the 'born this way' meme

Your character might have just wandered over to the large gathering of people to see what was going on, but OH NO they are now wearing a t-shirt with their shameful secret or an embarrassing fact clearly written on it! They can try to hide it, but they can't remove it, and now everyone's seen it! Will you try to dismiss it? Or will you own your difference?
1. Post with your t-shirt contents in the subject line or starting comment. (The shorter, the better.) List more than one if you'd like.
2. Check out what other characters around yours are wearing.
3. Tag people for empathy, encouragement, explanations or merciless mocking.

So? Aren't you going to tell me, then? I mean, if it was a long time ago then it hardly matters now.

[He never really bothered to count. Being a temporal fish out of water has its downsides. So many years don't matter. He still shifts his hooves just slightly. This might be a fight he helped pick, but...]
I met the King while I was in a cell. But I wasn't thrown in jail. I could've escaped if I wanted to. It's just...complicated. Why am I the only one talking about this, anyways? You're the one who isn't a princess!

dylas why is she imagining you sitting by yourself in a jail cell... again. brooding. again. ... and why does she even care. )
Perhaps you'd like to see my dungeon too, in that case? If that's what it takes for you to believe you're meeting royalty, I mean.

[That's not far from the truth, actually.]
I'd believe you have a dungeon. I'd be more surprised if you didn't have one.
[But he's going to continue telling this story because it's a meme and he'd never talk about it otherwise.]
The king wanted me to escape. They left the cell door open and watched me, hoping I'd leave. But I didn't. Because someone needed to be the sacrifice. It just didn't...end up killing me.

what is this 'sympathy' garbage. and why does he have to look so morose when he's talking about this... )
So, you volunteered to be the sacrifice, is that it? A sacrifice for what, exactly? And why... ( she looks off before asking this next question, away from his face. ) did you think to be the one in the first place?

It's more complicated than that. The magic in the kingdom was dying. We wouldn't have crops or magic without it.
[He sighs, looking straight down at his hooves.]
It was going to be me or my only friend, alright? And Ventuswill...she would have stopped me if she'd known. So I went without telling her.

somehow, she isn't surprised... )
Of course you did. ( she looks over her shoulder, back towards him. something akin to pity in her eye. or was it sadness? ) I hope this friend of yours, Ventuswill, discovered your little plot.

[He's not even going to look at her, this is so awkward for him. He's angry that they're not talking about her instead, but.]
Nope. It worked. Sort of. There were two people before me who did the same exact thing to her. Leon, and then Dolce. A few hundred years after me, a girl named Amber did the same thing to Ventuswill. Each time, she lost her closest friend.
