— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis! You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. 2/ Do you like your new life? No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible. 3/ Ukulele de Chocobo Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo-Bait© so you can go and capture your own. 4/ A thing called Mognet Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here. 5/ I believe I can fly~ You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness. 6/ Exploration Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course. 7/ Random Encounter You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck! 8/ Getting Jobs is hard It all started when you asked Jessie to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone. 9/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering… This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards. 10/ Wild Card Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world! |

[He sits up from the waist and looks himself over.]
You've given me a lot of help already! Thank you, miss. Wow, I should really learn some healing magic too.
[This world seems to be a lot more forgiving on that point than his video games were.]
no subject
I would be happy to accompany you for awhile. [She looks down at her sword a moment.] I'm not the best at fighting.
no subject
[If you're feeling like it's hard to get a word in, you'd be absolutely correct.]
no subject
Where I'm from we fly to get from place to place. [She pauses and giggles a moment before continuing.] On loftwings.
You're to kind to him already, Zelda :3
Flying? You fly without planes? That's so great! I'd love to try that. Bikes can go really fast, but you're still on the ground. How fast can you go flying?
<3
We have races.[Her smile widens.] Also... [Zelda looks around a moment before back at her companion.] I don't live on the ground. It's why we fly.
no subject
You don't live on the ground? Ahh, I'd really love to visit someplace like that and have a flying race! The wind must be amazing... What kind of obstacles are on the course? How did you do when you raced?
no subject
Mostly rocks that float in the sky. I usually do okay in the races. [Though Zelda sometimes cheats when she races.] What is your home like?
no subject
At her question he shakes his head, his grin getting wider.]
Not near as interesting as where you're from, I'm sure. But I suppose anything different is interesting to a point. Mm. What's it like? I was born and raised at the base of a mountain. And for a long time now, I've been driven to climb those hills! [He points off towards the mountains beyond the field.] On my bike, with my own strength, as fast as I can and then some. When I get a bike, you should for sure come see what it looks like! Perhaps it's just as fast as flying! [Says the kid who races with the wind as his ally and goes so fast he looks to have wings.] You should try it sometime! I heard they have bikes in Hera.
no subject
It sounds wonderful. I would love to ride a bike.
Maybe we can sometime?
[Zelda is edger but not overly pushy. She doesn't want to be a pain to the boy but she finds him charming in his own way and wished to learn more about him.]
Will be travelling - slower pace but I'll tag when I can!
[With a blink he cuts off his sentence, turning his head into the wind blowing across the plain.]
Say, are okay with fighting for a bit? I think a little something is headed our way.
{He looks excited at the prospect. He's all healed and ready to go, thanks to her!]
That's fine :D No worries and no rush. Im enjoying this
Guess so. Though I'm better at healing, so I'll let you lead.
[She gives him a confident smile.]
Great! Me too :3
For a turtle-thing it's pretty fast, so he doesn't have long to wait before it's in range. And while not like an archer's, his range is pretty broad.
With a quick, wordless cry to himself, Manami dashes forward about 50 meters, then leaps high into the air. He grins in exultation, feeling almost weightless as he reaches the apex of the jump and aims to land on the monster. He's getting better at aiming, but still... This time, he descends and plants his lance into the ground not even half a meter from the monster.
With a light 'tisk' he pulls his lance out of the earth and turns to face his target.
...oh, yah.]
There's another one coming! [He calls out loudly to warn the lady of the other monster he saw while jumping.]
no subject
They seemed to be coming from all directions.]
How many do you see?
no subject
Four!
[And hefting the lance he drives it into the turtle he's facing. He grins as the impact shakes through his arm. Even though it feels numb, he strikes again, quick as wind. The turtle-thing crumples.]
Three.
no subject
Look out!
[She isn't the best at fighting but she picks up her sword and goes running after it.]
no subject
Up in the air he can see the lady drawing the attention of all the turtle-things, now that he's off the field. A breath of wind comes to him, and he grins.
In the next instant he's falling, lance extended. The wind pushes him on, and he lands squarely upon the enemy that is to the lady's left.
Critical hit.
But there's no time to celebrate, as he's instantly engaged by the second-to-last turtle. Breathing hard, both of his arms numb after that strong hit, he holds up his lance carefully.]
no subject
She then grabs her sword and focuses on defense keeping her eyes on the boy as he jumps through the sky.]
Hotel internet was so fail >.> sorry!
The other turtle-thing took it to it's head to team up against him (thankfully leaving the lady alone for the moment), so now he is facing two tridents intent on skewering him.
This is intense... this is awesome.
Knowing that he likely wouldn't die because a healer was so close at hand, Manami fearlessly clashes with the two enemies, jabbing with his lance. They retaliate, one cracking the end of its trident on his leg, the other squirting him with some awful-smelling water.]
Uug-! Gross!
[Stumbling back, unable to jump for the moment because of his leg, he takes one more jab at one of the enemies and hits. It doubles over, clearly weakened but not dead yet.]
Is all cool!
Her sword stays on the ground and her hands are laced together as she casts.]
\o/
The last turtle-thing gets a few good jabs in, but he smiles through the pain, confident in the knowledge that the lady's healing spells are just a beat behind. If the enemies could heal too, it'd be a much tougher fight.
Finally Manami deals the finishing blow. Taking a deep breath he leans on his lance and looks at the sky with a wide smile.]
Still alive.
[He then turns that smile on the lady.] Thanks to you! It would have been a lot harder without you here. For sure I'd be nearly dead again! [Or just outright dead, more likely. A few times over. But he won't dwell on that.]
no subject
[Her smile grew now that the fray is over.]
I was worried for a second but you're quite skilled. Have you fought before?
no subject
No, not really. Unless you count video games.
[He looks down to inspect his armor, still damp from that turtle-thing's attack.]
Ug, it's gross what they throw at us though. Maybe there's something to be said for hanging back and being a healer!
no subject
I like to support people, if I can.
no subject
[Gingerly holding out the neckline of his tunic, trying to get it some air-]
Why do you bother with the sword, then? I don't know all the mechanics of this place yet, but usually you get better at something the more you specialize. I put all my hours into riding up mountains, then I'm the best climber. The trade-off being that I'm not the best sprinter or all-rounder. [Shrug. Not a big deal.] I like mountains the best anyway.
