[Ramza has been educated in the tradition of the mistletoe decoration, so when he spots Queen Ashelia standing beneath it, he feels honor-bound to warn her. Mistletoe is not a tradition of Ivalice; he did not want her to find herself fending off unwanted advances just because of some cultural differences.]

My Lady, you may wish to move elsewhere. [He bows as he issues the warning.]

Ser Ramza. [Ashelia nods graciously in greeting.] Why? Is there something amiss? [She tenses.] An ambush?

[Not a ser, but not getting into that here. He raises his hands in a calming gesture.]

[He points up to the little sprig hanging above her.]

[Ashelia raises an eyebrow, looking up at the mistletoe.] An amorous attack? Elaborate, if you'd be so kind. [Yeah, that's not a question.]

The custom here, I have learned, is that if two people stand under the Mistletoe plant together, they need kiss.

[He takes a step back, to make sure he is out of range of the dreaded decoration. He doesn't want the Queen to think his intentions ignoble.]

[At least he's taken the time to obtain two small flutes of a pale, fizzy beverage before approaching Ashelia. He's seen the mistletoe already but it's not polite to be so forward right away.

He holds out one of the drinks for her to take.]

[Ashelia accepts the drink graciously, nodding in thanks.] Well enough. There is much and more to be done, but progress is finally being made. 'Tis reason enough to celebrate, in my opinion.

Progress of any sort can only be a good start for the new year.

The new year, the plans she'd had, the instability of the realm...the war had been stopped, but what would happen if the recently returned form the dead Queen of Dalmasca disappeared again? Without her there to stem the tide of conflict, would Larsa and Al-Cid be able to hold t back? There were many in both Archadia and Rozarria who still craved war, if only to line thier pockets with gil.]

There is some truth to that. However, progress here in Crystallis by nature stalls Ivalice's own forward momentum.

[He isn't quite taken aback by her frown, but forces his expression into a softer-neutral and can't help but narrow his eyes a little. Clearly something bothers her about that notion.

Ah- only natural that thoughts turn to home at this time of year. Sephiroth isn't even sure what to think of his own home right now, where he had left it there was still a lot left unresolved. The future was very uncertain, moreso than he had ever thought it would be.]

Are you enjoying the holidays?

[Ashelia is holding a glass of wine, lost in her thoughts when Zelda appraoches.] I suppose. I am not generally one to observe holidays. They are important symbols, and provide much needed rest and reprieve from the woes of the world to the layperson, but there is always work to be done.

You, however, do seem to be enjoying yourself.

[She is obviously excited and she doesn't really notice the mistletoe hanging between them.]

It has a certain charm to it I suppose. [Ashelia doesn't seem very impressed. She does notice the mistletoe, and looks at it for a moment, but she doesn't know what it's for.] There is no such celebration in your homeland?
