Test Drive Meme

Applications will open on June 30th at 15:00 EST and close on July 08th at 14:59 EST
— Reply with a character you wish to test in the game's setting.
— Feel free to use one of the prompts below or make one of your own!
— Tag around! This is a panfandom RP, so don't hesitate to tag both castmates and non-castmates.
— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome To The World Of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a legendary Hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. It's probably time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred very often this past year-- Maybe the characters who have been here for longer than you may help.
2/ Do You Like Your New Life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think it is possible to negotiate with the Calamity, you could even participate in the research on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest of them all in Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible!
3/ Neighborhood Woes...
The government of Aqures Ixen is sorry, but there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there are no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have be living with someone very cool and maybe an artist of great talent lives next door! It's just not likely.
4/ Crystallis De Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.
5/ A Thing Called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite it to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.
6/ A Thing Called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.
7/ I Believe I Can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can also borrow the Heroes of Light's official Airship, the Enterprise and some characters even have their own airship! You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.
8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore the ancient ruins that may hold some precious information in the continent of ruins. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere!
9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!
10/ Getting Jobs Is Hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe he simply asked you to assist him to clean the laboratory. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.
11/ The World Is Subject To Unrelenting Pain and Suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.
12/ Events Of The Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility or maybe you'd have liked to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have preferred to regain your true powers and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles or chase ghosts for a living. Or how about reliving some of your Worst Memories or fighting in A War for future of the world?
13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

Encounter-
Catching sight of Zell nearby he’d been about to comment when he noticed Zell going all out on the various goblins. It was strange seeing Zell, especially after checking on him periodically at the hospital and then seeing another version of him in Order’s Sanctuary’s Balamb Garden.
He decided to stand back and watch Zell for a few minutes noticing that he seemed agitated before he came into the clearing.
“...Need a hand?”
no subject
If anything, running into Squall here made him more frustrated and he might have hit harder than necessary on the next goblin he attacked. Squall was one of the very reasons he was frustrated to begin with. Now he had a constant reminder of it.
no subject
"You don't seem so sure."
If Zell wanted to be alone to smash up goblins, be his guest. That wouldn't bother Squall one bit as he appreciated alone time to brush off stream as much as the next person.
So he stood back and didn't proceed to help.
no subject
Before he could think too much about it, he focused finishing the fight. It didn't take long to take out the other two that were left. Once he was done, he turned to face Squall again. He tried and failed to look unaffected by Squall's presence, frowning slightly at him. "Didn't know you knew how to fight. You get a job recently?"
no subject
If it wasn’t for the knowledge he had now that everyone seemed to come from different timelines he might have given Zell a more irritated reply. Luckily Bartz had explained everything.
Though, it did make him feel guarded now.
He lifted his left arm and pulled back his sleeve slightly to show Zell the wrist piece that would allow him to summon is Magitek Armor. It makes a little click.
“Magitek Knight. Not that I never knew how to fight before.”
no subject
Minimagra, who had been watching the fight before as she couldn't really do anything to help with it, flew closer to Squall now that the fight was over. She looked at him curiously but didn't say anything and still kept a respectable distance.
Zell didn't pay any mind to her, as it was usual for her to sometimes inspect or study people and places. "What did you fight with?" He asked Squall instead. It wasn't really common for the locals to fight, was it? Maybe it was more proof that Squall maintained some of his old self, even though he had no memory of his old life at all. Maybe they could at least be friends again, despite the way their 'first' meeting ended.
no subject
“…Still a Gunblade. Then and now.” He said calmly, his expression careful and guarded now.
When Minimagra inspected him he looked up at the moogle and stared right back. In response, Blizzara popped out from her hiding spot in Squall’s jacket collar and peeps quietly at her.
no subject
Minimagra, however, came to a conclusion that was more like how things really were. She opened her mouth to tell Zell, but Blizzara suddenly popped out and stopped her. Zell made a surprised step back. Minimagra, who was closer, turned her would-be words into a gasp and she flew into the air a little higher in surprise.
