— Reply with a character you wish to test in the game's setting.
— Feel free to use one of the prompts below or make one of your own!
— Tag around! This is a panfandom RP, so don't hesitate to tag both castmates and non-castmates.
— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome To The World Of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a legendary Hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. It's probably time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred very often this past year-- Maybe the characters who have been here for longer than you may help.
2/ Do You Like Your New Life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think it is possible to negotiate with the Calamity, you could even participate in the research on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest of them all in Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible!
3/ Neighborhood Woes...
The government of Aqures Ixen is sorry, but there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there are no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have be living with someone very cool and maybe an artist of great talent lives next door! It's just not likely.
4/ Crystallis De Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.
5/ A Thing Called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite it to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.
6/ A Thing Called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.
7/ I Believe I Can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can also borrow the Heroes of Light's official Airship, the Enterprise and some characters even have their own airship! You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.
8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore the ancient ruins that may hold some precious information in the continent of ruins. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere!
9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!
10/ Getting Jobs Is Hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe he simply asked you to assist him to clean the laboratory. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.
11/ The World Is Subject To Unrelenting Pain and Suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.
12/ Events Of The Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility or maybe you'd have liked to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have preferred to regain your true powers and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles or chase ghosts for a living. Or how about reliving some of your Worst Memories or fighting in A War for future of the world?
13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

Rialynn Kollmann | OC
[Rialynn blinks hard. Twice. It doesn't help to chase away the sight of flying white teddy bears. Her rapier is still belted to her hip, and her lute clunks slightly as she pushes herself unsteadily onto her feet. She dusts off the seat of her leather breeches, wide hazel eyes flicking back and forth. There are all sorts of people in varying states of wakefulness, some wearing resplendent colorful robes, some decked out in expensive-looking armor. The teddy bears are talking to them.]
[Where in the world is she...?]
[Slowly she turns, and then stares up at the giant orange crystal. And that would be what now?]
Uh...Sabien?
[Rialynn looks around for her friend, but there's no sign of the fierce femme fatale. No sign of her horse, either. All she has is the clothing on her back, her instrument, and her weapon. She shies away a little from a waking barbarian (is he a barbarian???), unsure which way she should go. Should she wait for a teddy bear?]
[She backs right up into someone else's back. Spinning around, Rialynn's hands jump up in a hasty display of apology.]
Sorry! Sorry.
11. Games
[There's a fairly sizable crowd gathered around the table of Triple Triad at the bar. The two players size each other up, playing their cards thoughtfully. There are collective gasps, chuckles, sighs and grumbles, and raucous cheers.]
[Rialynn doesn't really get it. But she's curious! She sips from her mug, trying to get a good place near the middle where she can still see at her 5'3" height, but not get too jostled by the rowdier folks near the front. Her hazel eyes flick over the cards, trying to figure out why this monster beat that monster, and where the points come into play.]
[...It's not doing much good. She'd like to go back to the stage and play a few more songs for the crowd, but she doesn't stand a chance of earning so much as a bent coin so long as the card game is playing out. A good bard knows when to give the audience what they want, and what they want is a card game, not a ballad.]
[Another sip, then she turns her head slightly toward the person standing next to her.]
Are you following this? At all?
[Because she sure isn't.]
4. Chocobos
................Where are the horses?
[She was told she could rent a mount or even see about taming one of her own by visiting the 'chocobo ranch' so that's what she did. She didn't know what a chocobo was, and assumed it was just a family name, or a location. Giant birds weren't really what she had in mind, and so she stands at the edge of the fence, staring blankly at the big yellow chocobo that casually strutted past her line of vision.]
[She rises up a little higher on the balls of her feet, quietly fretting. She didn't know how to ride one of these. Would she need to hire a rider as well as a chocobo to get to where she needed to go? nooooooooo pleeeeeease]
[Slowly she backs away, tugging at the tail of her bandanna, her brow deeply furrowed. Surely this can't be the only option. Horses have to exist, right? Or at least some sort of animal she can ride that has four legs?]
4
[Oh, look, it's Deadpool, gratuitous wanna-be German and all. No Nightcrawler here, bub.]
