Early on, as a boy I picked up swordplay and gravitated towards the use of katana's over the more mainstream use of broader-type swords. I never much liked the balance of them. Thinner blades are much more elegant and shorter, quicker maneuvers can be utilized. As I got older, increasing the length presented an increasing challenge, rather than to accept an easy peak of ability.
Masamune is the longest sword I could wield, without sacrificing the integrity of the steel itself.
