It had been 3 days since Baralai had arrived and so far he had spent most of his time at the library or the temple. His learning was limited to books but that was fine with him. He had heard rumors of the moogle strike but thought it was a precursor to something bigger and made note of it. It was a sign to him but nothing that really was a matter of huge concern.
He had just opened up a book to start his daily study while his moogle Lora hovered close by. She hummed a little tune and Baralai seemed okay with it -- at first.
"What'cha doin', kupo?" Lora sang her words.
Baralai sighed and turned the page. He didn't think that responding to her was a priority when the obvious was staring right at her. Lora didn't take the hint that he wanted to study in silence and Baralai's brow knitted in frustration. His lips curled back in a subtle sneer. "Do you mind?"
"Not at all! I wanna read too, kupo!" Lora chirped happily while she flitted from his left shoulder to his right.
Baralai sighed and dropped his shoulders and shook his head. "Then read something else."
"But the books are too heavy, kupo." The moogle whined and sobbed dramatically.
Baralai thought to move to another location but avoiding the moogle was impossible when he had to keep the window open for fresh air. "Could you be quiet, please?"
"I would if you get me the book, kupo." She huffed with her cheeks puffed out.
Baralai relented and handed her a book to read and opened it for her. Lora giggled with glee and the realized the type of book Baralai had picked. She sighed softly once, then twice just a bit louder with the third one even louder than the preceeding two.
He huffed and slammed his hand down. "What now?"
"It's boooring!" Lora whined once again.
This time, Baralai was about at the point of nearly shouting but instead he slammed his book closed and tucked it away with a roll of his eyes. "I didn't need to study."
"So, does this mean that you'll go out?" Lora seemed to brighten up just then.
"No." Baralai was at his wit's end. "Leave me be."
