1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.

2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.

3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.

4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.

5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.

7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.

9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Jessie to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility. Or maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles.

13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

Elan the Bard, Order of the Stick

[personal profile] trope_attack 2014-11-24 01:43 am (UTC)(link)
1. It's pretty widely known that Intelligence is Elan's dump stat. He's gotten a bit better as Plot keeps hitting him with the +5 Hammer of Character Development, but that doesn't mean he can make great intellectual leaps.)

Half the classes were ones he'd never heard of. Finally, his moogle asked him what he wanted to do, and set him up with Red Mage/Illusionist. Elan felt a bit like his brother, but it really was the simplest thing he could come up with. "Will singing help?"

"Probably not," his moogle said.

"But it won't hurt, will it?"

10. Someone told Elan that a lady made new classes. Which seemed fishy to him, but he wanted to be a bard again. So he was hunting for rare bird monsters to gather feathers. "Do, do, do the boring fetch-quest," he sang.

If the birds had any sense, they'd stay away. On the other hand, annoying not-bards singing can be big targets.

Guy Cecil | Tales of the Abyss

7

[Airships. Out of everything that Guy wanted and needed to know about life in Aqures Ixen, the airships were among the top items on the list. The majority of the fleet seemed to be made of classical styled frigates, of the sort that were ideal for crossing an ocean-- how they were able to sail through the air with little effort absolutely fascinated him.]

How do you think they work? [He asked, ostensibly to the moogle that was hanging out on his shoulder, as he stared up at the glorious white sails billowing in the breeze.]

6

[Daisy had vanished without any explanation besides 'Moogle Business', leaving Guy to fend for himself if he wanted to find out what was going on. And, what better place was there to pick up on the local news than at the local pub?

Strangers are more than welcome to chat up the friendly blond sitting at the bar, maybe even try to buy him a few drinks if they want, though they'll find that he's a complete gentleman in every regard.

They had just be careful about trying more than friendly conversation. That might not go entirely as planned.]

[1]
Like most folks, this new arrival is arguing with his moogle about this deal. Except this one is not only loud, he's also very strange-looking. Thankfully his moogle is a patient one, and seems impervious to being yelled at by an obnoxious New Yorker.

"No, I don't care what some crystal says, or what this stupid outfit's supposed to mean. I ain't a hero. Not even close. Pretty much the goddamn opposite. So send me back and swap me out for someone who'll give a shit, okay?"

[11]
At the Blitzball stadium, this new hero has been transfixed. Johnny's never been one much for sports, but this is too much of a spectacle to ignore. He's never seen anything like it. He'll elbow the nearest crowd member for their attention to ask questions.

"Hey, how do they do that? I mean, is it like, magic or somethin'? Cuz if it ain't, that's pretty impressive."

James Kidd | Assassin's Creed 4 - Black Flag

[personal profile] not_most_days 2014-11-24 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
2) Life in this new city was tricky, but not impossible. The problem was the quiet. Even with the monsters outside and the tales the adventurers told of a possible imperial incursion, something seemed off. People seemed too happy with their lives and Kidd couldn't help but be suspicious. The young pirate had managed to shake the moogle with relative ease and was now people watching in a back alley bar. These thief clothes felt odd, but they did their job, and it was nice to still have a pair of knives at the ready.

The Assassin sat at the back of the bar, taking occasional pulls from a bottle of wine while making all effort to avoid the eyes of the other patrons. It wasn't anything out of the ordinary for Kidd. Sit back, drink quietly, listen to the stories around you. Become a part of the scenery.

9) Surprise was the key to a successful assault. Kidd could win in a fight one on one, but Assassin training encouraged attacking from a secluded location. The young pirate clad in thief garb perched quietly in a tree as the coeurl moved beneath. All that was needed was the right moment to strike.

The feline monster sniffed the air, detecting a scent, but Kidd didn't move. Patience. Quiet. Only let it hear the sound of the wind in the leaves and the birds chirping. Vanish into the background.

Just another moment more...

3 (There's a problem with the dress code)

A very tall, almost amazonian woman is strutting down the street, the high-pitched squealing of a Moogle fluttering behind her, though more or less her cries go unheard much thanks to the grandiose amount of hair trailing behind her. The disadvantage of all that hair, and her current state is that she has no means of managing length that is more than twice her own height. The pros; it's keeping her DECENT. Her robes are draped over one arm as she searches the housing for the address that should be hers, but aside from her hair...

...she's not wearing anything. And she seems quite comfortable with it. Though her Moogle is protesting it, as well as other passer-by's, she's ignoring their please of decency. Can you make a valid argument to convince her?

7 (I'm supposed to be ABLE to fly...)

