— Most importantly, have fun!

1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.

2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.

3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.

4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.

5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.

7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.

9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Jessie to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility. Or maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles.

13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

Noel Kreiss | Final Fantasy XIII-2

[personal profile] oracledriven 2014-12-01 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[1: sudden unexpected not-ending-world?]
[It's not the darkness that's unexpected -- it's the fact that it ends. After everything that had happened, after their battle with Caius, after the chaos--

...Noel wasn't sure what more there could possibly be.

The world around him is whole, but it's not his. There are glimpses of Pulse, of Academia, in the technology and the architecture...but that's all they are. Tiny hints that toy with his memories. But what else can he do? Strange crystal in hand, he begins to walk, to wander, to explore, occasionally glancing over his shoulder for a while before--]

Look. [His eyes are on a rather excited-looking moogle, who's been trailing behind him for a while.] You don't have to keep following me around, alright? I-- ...I'm not exactly a hero.

[8: lookin' for monsters]
["I'm scared, kupo!" The exclamation is met with a grin as Noel and Moro traipse through the wilds outside of the city. He feels anxious, in a place like this, able to go from place to place and yet unable to do anything with any impact. Exploring helps him keep his worries at bay, helps to keep him from brooding too much.

Besides, these new powers as a --what'd they call it?-- "red mage" need some testing.]

I told you that you should've stayed at home.

[She whines a little, fluttering beside him as if there's something about to pop out from behind a corner. "I couldn't let you come out here on your own, kupo!"

As odd as moogles are, he can't help but appreciate the company, and shoots her a grateful look.]

We won't be too long. Alright?

[13: Wildcard]
[Got another idea? Throw it at me!]

"Telling him that won't do you any good."

The voice came from behind, a rather tall woman, her own significantly more subdued moogle floating a half-pace behind, standing there with her arms crossed. It was hard to say if she was smiling or not, as she gently shrugged; "I've tried telling this one that, but he won't listen. I've learned to just go with it.

"I take it you just got here?" She asked, a smirk finally breaking through.

[personal profile] oracledriven 2014-12-02 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I'm starting to get that," Noel says with a nod. "She doesn't exactly seem keen on listening." Moro nods, bobbing up and down like she's proud of that -- no other creature but a moogle would have that attitude, and he nudges her a little because of it. Despite the disorientation that comes with being in a new and unfamiliar place, it's hard to entirely be serious with so many of the cute little things around.

His grin fades at the question, though, becoming a more curious expression.

"Good guess. You're right -- I am." Arms crossed, he studies the woman for a moment. "What about you? Are you from this world?"

She thought as much. Celes had been in the same boat not a month ago, and she had gotten pretty good at picking out the newcomers. "A hunch," She chuckled, with a bit of a half-smile. She seemed amused at least, meeting his analyzing gaze with her own.

She was cute, his moogle. A lot more active than her own, who was much happier at home, sleeping or doing whatever it was he did when she wasn't around.

"I got here a month ago, along with a few others."

[personal profile] oracledriven 2014-12-05 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
As tense as he feels, being in a new place so unexpectedly, her attitude helps him to loosen up a bit, and he returns e smile.

"So I'm not the only one in this situation," he muses, glancing around for a moment. "Is this...a common thing? People being brought here with no warning?"
nonchere: (You play melodies of love)

[personal profile] nonchere 2014-12-05 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
A chuckle. "Hardly. From what I understand, there's been a constant trickle of people coming in from different worlds. It definitely makes things interesting around here." Taking a moment to glance at their surroundings, the blond shifted her weight slightly. She wasn't keen on being here herself, as there was a lot of work to be done back home; she wasn't going to let him know that, at least. "So, have you found anyone from your world yet?"
oracledriven: (talk; calm)

[personal profile] oracledriven 2014-12-08 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
"Interesting?" He offers a brief chuckle at that. "I guess that's a word for it. Why are we here, anyway? Who brought us here?"

As for her question...he pauses, slightly shifts his weight. That's a whole nother bag of questions and riddles he hasn't even begun to untangle. "I have. Yeah. Is that common, too? Finding people you know?" Finding people who should be dead? He can't bring himself to ask that part.

Aren't you?

[Yeul stands behind Noel happy to see someone that she knows. It feels like its been so long since she woke up here.

Hibiscus, her moogle, flies by her side protectively.]
oracledriven: (i don't wanna be a proud man)

[personal profile] oracledriven 2014-12-02 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[That voice. Impossible. That's...that's impossible. Isn't it? Noel's breath catches in his throat, and for a moment, he doesn't move; Moro, hovering beside him, puts one small paw on his shoulder.

