— Reply with a character you wish to test in the game's setting.
— Feel free to use one of the prompt below or make one of your own!
— Tag around! This is a panfandom RP, so don't hesitate to tag both castmates and non-castmates.
— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.
2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.
3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.
4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.
5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.
6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.
7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.
8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.
9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!
10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Jessie to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.
11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.
12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility, or maybe you'd like to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Or how about participating in Christmas at Crystallis or fighting in a war for the warriors among you?
13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

Fon Master Ion | Tales of the Abyss (Very tentative voicetest. orz)
[Okay, sure, Ion could have gotten a chocobo from the farm. A nice, docile bird that would be easy for someone with no riding experience. But catching his own sort of sounds like fun. And how hard can it be, really?
Except that when he set off the chocobo lure, he wasn't expecting the bird to show up with company. Two Buer are flanking it on either side. Not terribly strong monsters, but Ion is a white mage. And low level. And has no access to fonic artes. This is not likely to end well.
He's more worried about his moogle though, a nervous little thing clinging to the back of his robe. Ion gives him a gentle smile, trying to sound more confident than he feels.]
Find someplace to hide, okay? Don't worry, I'll be fine.
[The moogle takes him at his word and nods before flitting off behind a nearby rock. Honestly though, he could probably use a hand. He's... not exactly used to fighting. Help him out?]
B-{Aaannd some 3~}
[Most people probably don't knock on their own doors, but considering that he was only just assigned this housing, Ion feels it's appropriate to introduce himself to his new roommates politely. When the door opens, he smiles brightly.]
Good evening! My name is Ion. I've been assigned to live here.
[He sounds almost apologetic, since suddenly having a stranger move into your house would be weird for anyone.]
Do you mind if I come in?
Re: Fon Master Ion | Tales of the Abyss (Very tentative voicetest. orz)
What are you doing here alone? That's stupid.
[because that is totally helping]
Fon Master Ion | Tales of the Abyss (Very tentative voicetest. orz)
Um, I was looking for a chocobo...
[He might have said more, but the buer have decided to attack. They both screech and dive toward him.]
Re: Fon Master Ion | Tales of the Abyss (Very tentative voicetest. orz)
Okay, stay behind me and if I look like I'm getting hurt, heal me.
Fon Master Ion | Tales of the Abyss (Very tentative voicetest. orz)
[Ion nods, backing up and never taking his eyes off their enemies. He readies his staff in case healing is needed. Standing back in a fight is certainly something he's used to. At least now, he can do something to help.
Now that she's in the way, the screeching monsters attack her instead, flanking he on either side.]
Re: Fon Master Ion | Tales of the Abyss (Very tentative voicetest. orz)
You think you're so smart? Now which one is the real me, hah!
Fon Master Ion | Tales of the Abyss (Very tentative voicetest. orz)
[Ion is impressed anyway. The bat like creature is just confused. After hesitating for a few seconds, it attacks one of her at random.]
Re: Fon Master Ion | Tales of the Abyss (Very tentative voicetest. orz)
[Nanami is keeping both her and her clone moving, slashing at the bat-creature]
But keep that healing up! It's going to eventually figure out which one of me is taking damage.
Fon Master Ion | Tales of the Abyss (Very tentative voicetest. orz)
[He casts a cure spell as the monster shrieks in pain from Nanami's strikes. She'd best finish this one off quickly though. The other one has gotten over it's initial hesitation and rejoins the fight. Now each is attacking one of the Nanamis.]
Re: Fon Master Ion | Tales of the Abyss (Very tentative voicetest. orz)
Yes, it is.
[oh, right, manners]
Thanks.

And this is how Luke got his first gray hair. The redhead's suppressing the urge to release a somewhat exasperated groan as he quickly rushes over to stand in front of Ion, making use of that Thief Class speed. Damn it, he'd suggested he wait until later to do this... But of course the Fon Master had to go and focus more on the fun aspect of this whole thing, didn't he. Sigh.
Of course, he isn't genuinely annoyed at Ion, himself; he never really is.
This is just how it goes when he worries a lot about someone he cares about, but doesn't want to outright be all, seriously, stop making me worry so much, you gentle-hearted idiot. You already died once, so it would be kind of nice to not... you know... lose you again. Thanks.] Fine, huh?
[His own moogle -- named... Ion, to make matters not confusing at all -- is moving over to accompany Ion's. The redhead is moving to stand next to his friend as he draws his weapon and focuses on casting his first spell -- Dualcast!
Next, he'll be going for Borrowed Time on each one, but... Will he be able to make it before the monsters launch their first attack? Let's find out.]

Being able to just go out and do something for himself, without dragging other people along to protect him, without worrying about whatever other responsibilities he has, is a rare opportunity for Ion. And he maaay have let his new-found freedom go to his head. And honestly, everyone he talked to assured him that chocobo catching is easy.
But given the circumstances, he's both relieved and entirely apologetic when Luke comes to his rescue.]
Sorry...
[He doesn't get much further than that, because while the first Buer freezes improbably in place, the second manages to fire off it's confuse ray at Luke.]
Look out!
[His warning comes a little too late, but it's probably the thought that counts.]
that's terrible xD
...Luke won't blame Ion in the slightest. In fact, he might nudge the other replica to do more things on his own. Or at the very least...
He'd try to suggest having the mindset that Luke isn't trying to go with him as protection, more than he is as a friend. In any case, though, now isn't the time for any of that. In fact, he's just going to give Ion a soft, exasperated sigh - there's the hint of a smile in there, but that's not important...]
....................
[It's...
...Yeah, it's...it's the thought that counts.
And -- for some strange reason -- he has this sudden really cool idea to just... turn and attack Ion. So, without warning, he's turning around and lunging at his green-haired friend. His attack will not be super strong if it manages to hit, since there's that tiny part -- in the far reaches of the back of his mind -- trying really hard to fight it...]
Isn't it? ^^; Also I love your icon.
Luke? Wha-? Ahh!
[The blow is glancing and his cry is more out of surprise than pain. But the Buer chooses that moment to press it's advantage and Ion is forced to roll away from it's strike. Once away, he raises a hand and very hurriedly casts.]
Es- esuna!
[That should take care of the confusion, at least.]

[Not long after Ion finds himself cornered by the Buer, a third bird dashes into the picture, carrying Ion's knight in shining armor. Okay, maybe less of a knight in shining armor and maybe more of a small black-haired girl riding awkwardly on a Chocobo.]
[Either way, the Buer are low level, and Anise makes pretty quick work of both of them. Once they're down, Anise jumps off the Chocobo and runs towards Ion.]
Ion! Are you okay?
[Her voice is mostly worry, but there's a tinge of frustration.]

[Even though he'd told her that she didn't need to watch over him anymore, she's still doing it.
Well, he can't say he isn't just a little bit happy about that. Also he wasn't eaten by bat creatures. Always a plus.]
I'm fine. Thank you.
[Ion is trying a an apologetic smile. He's well aware that he probably should have told her where he was going. Or at least brought someone with him.]
