Test Drive Meme

Applications will open on October 31st at 15:00 EST and close on November 08th at 14:59 EST
— Reply with a character you wish to test in the game's setting.
— Feel free to use one of the prompts below or make one of your own!
— Tag around! This is a panfandom RP, so don't hesitate to tag both castmates and non-castmates.
— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome To The World Of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a legendary Hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. It's probably time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred very often this past year-- Maybe the characters who have been here for longer than you may help.
2/ Do You Like Your New Life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think it is possible to negotiate with the Calamity, you could even participate in the research on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest of them all in Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible!
3/ Neighborhood Woes...
The government of Aqures Ixen is sorry, but there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there are no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have be living with someone very cool and maybe an artist of great talent lives next door! It's just not likely.
4/ Crystallis De Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.
5/ A Thing Called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite it to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.
6/ A Thing Called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.
7/ I Believe I Can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can also borrow the Heroes of Light's official Airship, the Enterprise and some characters even have their own airship! You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.
8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore the ancient ruins that may hold some precious information in the continent of ruins. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere!
9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!
10/ Getting Jobs Is Hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe he simply asked you to assist him to clean the laboratory. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.
11/ The World Is Subject To Unrelenting Pain and Suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.
12/ Events Of The Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility or maybe you'd have liked to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have preferred to regain your true powers and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles or chase ghosts for a living. Or how about reliving some of your Worst Memories or fighting in A War for future of the world?
13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

[She recalls Guy once saying that if you looked up evil in the dictionary, you'd probably see Jade's face. Needling people was one way of saying that nicely, probably.]
[Still, that last thing Rukia says makes Anise think. It's not something she expected to hear, almost like the universe was out of whack.]
You know, I think you should say that to him when you bring him his food. In those exact words.
[As much as Jade liked to joke off things not affecting him, Anise suspects that he still had some guilt, buried deep. Hearing something like that might help him work through everything, or at the very least would make him a little bit happier.]
[Also, she wants to see how he reacts. She's pretty sure that he'll be embarrassed, and that sounds like a once in a lifetime opportunity.]
no subject
Perhaps I should.
[There are so many others she should thank for being a part of her life. She shouldn't take those people for granted, and Jade does deserve to know that she does truly care for him as a friend. Of course, as she resumes her work, she chuckles.]
Although he may fear that I'll embrace him again. He didn't say as much, but it was obvious he isn't accustomed to such things.
no subject
[Which is why, when Rukia drops the E-bomb, she practically short-circuits.]
Embrace? You hugged him?
[She always kinda figured he'd melt at the first sign of physical contact.]
no subject
Should I not have done so?
[Perhaps she should just give up on the paperwork for now, she's finding this discussion interesting.]
I wasn't certain how I could better convey the sincerity of my feelings. I did want to make it clear how truly grateful I was.
no subject
No, you probably should have. I don't think he's used to hugs, though. Or sincerity. Or feelings.
[Especially feelings.]
no subject
That's disappointing. I don't think he's undeserving of those things.
[There's much she could say, but she isn't certain just how well Jade and Anise know one another, and how much he's confided to her. She knows he doesn't open up easily, and she'd be a poor friend to confess his secrets without his permission.]
He's treated me with great kindness and understanding. I would like to give the same, if I am able.
no subject
You're right, he isn't. I think you guys are good for each other. I'll be rooting for you.
no subject
I'm not certain I understand what you mean. Good for each other?
[Should she just say 'thank you' and leave it at that, or would that result in unfounded rumors? What's more, she's worried about the sadness in that smile. Rukia exhales and smiles gently at Anise, reaching across the table to squeeze her hands.]
Be at ease...I'm not going to take him away from you. We're not romantic.
[It may be that Anise has a crush on him herself, or perhaps she's afraid that Rukia will occupy all of Jade's time and leave Anise out of it. Either way, she doesn't have any intention of breaking a little girl's heart.]
no subject
[Now that Rukia was flustered, Anise was back on the offensive, where she felt more comfortable. She's not gonna give up easily.]
Are you sure? Boxed lunches sound pretty romantic.
[Anise saw him more like a father than anything, but there was nobody who needed to know that.]
no subject
[She speaks rather calmly for someone whose face is getting pretty red. She'd never really considered the possibility of falling in love with Jade, or anyone else after Raven for that matter. She had her shot, she was happy, and now it was over. Rukia was simply grateful she got to experience such a thing just once. Why demand more?]
[She exhales quietly and releases Anise's hands.]
Remember too that I am a soul reaper. The dead have no right to claim the love of the living. Ultimately, I would make him unhappy.
no subject
[Anise trails off. There were things that she should say, things she shouldn't say, and things that certain party members would probably kill her for. This definitely falls under the latter.]
He needs people more than he lets on. I think. [Nothing was ever a certainty with Jade. She'd learned this by now.]
He likes to act independent, but he cares a lot for people. He's just really bad at showing it. [Nine times out of ten, it came out with sarcasm. The other times were all scolding.]
And I don't think so. You seem pretty alive for me.
no subject
[She smiles, allowing her gaze to drift toward the window.]
I am fond of him. Were he to ask for such a thing, knowing well that there would be limitations and consequences...
[Her shoulders hitch.]
I don't think I would be opposed. But I do think he might prefer a woman from his own world, don't you?
no subject
[But, as Rukia's response is genuine, so is Anise's smile.]
Nah, you're good. I don't think it'd work with someone from home.
[Between the military, his reputation, and everything else, it was hard to imagine Jade settling down on Auldrant.]
[But here, it might work.]
no subject
[Honestly, she has to admit that she's rather flattered by Anise's opinion. She's never been told that she'd be good with someone before. ...Outside of Chappopo's opinions, of course, but the Moogle wasn't all that picky about Rukia's options.]
[She leans her cheek into her hand, thinking it over. It isn't as if she has any objections...he's intelligent, witty, and thoughtful. They'd shared some fairly emotional moments with one another, and that was a deep level of trust she didn't have with too many others in this world.]
It depends on what he wants, in the end. I'm not...a romantic sort of person by nature.
[Rukia chuckles a little.]
I suppose it might be nice, to feel needed in that way.
[Surely that's enough of that, though. Paperwork needs to be done.]
You're exceptionally concerned for his happiness, aren't you? You must have been through a lot together.
no subject
[As far as she knew, the only woman Jade really had in his life was Nephry. It was hard to imagine anybody on Auldrant being able to get close to him, both practically and on an emotional level.]
He isn't either, don't worry.
[To date, the only emotion she'd ever seen him express was sarcasm.]
[Rukia's last comment manages to get a sad smile out of her; Anise doesn't know how much Rukia knows, and she's not about to go spilling secrets--about her or Jade.]
You could say that. What happened back home is kind of a long story.
no subject
[Rukia's curious speculations will have to wait, though, because once that sad smile emerges a second time, her concerns continue to deepen.]
I know of some things.
[Concerning the professor, in any case. But there's still a lot she doesn't know about Anise or Jade, so it's possible there's more they're keeping to themselves.]
I wouldn't want to pry if it's a sensitive matter to you. But I'm willing to listen if you're troubled, Anise.
