1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.

2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.

3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.

4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.

5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.

7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.

9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Jessie to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility, or maybe you'd like to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Or how about participating in Christmas at Crystallis or fighting in a war for the warriors among you?

13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

Lt. Columbo | Columbo

5/Mognet

The flying ball of stuff and fluff had done well to give him the facts, even if the drab looking gentleman didn't seem much for getting a grasp on things. Relying more on things at sight than by conversation, the Lieutenant had asked for his new companion to direct him to the hub of mail and memos. Arriving, the Detective reels his head back, putting a hand to his forehead as he watches in awe of the rushing employees flying to and from to ensure that the personal packages and parcels are delivered on time.

"Well, gee, Mister Moogle, isn't that something? You have this whole mail thing down pat. Back home, you know, they're pretty efficient, but I'm sure you folks here could teach 'em a thing or two. Incredible. Just incredible. So, uhh-.. if I could ask you just one thing, ehh-.. these Moogles, like yourself, do they.. come from somewhere specific? I don't want to assume, you know, just being a normal fellow and all. My wife, she tells me I'm magical at times, but you? You've got me beat, for sure."

10/Jobs

"Uhh- excuse me, Miss? Am I to understand that with this here crystal thing I'm a- what did you call it? A mage? I don't hafta' fill out any forms, any protocol, any sort of paper work in order to be an official mage of sorts? You see, back where I'm from, there's this whole process of training and going through schooling in order to become a cop, so I uhh- I was just wondering how that whole business works, you know. Call me curious. I hafta' say, if it hadn't been for my wife, I don't know what I would'ah done while I was in the academy. Guess my work'll be cut out for me here."

The former detective feels a slit bit of sadness as he clutches the crystal inbetween his fingers like a cigar. Something about holding it in such a manner made him feel more at ease, even if it did look rather peculiar to those passing by.

"Say.. While I'm here, you mind if I.. you know, inquire about something 'ere? I got to thinking, since I'm standing here, and you're doing a fantastic job with helping out and explainin' and all of that, but.. You don't suppose you might have a rock back there that'll let me be a detective, do you? I figure, I'm best at what I do, and what I do is detective work, you understand, don't you? A guy like me trying to do parlor tricks would just be a mess, and I'd hate for an error on my end be a problem for you fine folks here at the uhh-.. well, your office, I'll say."

There comes a point in his life when he really had to question why people always mistake him for a woman at first glance. Kenshin knew he wasn't the brawniest or masculine of men, but still, he wasn't that pretty. Then again, given that the Ninja Job's default uniform covered everything but his eyes and his long ponytail, he shouldn't get too mad at people and their assumptions.

Pulling off his mask - reminding himself later that he needed to talk Koneko into returning his clothing as well as his sword - Kenshin faced the older man and smiled. His questions seem reasonable enough, although Kenshin wondered if he had listened to his moogle or wanted a confirmation. Or maybe it was a test? He didn't know, but he was still going to be polite.

"One was told that one will know how to do their Job, that they will," he said, giving a slight bow as he talked. "The crystals are able to guide one, that they are."

Koneko settled on his shoulder, her wings brushing the side of Kenshin's face as she giggled and pointed towards the sun. "You don't need a Crystal, kupo. We have police stations that would love experienced officers!"

"No foolin'? Well-!" The detective puts a hand to his forehead, letting out a long sigh of relief as he smiles at the information given to him. He's enough of a keen eye to know a young man when he sees one, considering the tone of voice and the way he speaks.

"Not sure I catch the info 'bout the crystals but uhh-.. I sure did catch the bit about the Police Station. Hopefully they don't mind a bit of dust with their experience, if ya' get me." He rifles around his clothing, unable to find the usual bit of identification he'd provide to a new face. "I'm uhh.. Hmm.. Well, I don't have a badge on me but- Name's Columbo. Lieutenant Columbo. Formerly of Los Angeles. I wouldn't happen to be speaking to two members of the local jurisdiction here now, would I?"

Dust seems to be a part of the Lieutenant's clothing. Kenshin chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck while Columbo rifled through his pockets and sending little bits of dust falling off of the gray overcoat he wore. He looked rumbled and scatterbrained and Kenshin had the feeling that some of it was a bit of an act. One did not get high in the chain of command by being a fool unless one was able to buy their way there. He may not know much about the city Los Angeles, but it was probably not as corrupt as some providences back home.

"No, one is not a member of this place. This one is a wanderer, that one is."

"Well then, Mister Wanderer, I don't suppose on top o' pointing me in the direction of the Police Station, you and your err- friend 'ere might join me for a bit to eat? I sure could use a bowl of chili, but I doubt I'll have luck finding a bowl on my own. Whadda' ya' say? If we can't find chili, hopefully we can sink our teeth into something both we make like moths and start eating our clothes."

He laughs for a moment, waving a hand through the air to dismiss the puff of dust which rises off of the worn, experienced coat he wears.

"Excuse the dirt, I'm sorry, Sir. This coat has seen a lot more than rainy days and late nights, I'm afraid. But.. Well, you know how it is, I imagine."

Chili? Kenshin frowned a little at the odd word, trying to place it in his memories of the foreigners that he had met. None of them had mentioned it, although some of their ideas for food was strange enough to make him hesitant to try anything he couldn't identify. He had to remind himself that this was a strange land and there was probably a lot of strange foods that he would have to get use to.

"That is not necessary, that it is not," he said, shrugging at the apologies over the dust on that worn coat. "This one is use to the dust of travel, that I am. This one is called Kenshin, and one's companion is Koneko, and we will be honored to share food with you, that we will."

He was a kindly person, and he seemed good-natured even if he was a little dusty. Kenshin smiled and bowed formerly, his moogle squeaking at the movement. "It is nice to meet you, Sir Columbo."

[personal profile] onemorequestion 2015-02-09 06:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, the pleasure is all mine Mister.. uh- Kenshin. I do hope I said that right. Well, let's stop by for a meal first. I'd hate to ask the Police Station a lot of questions on an empty stomach. I just can't focus without a good meal in me, you know what I mean?"

An arm pushes the door of the office open, leading the pair out into the open world as the Lieutenant motions for the two to proceed onward. When they're out the door, he lets himself out and proceeds alongside them, walking along the street as eyes curiously look every which way.

"This is really something. I don't think I've ever seen buildings like this, not even on the strip downtown. I hate to be the one to make assumptions, but from your clothes, I'm guessing you're just as far from home as I am? That's my problem, see? My wife is always telling me, "you're too curious." I start puttin' my nose into other people's problems and what not, and then here we are. Walking alongside a swordsman and a.. whadda' ya' call 'em? A Moogle?"
hiddenedges: (hey)

[personal profile] hiddenedges 2015-02-10 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
He nodded in response as he was ushered out the door. Food was a pretty important thing to have, especially when one was going to work, but he wasn't sure about what this 'chili' entailed, but he would try it. It would be rude not to, especially if Columbo insisted on it.

"The one comes from what is now Tokyo," he said, and then just listened to the older man talk. It was kind of strange at just how much he talked, almost a rambling matter that jumped from one subject to another and yet was all tied together. If they were speaking in different languages - and here he wondered for a moment about the nature of this strange place that he could understand Columbo without learning the language - he would have nodded and smiled and be totally confused. Even now he felt a little over whelmed by the questions.

"One thinks that in this place a little curiosity is normal. We were not here before and now we are, so it is fine to ask questions in order to learn, that it is."