Valvalis has made her way to the most exposed part of the airship, with or without permission. Though she takes no risks of say, dangling over a railing, she stares out into the vast skies a bit forlorn.

"I feel like I'm not supposed to be on one of these..." she mutters to herself, more or less likely to the fluffball she's holding against her chest.

"But why?"

"There was a time I was tasked to shoot these out of the sky. No, shoot is a terrible word for it... Rend them from their wings... Yes, that's more fitting." she says.

"But that was so very long ago."

1) She sat up and stretched, letting out a brief yawn as she peered around, golden eyes twinkling in the light of the crystals in a not entirely wholesome way. Putting on her elevator attendant's hat she stood up and looked at all of the white fluffy things around her.

"How odd, to think that somewhere the sea of the soul would take this form as well. I wonder if they know it is not my place to save the world, merely to assist those who would, even if my dereliction of duty was to some degree to do just that thing."

[1.]
Given what he'd just done, he'd expected darkness. Endless dark actually. It's when he sees the red among the dark that he suspects things haven't quite happened as he thought they would. He also knows well enough the feeling of the compulsion that impels him to reach out toward that sole patch of color and warmth. Though given a choice, his curiosity would have no doubt ended up causing the same thing.

Waking was as unexpected as the sight of the fluttering bundle of fur in front of him. Those who happen to walk by would find a man robed in ivy green locked in rather civil conversation with the female moogle before him. Depending upon when they happened to pass by, they might hear him ironically remark he found it rather amusing that he's gone from being the villain of one story to the hero of another one.

[4.]
The Chocobo's are an interesting creature. He's seen them around the place these last few days and given their importance has decided to set about the task of actually acquiring one for his own personal use. Hopefully luck will be on this side and succeeding in this task won't take him most of the day to accomplish.

Knowing his luck, he's bound to end up meeting enemy creatures in the process of this. Which while he might not have worried about his ability to take care of himself back 'home', here he's very much mortal and has no abilities beyond these so called jobs he's been granted.

While the paladin is somewhat useful in itself, the illusionist seems to be lacking, though according to Isabella that may change should he find himself an ally to fight beside. Once he's finished with this, he may look into seeing about how to go about gaining something more useful to pair with the paladin.

Ingus | Final Fantasy III

[personal profile] knight_of_sasune 2014-11-27 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
1.

The Red Mage robes were familiar and comfortable on him, and Ingus dipped his head to adjust his hat minutely. This world was... Well. After all he and the others had been through, after finding the world beneath, he thought that they'd freed it, and then everything had...shattered. The world had broken apart around him, and then there had been a friendly little Moogle waking him up. She'd kupo'd at him cheerfully, explaining the whole situation, and it just seemed impossible. He and his friends had been prophesied as the Heroes of Light, and however strange that had been, it had made sense, had felt right. But now he wasn't one of four, he was apparently one of many, and the story and prophecy were different.

"Where to now?" he asked softly, and his little Moogle bobbed cheerfully along at his side. He hadn't named her yet, but he was thinking of perhaps naming her Aria.

"Well, where do you want to go, kupo?" She did a circle in the air, little wings fluttering.

3.

Ingus was used to living with others, first in the barracks of Sasune castle, and then with his friends as they quested across the world. The sheer...diversity of the people that he lived with now, well, that was the interesting thing. Ingus simply did his best to be polite and courteous to all, and not get himself or his few things in the way.

7.

He leaned up against the railing of the airship, closing his eyes as the wind blew through his hair. This ship was different from the one that he had flown before, but the feeling of the travel was much the same. There was so much to see in this new land, and he wanted to journey across it all. He'd lost the chance to see all of the surface world of his home, and he didn't want to lose the chance here. And perhaps it could allow him to find out more about what he was supposed to do here, how he was supposed to help save this world.

The Realm of Darkness was known for its bits of light. But never had it drawn so much light that the very fabric of reality shattered. For a moment, she thought Sora had done it and she was freed finally. But that was not the case, it seemed, and the boy would have to fight without her for a little while longer as she gathered her wits, here at the Crystal of Fire. She was certainly wearing a bit of armor as well, reminding her of her Keyblade Armor a little. At least it was in blue, her signature color.

"Hello there, Master Aqua," A small voice came from behind.

Aqua turned and found herself looking at a pale pink moogle. It wore little glasses on its nose and held her Wayfinder in its tiny paws. "I believe this is yours, kupo, it fell when you arrived. My name is Marina, a pleasure to meet you, kupo."

Aqua retrieved her charm and smiled warmly at the moogle. "Please. Aqua is just fine, Marina. It's a pleasure to meet you as well. Can you tell me where I am?"

Marina nodded with a smile and soon, began to tell her Hero the tale of her new destiny here in Crystallis.