After a second, Minimagra settled herself back to a normal level and there were hints of a smile in her eyes before she turned back to Zell. "As I thought, kupo. He is not the one you were thinking of."
Still surprised, and with Minimagra's words to confirm what possibility there was now that he knew Squall had a moogle too, he stepped closer a bit. "Squall? Do... do you know me? I mean, do you remember me?! N-not from the time I showed up at your house!"
no subject
“Of course I know you, why wouldn’t I. What are you talking about? What’s all this about I’m not the one you were thinking of?”
Blizzara peeped again, fluttering out of his jacket to sit properly on Squall’s shoulder and she waved happily at Zell.
no subject
"Because there's... ah... it's kind of a long story." Not super long, but he didn't have just a straight answer without having to explain other things too. He at least wanted Squall to understand that and agree to hearing all of it.
no subject
Squall looked back at Zell. "It'll be better that you explain because just a moment ago you were treating me like I had two heads."
He's somewhat irritated.
no subject
Zell looked down and put a hand to the back of his head. "Ah, sorry about that."
Dropping his hand and looking back up, Zell's expression turned very serious. It wasn't exactly a great story and the whole situation messed their house up quite a bit. "So, it happened about a year and a half ago, before I... went into crystal stasis. It was exactly like the kinda 'dreams' Ellone made us go through." But before Squall could say anything about that, Zell quickly added. "I checked, it wasn't her! She wasn't here. But anyway, in that dream, I was you from a really long time ago." He frowned. "I mean, really you, from home and everything! But you'd been here for years, got really strong in a bunch of jobs, probably one of the strongest here. But the whole time none of us showed up and you'd only became friends with some blond guy named 'Roxas'.
"Anyway, the calamity was spreading really bad. It was pretty much get rid of it or die time, but still no one knew how to do it! You were on a mission with a group of people, running from..." he gulped, remembering the unsettling image. "Running from a group of crystal stasis looking type enemies, only they looked like everyone from home. After so many years of not seein' us at all..."
"The bridge collapsed and half the team was taken out. You saved Roxas, but the rest of the group started fighting and accusing someone of rigging the bridge to explode. You didn't have time for it and moved on ahead. Eventually the rest of the group followed, but..."
He paused again. Longer this time. "But another one went off and you died." He shook his head. "When we woke up we were told you guys failed and lost everything." His frown deepened. He wasn't sure how that worked since they were still alive right now. "But your spirits stayed since you didn't have anywhere else to go and we were given an address. We went there and you were there... only you were local and didn't remember any of us or anything from home!"
no subject
It was all very irritating for Squall. Could people stop telling him about other hims? That would be great.
He crossed his arms in defiance. “Either way… I don’t remember any of that and I wasn’t involved no matter what you remember. So you can forget about any of that ever happening.”
Blizzara patted him on the cheek, as if consoling him. He swatted at her to stop.
“I’m here, and now. From our home and this is the first time I’ve been in Crystallis. Is that clear? I’m not dead or a reincarnation that doesn’t remember anything.”
no subject
But after all the messed up feelings he had after waking from that dream where he experienced the unspoken and hardened loneliness and then death of his best friend, after seeing him afterwards with absolutely no memory of anything and a local, Zell was elated that the real and normal Squall he knew was here. Feeling nothing but the absolute joy for a moment, he quickly moved forward to hug Squall tightly before he knew what he was doing.
He pulled away before Squall could react, but a bright smile lit his face. "Yeah, I got it!"
no subject
Luckily Zell does let go before Squall could shove him off. Smart move, Dincht.
He sighed one last time before rolling his shoulders. Whatever strange timeline difference they all had, one thing was clear. Now that Zell was here he could feel more reassured that crystal stasis wasn’t death. People at the hospital all treated them likes corpses but Zell was living proof that wasn’t the case.
And he’s glad that this whole doppelganger issue wouldn’t be causing problems for him.
“Have you seen Selphie yet? She’ll be happy to see you.”
