1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune.

2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.

3/ Ukulele de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo-Bait© so you can go and capture your own.

4/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

5/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

6/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.

7/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

8/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Jessie to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

9/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

10/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

"Kupo!" Spencer, clapped his small paws to either side of his face as Sephiroth stepped back-

-and then spread arms in wide circles backwards to readjust his balance after backing into someone he hadn't seen was even there. But he still just about managed not to fall over the smaller boy. Sephiroth spun quickly, to the side some around where the black mage had been before he backed away. Silver hair flailed about in his wake, ghosting how he should have fallen but then settled back into it's rightful place at his back.

"Watch yourself, kid." He didn't quite snap back, but did have the authoritarian edge of an adult.

* ..placed hits, he was unafraid. Wow go me, not finishing that sentence.

Soren's moogle seemed more entertained by the near collision.

"Pay more attention. A warrior can't afford to miss what's behind him in the field." His tone was still cold, and he crossed his arms. Perhaps it was ridiculous of him to be foisting advice (?) or chastisement on someone else but he's been a grumpy tactician for too long not to have that impulse, it seems.

"A mage-" Which is what he had to be right? The robes certainly looked like it.

"-shouldn't be crossing directly behind them, either. Moreso without warning." Sephiroth's retort was sharp and, of course, completely correct in his opinion. The adrenaline quickly wore off and Sephiroth appraised Soren in more detail. Despite his novice-level of a Warrior in this dream, Sephiroth was a brutal judge of character and already the bad body language that the boy was giving off might well make waves in his judgment for a while.

"What are you doing skulking around up here anyway?" He just could help but retain that authoritarian edge, as used to it as he was in being a great leader on Gaia.

Despite his arms being crossed and being covered in thick robes, Soren at least had the virtue of standing up straight as he continued to stare right back with a derisive scoff. Despite the hostile body language, however, his expression had become more neutral as he appraised Sephiroth in return. Bright red eyes - frosty in spite of the burning color - moved in a quick, neat pattern before settling back on the warrior's eyes. His frown returned at the accusation of skulking.

"I was walking to the prow to get a better view of the land below and attempt a more accurate measure of our speed."

Though some of Sephiroth's mako-gleam had diminished from his eyes, since being brought into Crystallis, he still retained much of the intensity in pale-green coloring and slitted pupils. Those same eyes were fixed on every small detail they could find in the boy of a black mage and even more so of an excuse was given by the negative body language.

It would take Sephiroth a while to get used to meeting eyes with someone who -for once- had a more vibrant color than his own. He couldn't care less about the frown, it was a fair enough question.

"We're already a little too high for that. There is a lot of turbulence near to the edge." Sephiroth stated matter of factly, in fact that was why he had come away from the edge. He could have stood there gazing out at this brand new landscape for a few hours yet. "I wouldn't suggest it."

/o\ so late on getting back to you with this. I'm sorry!

[personal profile] tactlesstactician 2014-07-09 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"I am aware of that. I will be fine."

Slit pupils and bright eyes, while not something Soren generally saw every day, were not unfamiliar to him. The beast tribe laguz back home had often had slit pupils and bright eyes - like the cats they transformed into. Save for this warrior's lack of any other typical laguz features, Soren might have almost guessed some similar origin. But with people from so many worlds here, who could really say?

The mage himself was slight and small - appearing younger than he truly was (though time enough in this place would probably see him grow more proportionally to his age). The way he kept a hand near his spell tome was likely an indication that he was the sort of person to be ready to fight at any given moment. His clothing was tidy and all essentials were kept neatly packed about his person - and no more than essentials and a few just in case potions, really. Save for a clasp or two holding back his long dark hair (faintly greenish in the sunlight), he had no real ornamentation to speak of - at least, nothing that was not altogether practical.

[personal profile] shinrasfinest 2014-07-11 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as Soren kept that tidbit of similarity to himself then there wasn't any way it could further aggravate the situation. Sephiroth probably wouldn't take kindly at all to being compared with some cat-like warrior-tribe from some far off other World, if he even believed it. It would be just another detail for him to pick apart when he'd finally woken up from his getting-more bizarre dream.

Apparently satisfied with an intial sweep of Soren's physical appearance, Sephiroth stepped back even further towards the center of the deck, turning slightly as to gesture to Soren to go right ahead yet Sephiroth wasn't the type of man to follow it through with an arm motion.

"Go right ahead then." His moogle, Spencer would probably attempt to lecture him on his manners later but Sephiroth wasn't one to stop a stubborn individual doing something, even if it might end up with them hurting themselves. Especially since he had brushed off the advise. Indeed having it ignored, at all, only soured the forming opinion he had of Soren even further.
tactlesstactician: (not sure i even wanna know)

[personal profile] tactlesstactician 2014-07-12 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Luckily, Soren rather despised laguz as a rule - cat laguz in particular - and so was unlikely to draw the comparison without good reason. Either way, he blinked at Sephiroth - almost as if he suspected some kind of trick - before nodding once and stalking right past him.

He did glance back once as he neared the prow - more to ascertain if he's being followed than anything else. And then carefully made his way to the railing to peer over. His moogle clung to Soren's robes, and Soren was careful to keep a firm grip on the railing, but he seemed largely unbothered by the air blowing past as he carefully studied the land below.

Of course.... even the skies aren't always safe from monsters, and wouldn't it be convenient if a few flying zu chose this moment to dive bomb the airship? (If only to force these two to not spend the rest of their flight ignoring each other....)

Even when Soren looked back, Sephiroth appeared to have moved on, he wasn't watching the smaller boy as intently as he had been previously; his gaze somewhat up and away from where Soren was looking. At some strange formation in the clouds, it seemed.

He was just about ready to step away when he heard some bird-like call echo somewhere above them. At first he wasn't sure if it might be a trick caused by the altitude they were travelling at, or something completely unrelated but the second time the cry from the zu closing in came Sephiroth had no illusion that it was friendly.

"Heads up-" He called to Soren, who was still looking over the edge, as he unsheathed his sword and closed the two strides over towards the prow.
