— Reply with a character you wish to test in the game's setting.
— Feel free to use one of the prompts below or make one of your own!
— Tag around! This is a panfandom RP, so don't hesitate to tag both castmates and non-castmates.
— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome To The World Of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a legendary Hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. It's probably time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred very often this past year-- Maybe the characters who have been here for longer than you may help.
2/ Do You Like Your New Life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think it is possible to negotiate with the Calamity, you could even participate in the research on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest of them all in Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible!
3/ Neighborhood Woes...
The government of Aqures Ixen is sorry, but there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there are no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have be living with someone very cool and maybe an artist of great talent lives next door! It's just not likely.
4/ Crystallis De Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.
5/ A Thing Called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite it to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.
6/ A Thing Called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.
7/ I Believe I Can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can also borrow the Heroes of Light's official Airship, the Enterprise and some characters even have their own airship! You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.
8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore the ancient ruins that may hold some precious information in the continent of ruins. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere!
9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!
10/ Getting Jobs Is Hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe he simply asked you to assist him to clean the laboratory. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.
11/ The World Is Subject To Unrelenting Pain and Suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.
12/ Events Of The Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility or maybe you'd have liked to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have preferred to regain your true powers and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles or chase ghosts for a living. Or how about reliving some of your Worst Memories or fighting in A War for future of the world?
13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

"Yeah. Yeah, okay," he agreed for the time being. "Sorry. Just, um, don't tell Elena? I haven't told her, well, I haven't told anyone... anything. Ever."
Because lying clearly solved everything. Eventually he planned to handle it, but less immediately would be ideal.
"I'd totally understand, though, if you'd rather her take the lead on things. Um, but I guess the least I can do while I'm here is show you around a little if you want, help you find stuff. What's yer housing assignment?"
no subject
"Telling her isn't a priority right now. We'll keep this between us for the time being."
Rufus frowned a little at Reno's suggestion to have Elena take the lead on things. While he didn't doubt her capability at all, Reno was the more seasoned Turk between the two. It wouldn't make sense for him to change that up, even with the new dynamic between them. He trusted Reno to keep a professional and dedicated mindset to his job as a Turk, not letting personal feelings get in the way.
"You're a Turk, and I expect you to keep your duties despite what's happened." It was his way of saying that he didn't want Reno to step down. "I'm housed in B-04."
no subject
"Yes, si -- "
His eyes widened and his mouth ran dry. B-04.
"You've gotta be fuckin' kiddin' me," he blurted out without thinking. Any other circumstance, any other "reality," that would have been fine -- ideal, even! Maybe a little cramped, but certainly the idea of the assignment was to be helpful.
Unfortunately, in this case, it was not.

"Our living arrangement won't change." It was undoubtedly going to be awkward, but Rufus thought that he could push past that. He was confident that he could. As long as Reno didn't bring it up, maybe he could just pretend that nothing happened between them. Which. Nothing did happen in his view, but he wasn't sure if that was worse or not. To be the person that didn't know anything about a very personal issue, regardless of the content.
"We stayed together at the Healin' Lodge. I expect that to continue here."
no subject
"Well, congratulations, Boss -- we'll be sharing a bedroom now, and you'll be living with Tifa." He massaged his eyes with the heels of his palms, then pressed up to run -- or rather scratch -- his hands through his hair. "Wedge is gonna have my boot so far up his ass..."
Tifa had been someone he'd thankfully been able to avoid so far, sleeping on Vincent's couch. It might have been a little unfair, perhaps -- she might have been just as understanding as the other two AVALANCHE members, had he given her a chance. But there were memories of Atia there, too, which were simply easier to run from rather than confront. It looked like now he didn't have much of a choice.
"It's fine," he sighed. "It's fine. We'll deal with it for now."
no subject
Rufus heaved a sigh, an obvious sign that he wasn't as calm as he really was about everything. He just needed to focus on what he could do right now with the information he had.
"Do you know where Elena is living?" He wouldn't argue against moving to a different apartment, away from AVALANCHE members at least.
no subject
"B-09. Where she's been keeping an eye on Sephiroth." No, there was no good news.
Reno rubbed his mouth as he thought. "I'll see if -- no, when -- I can get us moved, but I dunno how long it'll take. If it's any consolation, from what I can tell, Tifa's from around our same time -- after the Remnants an' all that. So hopefully she'll be somewhat sympathetic instead of... well, not."