In this world, we ride our dinner! Or well, I think they're dinner. I mean, these things are gigantic chickens and they don't wear disguises to look like normal guys...es...
no subject
[That is a very odd costume. How does he even see out of it?]
You mean there's nothing better to eat?
[It's not unusual for a rider to eat their mount, but only in dire circumstances. She's pretty sure these birds aren't for eating, given the saddles on their backs. Rialynn peers back at the paddock, baffled.]
Have you ridden one of these before?
11
I...no. I don't get anything that's happening. [He shuts this eyes and lowers his head when he guesses the point distributing incorrectly again.] Where do they even get those cards? They don't look like they came in their own set.
no subject
[She laughs, relieved that she isn't the only one who's completely in the dark about this. Better still that it's a fellow musician who's relaxed and easy to talk to.]
[The larger player slaps down a card, and everyone cheers. So Rialynn raises her glass and offers a 'Heyyyyyyyyy!' as well. She can at least pretend to be excited for the guy since everyone else is.]
So what brings you here tonight? Going to put on a show?
no subject
After another sip, he decides to forget learning how to play by watching. It's gotten him nowhere even after an hour.]
Not really. I wanted to see what the city was like. [Impromptu performances aren't his thing, unless it's for a small group of friends. He needs to be prepared to get on a stage, even after years of concert tours.] This world...it's huge. All that's left of my world was a few islands, and that was it.
no subject
[Ordinarily she'd ask for the sake of gathering another fantastic story for her repertoire, but she likes Duster, and considers him a friend. She's asking because this is concerning.]
[Giving up on the game, she pulls back a little. It might be best to speak somewhere quieter in any case, so he doesn't have to yell about a potential global catastrophe to be heard over the crowds.]
no subject
Long ago, the world was much larger, but humans ruined it all. They escaped to the Nowhere Islands to start over by removing their memories of the old world and creating new ones. They thought they lived in a farming village forever.
[When they are out of earshot of the others, Duster stops. He opens and closes his mouth a few times.] ...I was six when it happened. Even if those memories came back, it wouldn't do me much good.
[While Rialynn is his friend, he doesn't feel like talking about his childhood in public.]
Three years ago, someone else came to the Nowhere Islands from another time. He tried to awaken the Dark Dragon to destroy everything left of the world...and my friends and I tried to stop him...
no subject
[She actually looks a little angry about that. If no one remembers the mistakes of the past, then how will they make sure no one repeats those same mistakes? That's part of the reason bards exist, to carry on the stories and legends in the form of songs and ballads, spreading them from generation to generation. It's a responsibility that's almost sacred!]
[...Not that she's mad at Duster, it's pretty obvious he didn't have much choice in the matter.]
How did you figure out that's what happened? Did that Dark Dragon guy tell you?
no subject
...If I hadn't failed that mission, we would have fought against the Pigmasks earlier and prevented all this.
[He fiddles with one of the tassels hanging off his belt. This isn't a topic he likes thinking about. Sure, in exchange for the safety of the world, Duster made his first real friends, but the mess with the Seven Needles might have been prevented. Maybe.]
...We heard it from the one person whose memories weren't removed. Leder. The Pigmasks took him away shortly after I disappeared, but we found him right before we went searching for the Seventh Needle. He told us everything.
As for the Dark Dragon, I never got to see it.
no subject
Hey, come on. I'm sure you tried as best you could, don't put all of that on your shoulders.
[She knows her words probably don't mean much, but still. It needs to be said.]
...You didn't see it because he never got around to summoning it? Did you manage to stop them eventually?
no subject
We did. It's the last thing I remember before I woke up here.
[There's more to that, but as Rialynn is his friend. She deserves to know the truth instead of believing in a falsehood. Hiding from the truth does no one any good.]
I don't know if it was a good thing in the end. It must have woken up because the whole underground was shaking and collapsing.
[He pauses and stares at the stands in the distance.] I think...we were going to die.
no subject
[For someone who makes a living being poetic and using words, it's really hard to know what to say right now. She's been in some scary situations before, sure, but nothing equivalent to 'the entire world is ending and there's no way to survive at all.']
At least you're here. Maybe if we can save this place, you can find a way to save your world too.