He turns his head slowly, and after a moment, his body follows. He had been expecting a trick of his mind, or some kind of strong memory, but no. It's no trick. She's really there...and there's no other way to put it -- he's utterly speechless.]

Yeul...
enduringflower: (Laughing)

[personal profile] enduringflower 2014-12-02 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[She smiles up at him. This is so much to be said but for now she is happy.]

Hello Noel.
oracledriven: (neutral; regret)

[personal profile] oracledriven 2014-12-02 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
You...

[Much to be said doesn't even begin to cover it, and yet, Noel doesn't even know where to start. There is a part of him that refuses to believe this, refuses to believe that she's there, that she's real...

Numbly, he puts a hand out, brushes his fingers against her arm, recoils at how solid she feels.]

You're really here. [He exhales, shakily; forgive him, Yeul, it's gonna take him a few minutes to really process this.]
enduringflower: (Child)

[personal profile] enduringflower 2014-12-02 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yeul is patent. She silently waits watching as Noel affirms that she is there.

It is such a simple idea or thought. She is here and more than that, she is no longer cursed to see the future.]

Yes. Our family is together now.
oracledriven: (neutral; on the surface)

[personal profile] oracledriven 2014-12-02 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Family?

[He asks that, but it's clear from his expression that he knows who Yeul means. There's only one person she could mean. Just as easily as the world began to right itself, it begins to topple all over again -- none of this makes any sense, but he shouldn't have been surprised. Where she goes, he follows...right?]

...So, Caius is here too. [Confusion (and guilt, perhaps) is all over his face, but there's relief, too -- at the very least, that means she hasn't been alone.]
enduringflower: (light smile)

[personal profile] enduringflower 2014-12-02 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes but, he leaves the city a lot.

[For a brief moment Yeul seems unsure but it quickly melts away in place of a smile. Things have been changing between them and she wonders if Caius will be okay.]

I'm happy you are here.

[It feels like a redundant statement but she hasn't put it into words before now. So many things could be spoken without saying a word but she wants Noel to hear her and know she means it.]
oracledriven: (neutral; sunset)

[personal profile] oracledriven 2014-12-02 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[There's no mistaking it now, this is his Yeul. The one he grew up with, the one he remembers...her smile still tears at his heart and memories.

He can't help it -- he takes a step forward, bridging the distance between them, and puts his arms around her. The last time he'd done so was moments before she died, before he thought he'd lost everything. He's lost even more than that since then, but still...]

I've missed you so much.
enduringflower: (light smile)

[personal profile] enduringflower 2014-12-02 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I told you it'd be okay.

[Yeul gently wraps her arms around him while Hibiscus looks on confused. She wiggles her little moogle legs in the air no longer wanting to stay silent.]

This is a friend of yours, kopu?
oracledriven: (talk; u trollin?)

[personal profile] oracledriven 2014-12-02 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[He offers a slight smile.]

I know, I know. I should've listened to you. [Like always. Like nothing had ever happened. He can pretend for a little while. Moro flutters a little closer to Hibiscus, whispering to her rather loudly.]

Kupopo...they must know each other!

[Noel lets go, then, putting a hand on his hip, looking at the two moogles with a shaky grin.]

Forgot about our shadows, here. [Moro looks positively affronted by the implication.]
enduringflower: (oh yeah)

[personal profile] enduringflower 2014-12-02 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hibiscus is noticeably protective of her hero. She flies to Yeuls side as soon as their embrace ends and grabs onto the edge of her skirt.]

This is Hibiscus. She's been helping me.

[Mostly with things like cooking but Yeul doesn't have to mention her embarrassments at trying to use a stove.]

oracledriven: (i wanna slay my demons)

[personal profile] oracledriven 2014-12-02 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Noel nods in greeting at the moogle.]

My name's Noel. Nice to meet you, Hibiscus.

[Moro, meanwhile, is more outgoing, and before he has a chance to mention her, she flies closer to Yeul to get a better look at her...and to make her own introduction, thankyouverymuch.]

And I'm Moro, kupo. So you two are friends, huh? That's so nice!
enduringflower: (cute)

[personal profile] enduringflower 2014-12-02 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[She smiles at the little moogle and tilts her head slightly as a greeting.]

Yes, I am Yeul.

[There is still so much to say. Yeul almost wants to ask Noel about the troubles that have been on her mind but she doesn't want to ruin this moment. It isn't something she's been able to put into words yet either.]

servaturus: (The Darkness awaits you quietly.)

