— Reply with a character you wish to test in the game's setting.
— Feel free to use one of the prompts below or make one of your own!
— Tag around! This is a panfandom RP, so don't hesitate to tag both castmates and non-castmates.
— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome To The World Of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a legendary Hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. It's probably time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred very often this past year-- Maybe the characters who have been here for longer than you may help.
2/ Do You Like Your New Life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think it is possible to negotiate with the Calamity, you could even participate in the research on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest of them all in Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible!
3/ Neighborhood Woes...
The government of Aqures Ixen is sorry, but there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there are no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have be living with someone very cool and maybe an artist of great talent lives next door! It's just not likely.
4/ Crystallis De Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.
5/ A Thing Called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite it to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.
6/ A Thing Called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.
7/ I Believe I Can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can also borrow the Heroes of Light's official Airship, the Enterprise and some characters even have their own airship! You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.
8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore the ancient ruins that may hold some precious information in the continent of ruins. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere!
9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!
10/ Getting Jobs Is Hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe he simply asked you to assist him to clean the laboratory. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.
11/ The World Is Subject To Unrelenting Pain and Suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.
12/ Events Of The Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility or maybe you'd have liked to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have preferred to regain your true powers and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles or chase ghosts for a living. Or how about reliving some of your Worst Memories or fighting in A War for future of the world?
13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

[She's more curious about the bass, now that it's just sitting there like that. Maybe if he had a horse to carry it for him... Oh, but there aren't any horses, right. Chocobos, then? They're pretty big, but are they bass-carrying big?]
I could teach you the basics, if you wanted. But if you know how to play one of these, the concept is pretty much the same. Draw the bow over the strings, move your fingers to change the pitch.
[Music was a topic of conversation she was at least comfortable with discussing with a stranger, so she doesn't feel any particular need to be shy about the matter.]
So you played one of these before? Do you know any songs?
[Rialynn sure wouldn't object to an impromptu performance.]

[Duster turns to the shopkeeper.] Do you mind if I try this out? [He gets an affirmative answer, and he carefully lifts it out of the stand and sets it beside him upright. The double bass is slightly taller than he is, and with one hand, he tests the length of the string board. It's just like the one he has back home.
He takes a few minutes to tune the instrument, adjusting the knobs every time he hears an inconsistency. Then, when satisfied with his work, he plays a simple jazz scale for Rialynn.]
...This is really well-made.
no subject
[Her musings stop when he begins to play, and she breaks out into a delighted smile.]
It's almost like having a tuned drum. I like it!
[Something like this could keep the beat pretty easily for a faster song, like a good jig. Rialynn nods vigorously with his assessment of the instrument's quality. She has a general idea of what's good and what's bad.]
Yes, it's great. ...You were really thinking of bringing it to battle, though? Why?
no subject
I want one of my own to play for concerts, not just for fighting. Wouldn't it be better if I brought something I already knew how to play well instead of having to learn something new?
[But she's right. There's no way he can carry this around while traveling. It's difficult enough to carry it out of his room.]
...Either I can go with something similar to the double bass or pick a completely different instrument. [Another hard choice he has to make. The former is easier, but it's too redundant, and the latter would be more fun but time consuming...]
no subject
[She would think most people would prefer to have a weapon in their hands, not an instrument. But that's because she showed up as a Freelancer, and doesn't know that Bards actually possess powers when they play their music.]
Hm. Well, maybe you could do both. Stick with the double bass for now, and try to pick up something new on the side. It'll give you some versatility that way.
no subject
[A musical Monk. And since he can't decide on his own, he'll nod and go with her suggestion.]
Yeah, that's what I should do. There's lots of other instruments I can play. [He picks up the double bass and sets it back into the display. The Moogle holds onto it to make sure it's steady, and the two turn down the aisle, away from the string instruments.]
The question is which one to pick...
no subject
[Maybe it just allows him to hit things better? She really should look into this job stuff, but she's not too sure she's comfortable with the idea of altering her mind and body. She's handy with a rapier and a knife, that's about all the abilities she's comfortable commanding in a fight anyway.]
Well... How about three? A lute, a flute, and a fiddle. All very easy to take with you when you travel.
[She pauses, looking at the harps.]
Then again, a knee harp might be nice. Oh, and panflutes are a little easier to play than the regular kind. Maybe you could get one of those too...
[Rialynn is not very helpful at narrowing things down.]
no subject
Duster sternly whispers something to his Moogle before returning to his search. ] It's not that. It's more...all my abilities were taken away from me, and unless I use a Job, I can't get them back. If I'm a Monk, I can do that and so much more.
[He stops with Rialynn and eyes the harp before shaking his head.] It's nice, but it's hard to play when running away from a monster. Flutes sound nice, actually.
[It's not a stringed instrument, and he always did enjoy the sound of a light flute melody.]
no subject
[Oops.]
You, uh...you had abilities?
[Focus on the topic at hand first, she tells herself, with an awkward shifting of her weight from foot to foot.]
R...right. A flute would be best. But, uh...maybe it's better just to focus on the running instead of the music?
[Because the last thing she'd want to do is sing while making a frantic break for it. And now's probably a good time for introductions. She gestures faintly at herself.]
I'm Rialynn.
no subject
The Moogle tugs on his vest towards a nearby aisle and Duster follows. Panpipes of all sizes hang on the display board with single pipe wind instruments lining the shelves further away. He passes by the panpipes without a second glance.]
I'm Duster.
no subject
You don't want a panpipe? You could probably play one of those with one hand.
[She has to point it out, but she won't argue the matter. A musician knows what he or she plays best.]
no subject
I think they work better with two. [That's how he's always seen them being played.] But I want to try out something...high and clear. Like this.
[He holds up the ocarina to his mouth and with a moment of hesitation, blows into it for one second. The note is dissonant due to how he's covering the holes.]
Yeah.
no subject
That's not so bad.
[She looks down at the ocarina she'd picked up, giving it a little toss in her palm.]
They're not very expensive either. I could stand to learn one of these, I think. Ha, we could make a duet!
