.

"You're already doing better than I did," Rukia smiled encouragingly, and urged her chocobo into a casual stroll beside his. "You were always a quick learner. I knew this would be no problem for you."

She said it as if she were proud to take the credit for his accomplishment. She sort of was.

"Not many ride horses in the Soul Society. It's more common for those who ride to do so on very large boars," she smiled.

As if he didn't already know, having met Ganju.

Despite the time that passed since he saw any sign of the Shiba family or Ganju's prized boar, he hadn't forgotten in the slightest. Definitely a meeting to remember.

"Yeah, I met some of them."

He looked at the Chocobo, relaxing his hands a bit on the reins as he got slightly more comfortable. It was just as strange as any of the giant boars but at least it was doing what he asked and not running wildly at full speed. ...It better not, he wasn't ready for that lesson.

"So if these guys were built to run how come they just don't g-... take off?"

"These are tame," she told him. "The ones in the wild have a tendency to be more skittish, but for the most part the birds are fairly outgoing and get along well with people." She sat in the saddle comfortably, holding the reins just so her hands had a place to be.

"They have few natural enemies from what I understand. Large monsters called chocobo eaters used to pursue them, but they're somewhat rare now."

No one seemed to care much for the monsters, and she didn't think anyone would object if they were to go extinct.

Chocobo eaters. Part of him wanted to roll his eyes from the silly-sounding name but if there were monsters that could catch the fleet-footed birds then they must have been formidable, even if they were rare.

"Guess they were hunted down?"

"Some," Rukia replied, holding the reins to the left to turn her bird and looking at Ichigo to make sure he did the same. "There was an exceptionally large and dangerous one that existed several months before I arrived. It was defeated. Now all you can expect to see is the occasional 'small' one...small, relative to the primary, I should add."

He seemed to be riding well, so she nodded her approval. "But it seems there will always be an abundance of monsters, no matter how many are slain. It's the nature of this world."

Ichigo glanced to what Rukia was doing before also guiding the reins a bit to the left. It helped that the creature was trotting at an easy pace otherwise he'd be at a loss. It would take a few more attempts to fully be comfortable but he was trying.

"Sort of like the Hollows. This place might not be so different from our world."
