1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune.

2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.

3/ Ukulele de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo-Bait© so you can go and capture your own.

4/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

5/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

6/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.

7/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

8/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Jessie to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

9/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

10/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

Marlboro were smelly, destructive creatures that Genesis usually would have burned to a crisp and then tossed a couple Summons on them as well. Unfortunately, he lacked materia, let alone weapons in this strange place, and found it far more frustrating than anything in his entire life. However, he did find that while lugging around tomes from place to place made his shoulder ache, they also were good for some light bashing.

Well, maybe not so light considering that he just hit the Marlboro hard enough to make it let go of the White Mage.

"You are going to damage that, kupo!" The little moogle bobbing behind him scolded even as Genesis jumped around the reeling Marlboro to give the White Mage a hand up.

"I highly doubt that anyone would care," he replied, looking at the book before shoving it back into his bag. "We need to run, miss."

Books are sacred things, but were not worth a life. Genesis was grateful for it and pulled herself up with the other man's help. His voice sounded somewhat familiar, though she couldn't place why. "Yes, I know. Let's go, before it re-orients itself."

She didn't waste time and began running again, already feeling winded and her joints stung, but she pulled the man along anyway. This was just not her day.
nodreamsorhonor: (we all fall)

Out-running a Marlboro wasn't too hard; they were slow and overly large, but they didn't need to be fast. With their breath weapons and their sheer stubbornness, they could easily fell a herd of animals and chew slowly their full. Their only chance was to get as far away from it as possible so it would get bored and go searching for some other kind of prey.

Books were important although Genesis had to wonder about the Accountant Book Of Counting Jokes and it's role in their current quest. He was quite sure that whoever told them to find it and read it had about the same sick sense of humor as those people that felt they had to collect the jokes and put them together in a book in the first place. At least there was only one volume. He would have set something on fire if he had to look for the next clue in more books by the same group.

He caught up to her quickly, still a little fresher than her but a near match in height and weight, with the same kind of long-limb build that would have probably been remarked on if they weren't fleeing a stinking monster.

Yes, well, Genesis was stuck with only curative magic. She was useful in a party but by herself, nothing more. How they had expected her to be a hero and yet by herself was beyond her. Regardless, they eventually gained enough distance that the Marlboro eventually left them alone and Genesis slowed to a job and then stopped, completely winded and breathing hard.

She rested her hands on her knees, panting and really needing to sit down, which she promptly did with a grunt. "I haven't felt like this since I first became a trooper, goodness."

She looked up at her rescuer and practically hiccuped on her next breath. What the-?!
nodreamsorhonor: (eh what)

[personal profile] nodreamsorhonor 2014-07-01 01:40 am (UTC)(link)
At least she had magic. Genesis just had books. A lot of books. Even books about how to look up stuff in books. He was sure that his moogle thought it was the best job ever, but he was also sure that his moogle also drank pure sugar water in the morning. There was a reason why he referred to her as Zack most days.

"A trooper? Surely you jest." he replied, even as he took deep breathes to ease the tightness in his lungs from running. It's been years since he felt exhaustion, and he was not about to admit that in front of a perfect stranger...

A perfect stranger that - with the few slight differences in face and hair - could be his twin. His eyes narrowed and his lips pulled back from his teeth even as he reached into his bag to pull that huge book out.

"Who are you?"
rhapsoidein: (Are running through your head)

He goes for his books, she goes for her staff. They were both equally as useless to the other but hey, blunt hard objects work wonders on normal humans. Genesis' own eyes narrowed as she brandished her staff, getting up on exhausted legs to make sure she could defend herself from a bag of books.

"I should be asking you the same," She finally answered, eyes narrowing. "Last I checked, I was not born a twin. Nor did I ever have a sibling."
nodreamsorhonor: (let's battle)

[personal profile] nodreamsorhonor 2014-07-02 07:02 pm (UTC)(link)
He had never been one to ignore a possible weapon, even if it was something as inconspicuous as a simple book. It may be useless when it came to some things, but blunt instruments can be useful against other humans, though he suspected that this was no ordinary person. Did his fever decided to tease him with visions of clones? Or was this another new torment that Fate decided to throw at him?

"There is the possibility of a clone," he replied, studying her for a hint of the flaws all his clones carried. Hollander may not be present, but Genesis knew that the scientist had not given up the idea of more fodder. All he wished for was a cure but - as he come to know - Hollander wanted to destroy Hojo and his perfect monster.

[personal profile] rhapsoidein 2014-07-02 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"I would have been aware of myself making a clone, thank you very much," She responded and then paused slightly, narrowing her eyes again. Wait, how did this guy know about the clones? She actually never made more than a couple herself, after she found how it accelerated her degradation. Lazard helped convince her to not to that and she hadn't made one since.

"...were you or are you degrading?"
nodreamsorhonor: (gah headache)

[personal profile] nodreamsorhonor 2014-07-03 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hollander has his tricks," he replied, continuing to stare at her. He had been at that stage where the only thing that mattered was finding enough of the S-cells to stabilize his system; it didn't matter what happened to a few random cells here and there while he was in that state of mind.

No, not a clone the more he thought about it. A clone did not have the capabilities to do anything more than a few simple tasks, let alone talk and understood what it was saying at the same time. So what was she then? A trick of his senses? A creature that mimics a person to lure them into a trap? Or another puzzle of this world he has just stumbled across?

Genesis raised his head, teeth clenching a little at the audacity of her question, pride warring with the need to know who she was. "I do not think that is any of your concern."
rhapsoidein: (And if it happens again)

[personal profile] rhapsoidein 2014-07-07 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
"I am no trick!"

Get ready to duck because her staff is swinging, though really it's just to smack his shoulder with it. She was real, she was not a trick! She knew that much about herself. But she blinked at the next words and settled.

"So you were. Have you found the cure yet?"
nodreamsorhonor: (stars)

[personal profile] nodreamsorhonor 2014-07-11 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
He does try to duck but this body was so ordinary, so normal that he couldn't call up his normal speed or strength. The smack to his shoulder received a snarl and he reached up to push the staff away, his eyes narrowed at the thought of anyone touching him. It didn't matter that she was close to being his twin, no one was allowed to touch him unless he had given them that permission.

"What cure? The hope that the S-cells might hold a key? The whispers of the Goddess buried deep within the Planet? Don't be mad."