There was another option... "There is an inn downtown, near some of the pubs. Worse comes t' worst, I'll just pay for you t' stay there for awhile." He could afford that. Probably.
no subject
"Are we aware of which timeline he's from?"
Rufus wasn't really counting on Tifa to be too cordial with him, even after the business with the Remnants. But his mind was still focused on Sephiroth, the bigger threat to him than anyone from AVALANCHE.
"If it comes to that, but I don't intend to waste what resources we have here unless absolutely necessary. Just focus on relocation for the three of us."
no subject
"I'd hardly say he's harmless. But he seems genuinely... well, heroic here. We've had some words, a pretty big disagreement already, but he seems to actually be trying to fight his fate? I mean, he could've killed me by now, but he hasn't." It was pretty strange, actually, interacting with the young Silver General. Fresh-faced and eyes not yet so dead as they'd become. Reno shook his head.
"He definitely knows. But he's trying to change it anyway. Might actually make him more volatile." It was an awful lot of pressure to be under, especially when people who had reasons to hate him kept arriving. "I think his girlfriend has been calming him down."
Thinking of Terra, and the influence of people from other worlds... Reno perked up for a moment. "Actually -- I think I do have some good news, Boss. I think I found a helluva potential Turk here." Johnny had seemed intrigued by the notion, and he was capable -- Reno was sure of it. With a little more pointed training, Johnny would make a great Turk. Furthermore, while it was probably not a good idea to mix business with pleasure, having Johnny around might be just what Reno needed to get his mind off this awkwardness with Rufus.
no subject
They just needed to be prepared for the possibility.
"We'll just need to keep a close eye on him." Obviously they couldn't really stalk him all day long, but his point still stood.
Rufus raised an eyebrow at the recommendation. It's been a long time since they had a new Turk in their ranks. He trusted Reno's suggestion when it came to recruiting new Turks, so he was definitely a bit curious. "That so? Who is this person that you're recommending?" Of course he still needed to meet them in person and see what type of capabilities they had, but he was willing to listen to Reno now.
no subject
He almost felt bad, thinking about it. Even if Sephiroth could change, it was no doubt harder when so many people still were looking at him like a criminal, just waiting with the expectation he'd turn out to be a murdering psychopath. But he preferred his own security, and that of his friends, to Sephiroth's feelings.
"Rest assured, if Sephiroth so much 's sneezes the wrong way, he'll have a small army against him. All with very fancy powers of their own, thanks to our little Crystal friends like the one in that temple there."
It was actually kind of nice not to have the Silver General as his first, most demanding priority.
Reno smiled, and genuinely -- perhaps for the first time in a long time for Rufus to see. "Name's Johnny D'Amico. Self-trained badass with some rather defining physical features... Sound familiar?" He smirked and nodded down the street, figuring he might as well escort Rufus home while they talked. "I figure with some actual discipline, he'll be a real force to be reckoned with."
Considering Johnny already had enough discipline to consider himself a "soldier," he'd probably be easier to train than Reno had been.
no subject
Made it easier to focus on the threat of the Calamity. Although, Rufus wasn't going to ignore Sephiroth either. Doing so would be very careless of him.
He began to walk with Reno as he talked about the potential new recruit. "What weapons does he specialize in? Past history with fighting?" With only Reno and Elena here, getting more people to do his dirty work did sound appealing. Trusting him would probably take a long time, but perhaps they would eventually get there.
no subject
"Before here... Well, I know he was pulled into another world before, sorta like how the Crystal of Fire just did. This is his second world from wherever home is." Like Reno. "He doesn't talk about it much, but I know he was essentially forced into a militia of sorts back there. Not sure if he specialized in anything, but he's definitely had basics. Hand-to-hand and firearms, easily."
He sure was muscular enough to kick someone's ass... but Reno left that observation out, since it might be considered less than objective.
"Is he Rude or Tseng? No. But there's definitely something there."
no subject
He sounded like he was qualified, physically at least. His abilities were adequate enough. But Rufus definitely needed to talk with him in person and he didn't want to make a decision right away. There was a lot that went into being a Turk and the job definitely wasn't suited for everyone. Still, he was at least entertaining the thought because it was Reno's suggestion.
no subject
But that could wait until things had settled down -- or not. Whenever, or whatever, Rufus wished, Reno would oblige.
