Sephiroth ended up -accidentally?- inspiring Ib to do all the training and become a better hero? Kaji's name was mentioned but he hasn't met the guy yet.

So, if he sees Kaji around with Ib he may well keep an eye open for an opportunity to learn more about the man while completely denying he has any responsibility for Ib's well being.