4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
[This was much easier with a chocobo who was already part of a stable, and with someone who knew how to handle it. Still, it'll be a long sight better than having to travel by foot- and she'd love to have the company of her own bird again. And so, K'pandolu's borrowed a Chocobo Lure from the old man and set out to look for a bird. Hopefully this won't take too long…]

2/ Do you like your new life?
[It might be an unexpected change of pace for people who know her, but on the other hand, what better way to grow used to this place than working in a shop? And it's a way to stretch out her muscles for activities that aren't fighting.]

"Wow... things like this are a lot bigger in person," Chiaki muses out loud as she stares at the Chocobos running around behind the fence at the farm. There's a fair amount of hesitation in her posture, one hand draped protectively across her chest as she thoughtfully chews on her thumbnail. "I bet there's a lot of fun mini-games I can play with them, but..."

11
It was only a matter of time before the Ultimate Gamer discovered Triple Triad. Video games will always be Chiaki's favorite amusement, but without the appropriate technology, she's more than happy to pick up a collectible card game as her distraction of choice here in Aqures Ixen. True to her name, Chiaki managed to adapt to the rules of the game almost effortlessly, and has rapidly risen through the ranks in a very short amount of time. Now she's got a deck full of rare cards, a respectable ranking, and... no one to play with. Whoops.

Sometimes it's lonely at the top.

[1: sudden unexpected not-ending-world?]
[It's not the darkness that's unexpected -- it's the fact that it ends. After everything that had happened, after their battle with Caius, after the chaos--

...Noel wasn't sure what more there could possibly be.

The world around him is whole, but it's not his. There are glimpses of Pulse, of Academia, in the technology and the architecture...but that's all they are. Tiny hints that toy with his memories. But what else can he do? Strange crystal in hand, he begins to walk, to wander, to explore, occasionally glancing over his shoulder for a while before--]

Look. [His eyes are on a rather excited-looking moogle, who's been trailing behind him for a while.] You don't have to keep following me around, alright? I-- ...I'm not exactly a hero.

[8: lookin' for monsters]
["I'm scared, kupo!" The exclamation is met with a grin as Noel and Moro traipse through the wilds outside of the city. He feels anxious, in a place like this, able to go from place to place and yet unable to do anything with any impact. Exploring helps him keep his worries at bay, helps to keep him from brooding too much.

Besides, these new powers as a --what'd they call it?-- "red mage" need some testing.]

I told you that you should've stayed at home.

[She whines a little, fluttering beside him as if there's something about to pop out from behind a corner. "I couldn't let you come out here on your own, kupo!"

As odd as moogles are, he can't help but appreciate the company, and shoots her a grateful look.]

[3.]

All told, Celes was taking her changed surroundings well. Crystallis wasn't much different from her own world, save for a few idiosyncrasies, and while not knowing the whereabouts of the others wasn't ideal, there was something liberating about being in a new place.

That was, until she opened the door to her new home. Was it supposed to look so... lived in? Her bag slung over her shoulder, Celes brought it to her front, tentatively walking inside and looking around before closing the door. Honey, she's home!

[7.]

Bringing a hand up to hold her long blond hair at bay, Celes looked out at the world below her. It wasn't the Blackjack--although she would never let Setzer know how smooth a ride he had--but something about the wind in her hair and the open sky around them felt good. "It's nice," She said to no one in particular, voice likely lost to the wind.

[Compared to the relative luxury Saori had grown accustomed to living in Luceti, the housing provided here was something of a shock. She stared at the exterior of the tiny, somewhat ramshackle house for a long moment before shouldering her bow and stepping into the yard. She'd heard there was the possibility of a roommate, and that wouldn't be so bad but honestly she hoped she'd be living alone till she managed to adjust.

Knocking once before turning the key in the lock, Saori called into the open doorway.]

Hello? Is anyone there?

8/9:

[Out in the wilds, a lot of things became more focused for Saori. With her powers stolen away by the world in a way the last had only done rarely, she had to rely on other skills. Hunting, tracking, survival, and all those things she'd learned from her father so very, very long ago were easy things to fall back on but that didn't mean she had to like it. Being grounded, bound to the earth instead being able to take to the sky was frustrating at best. She'd vented her anger in any number of ways at first, but that'd done no good. So, instead she'd just done what she did best: set aside her problems to find distractions.

So here she is, trying to make the best of it and wandering into what appears to be an abandoned ruin. Training is key to everything, after all, and this new "Job" is no exception. And...fighting is a great distraction, as is hunting, so perhaps you'll spot her sizing up a wandering Malboro from the shadows, or maybe you come across her standing over a fallen Yeti cleaning her sword. Or maybe she's just taking a breather in the shadow of a pillar. However you'd like!]