[personal profile] servaturus 2014-12-05 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Upon hearing the word hero, it felt as if his whole body froze. He hadn't been called one in so long yet others were throwing away the title as if it meant nothing. His brow set stern, he made his approach toward the familiar voice. He thought of the worst, that Noel had failed and was brought here to right the wrongs done.

There was a bit of nostalgia that flitted his mind though that was in a past long ago that he would never see again. He pushed it aside and muscled through the memories to the present.

"You will come to expect that many will call you hero." Caius spoke with surety through his approaching steps from the shadows of the adjacent buildings. The black knight was anything but pleased.

Passersby gave quick glances toward Caius and quickly moved away. He stood out in the falling snow and he looked as cold as the ice forming on the awnings.
oracledriven: (neutral; on the surface)

[personal profile] oracledriven 2014-12-05 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
That voice chills Noel to the bone far more than the snow does.

For a moment, he doesn't move, frozen in place. His breath is steady but shallow, clouding the cold air in front of his face. Part of him wonders, with a pang of regret, if this isn't the afterlife --whatever kind of place that might be-- after all. Whatever the case whatever the reason...hearing that voice again is not easy. He never thought to prepare himself for this possibility, not after the man's death. Not after Noel killed him.

"Yeah? That'll be hard to get used to." He gives a short laugh, without mirth, and that's when he turns to look at the man, confirming that it is indeed him. That he's real.

"...I never expected to see you here, Caius."
servaturus: (Kill me.)

[personal profile] servaturus 2014-12-05 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hm." He smirked and lifted his chin slightly in response.

Through the centuries, through all the leaping through time and how he came to teach the boy to become the hunter he became, it was just as hard on Caius. His heart met the young man's blade with no remorse save for one; he didn't die with Yeul as he wanted. Perhaps it was for the best.

Another step out of the cast shadow from the buildings and purple eyes came into focus. He wanted to reach out to touch Noel's shoulder, to give some recompense that his regret wasn't Noel's burden to bear, but the damage was done. Instead, his thoughts were only on one thing and that was for Yeul.

"She waits for you." He lifted his head toward the street and the same direction that Yeul resided in.

Caius lived on the other side of the residential areas and far away from Yeul. It was a minor annoyance and for the better. All he wanted was for her to live a normal life and if that meant living apart, he was willing to give that space. It never changed the fact that both men failed at some point, and something that he chose not to dwell on.
oracledriven: (neutral; swore an oath)

sorry for the late response, it's been a crazy week!

[personal profile] oracledriven 2014-12-08 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
The rift between them is palpable, wrought with tension and regret for both of them. The silence that hangs between them for a good minute is colder than the snow, and Noel's eyes narrow very slightly, almost imperceptibly, as he tries to parse those words.

"You mean Yeul," he says --not a question but a statement-- and his eyes follow the direction Caius motions in.

She had said that they lived apart -- her and Caius, that is. He assumes it was a decision that Caius had made, not her. It makes sense, in a strange way. He wanted her to be free...maybe he meant free of him, too. It's a moment before he turns back to Caius, offers any kind of response.

"How can you be sure of that?" It's a question, but one he asks with certainty. This Yeul is the one he grew up with, who remembers him. But she's still Yeul, who died and was reborn again and again to be with Caius.
servaturus: (I am immortal.)

No worries. It's the holiday shopping season and weekends are crazier.

[personal profile] servaturus 2014-12-08 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
He lowered his arm and returned his gaze back toward Noel. Caius was only certain of things he could control, but the heart was something that he couldn't. He had no definite answer to Noel's question.

He lifted his chin enough to turn his gaze toward the sky. The question carried a lot more weight than anticipated. Noel knew him far too well, and Caius had thought he had hidden his true self well. He was wrong. Noel, even as a child held a special place in Caius' memories. With the only remaining tribe left of the Farseers at the end of time, Caius had allowed himself to open up. He was so certain of everything up until now.

With a deep breathe, he looked toward Noel once more and locked his gaze. It was a maddening thing to see the ones he thought he had left behind. "Finality is fickle through uncertain fog. I ponder these equations upon the edge of the blade. I cannot be certain of the spider's web this world weaves. Each new life that appears creates another strand that cannot be foreseen." He slowly turned toward the direction of the crystal. "No one is unable to escape the weaver."

He thought back to the day that his powers had returned and his scowl deepened. The cold weather outside was warmer than what his heart had felt that ill fated day.