(no subject)
(no subject)
1!
[After being run into from behind, Pratty can't help but stumble a few feet forward. Once she regains her footing, she instinctively turns around, facing the other person.]
Sorry about that.
[The collision might not have been her fault entirely, but she should have been paying more attention to her surroundings, instead of the white puffball. Come to think of it, this person looked just as lost and confused as she did!]
New here too, huh?
no subject
Yeah. It's definitely no city I've been to before.
[She casts her gaze around, realizing just how many people there are who seem to share the same expression of bewilderment.]
I'm Rialynn, from Schonstadt. How about you?
[It's possible that the girl has heard of the tiny farming village, but she kind of doubts it.]
1
... And also a kid who's apparently just as new to this place as she is.] I-it's alright! Um... Do you know where this is?
no subject
No, sorry. I've never seen this city before. I guess it's the same for you?
[Her eyes track to the large glowing crystal, and she stares at it for several moments.]
...Uh...at least we've got a landmark of some kind to work with. But I can't say I've ever heard of a city with a giant glowing diamond before. You?
[She looks at Geo curiously, while she racks her brain for any stories she might have heard that mentioned magic gemstones.]
no subject
He nods in response to the first question, then he shifts when he turns to look at the crystal.] Nope, I definitely haven't... All the buildings here look kind of weird, too.
[Geo's no expert in architecture, but none of this is like anything he's seen before.]
no subject
[Rialynn blinks at Geo, then turns to look at the buildings more closely to see if there's something she missed. The architecture is a little different than what she's used to, but it's a kingdom capital. She might be missing something.]
[Of course, given that she's wearing leather boots, a sheathed rapier, a loose-fitting lace-up tunic, and a bandanna, it miiiiiiiiiiight be pretty obvious that she's from a far less advanced time than Geo is.]
Weird how?
no subject
[Yeah, Geo had noticed Rialynn's outfit after he'd spoken, but... that could have been a costume, right?
... Still, though, the buildings are weird. This entire situation is weird.]
no subject
[But it's odd, he's right about that. Usually new construction is located in one place. Here, the old buildings are right next to the new ones, as if some of the structures spontaneously exploded or collapsed. She has no idea what to make of it.]
Well, since we're both strangers here, we might as well stick together, right? Want to go take a look around?
no subject
[He takes another moment to regard the buildings with some mix of curiosity and bemusement before he nods. Having an adult around (or, at least, Geo assumed she was an adult) was actually a bit reassuring.]
Sticking together would probably be for the best. Oh, um... my name's Geo, by the way.
no subject
[She smiles, offering to shake his hand with her gloved fingers. Now that introductions are out of the way, it's time to start exploring.]
[The town definitely has a lot of things that Rialynn isn't accustomed to seeing. The stadium, for one, is enormous. And there's an observatory, where people can look at the stars? That's best done at night, she thinks, otherwise she'd make the suggestion to check it out right away.]
[But it's the airship docks that make her jaw drop. She stands like an awestruck fool as she tips her head back, staring at the massive vessels that don't even need the water.]
Is this real...?
11
Intense eyes flicker toward Rialynn when she asks her question, holding on her for an instant before turning to the game. Back and forth they go, following the cards being put into play, studying the matchups. He glances up, watching the players as they plan and play their next move. Scans the crowd, reading their reactions.
A long, long moment of intense studying stretches out as he takes in everything he can. And then, finally, the wanderer speaks.]
No.
[He sips his tea.]
no subject
[Rialynn grins at the serious warrior, and gives his shoulder a friendly, sympathetic pat. She's enjoyed tagging along with Jack, the stoic samurai. He's the ideal hero of any good story, defeating wicked monsters and thugs, seeking no treasure or reward. Honestly, she couldn't have asked for a better subject. Once they've finished their journey, she'll have a wealth of material to work with. She might have already started on a few things, but it would be pretty rude to practice a song about him while he's right there. She's pretty sure he's too humble to appreciate the gesture.]
I guess we'll just have to wait until it's over, then. We're running low on supplies, and I'll need to make some coin tonight.
[Because eating is important.]
Are you comfortable waiting here another hour or two?
