1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.

2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.

3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.

4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.

5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.

7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.

9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Jessie to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility, or maybe you'd like to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Or how about participating in Christmas at Crystallis or fighting in a war for the warriors among you?

13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

"Is there truth that they should be worried about that?" Vincent asked, deftly side-stepping a Goblin's attack. A pivot, and a not-quite point blank shot, and the creature skittered backwards, clutching it's chest and shoulder.

With the secondary 'shot' from his companion, it seemed now the goblins were getting the idea that he was NOT easy prey. Chattering amongst themselves, but eyeing their opponents warily. Vincent wasn't taking his eyes off of them either.

"Well, the fact that we're both firin' at them should be enough cause for worry." Barkeep picked his staff up again and eyes the group of goblins. "More like your shots and my imitatin' them, but that's just technicalities."

The goblins had decided since attacking those two one by one would only get them all killed, charging at them together at once would be a better option. They still looked afraid, but they also had plenty of sharp daggers to give them courage.

"Welp. Looks like they're back for more," he sighed heavily. "Ready when you are."

Vincent had met, and was still slightly more focused on the other's comments about this 'force galactic'. It sounded like trouble to him, and he wasn't sure yet about his erstwhile ally at the moment. Any questions though would have to wait, as they were indeed regrouping and the pack would have to be taken care of first.

Calmly, Vincent raised his gun and took careful aim. Waiting, eyes focused as he tracked just behind the first goblin in the center of the pack, gauging. Closer, and then Crack!

The gunshot rang out, with a faint-echoing after crack of Thunder. Striking the close-pair of goblins in the center of the pack. The smell of Ozone and burnt flesh wafted in the air.

Barkeep held his nose at that disgusting smell. He was bartender, not an adventures, and he was going to get sick of this life is he didn't fine a way back soon.

He took a deep breath and picked up his staff again, imitating Vincent's attack. One more goblin fell, and the ones surrounding it were heavily injured.

"Now this," he said as he held his nose again, "this is the sort of trouble I don't like. Where I'm from, we leave it up to the law enforcement to go after rogue robots an' outlaws, not some visitors who never even wanted to come."

If Vincent was trying to ignore the conversation, Barkeep was doing a good job of not noticing it.

"What about you? You do this sort of thing regularly back home?"

Taking his time in answering certainly, as he was more focused on the pack of goblins. Leveling, firing, one more shot---a warning as it'd come very close to the injured pack. Ultimately Vincent had no problem with killing them if needed, but better to drive them off for now. Less troublesome.

"Something like that." He responded to the question, not entirely helpful but at the same time accurate.

The goblins were growing more fearful as Vincent continued to shoot at them, but they continued onward. Barkeep was more interested in Vincent's personal life than the incoming monsters, however.

"Really? You a hunter or somethin'? I don't know many hunters on Mars, but I reckon it involves dealin' with all these nasty smells." He waved a hand in front of his face for emphasis. "I bet they get stabbed all the time. I was stabbed once, and that was more than enough for me."

One more crack accompanied by Thunder, and while it had been calculated to miss, it was enough. No easy-targets here, as the pack beat a full retreat. Nor was Vincent inclined to chase or finish them off at the moment.

"Only if they don't learn to dodge it." Mars huh? Must be where the other man was from. Vincent had been stabbed a few times. It was over-rated. But so much of what he'd been through, and getting stabbed was one of the more minor hazards...

There might have been a hint of wry amusement in his tone when he'd responded to the other's question.

Barkeep let out a small grunt as he sated the sorry pack of goblins run away. "Good riddance."

Now that the battle was over, he finally had time to sit down and relax. He didn't know why let himself get roped into going outside to fight monsters. Lots of nagging from his Moogle, he supposed. At least he was starting to figure out his new powers, though they were nowhere near the convenience of the Force Galactic.

"I guess they do learn the ins and outs of tussin' before they start workin', but I'm not the type to wanna go out and fight. Would cause my wife to worry her head off, you know?"
bloodypast: (What?)

[personal profile] bloodypast 2015-04-26 07:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Being certain they were gone, watching, and only once the pack was out of sight did Vincent reholster his weapon. "That would be a bother." Non-committal, but he could imagine it. He supposed.

Not everyone was meant to fight, nor was everyone suited to it. Curious that the other was brought here though, and apparently without his usual skills though. Still, it wasn't Vincent's place to wonder overly about it yet. Too much else to focus on.

"Yuuup," he agreed. He was thinking of heading back to the city after this fight, but he figured he might as well stay a while and chat with the stranger.

"I try my best to keep trouble out of our place. That'd be the saloon, of course, but from time to time that extends to the town proper." And what would it be without him? There's going to be a panic when their beloved mayor disappears. And what if they don't elect one just as good as him?

"I hope my wife is alright. She's gonna be upset when she finds out I'm not home, especially since she'll think I've used my cosmic space powers without her permission." He sighs. "There's gonna be a lot of explainin' to do once I go home."

Vincent turned, apparently ready to head back to the city. He'd already accomplished what he'd meant to, when the goblins had appeared. He didn't seem to mind the company, tuning out the chatter to the back of his mind and paying barest attention.

It was just like traveling with the rest of Avalanche, in some ways. Nothing new. He made a low-noise that verbalized enough 'agreement' and 'go on' to encourage the other if they wanted to keep chattering. Without him needing to hold up his end of the conversation.

Barkeep took a minute to sit back and take a break. Talking nonstop was a common occurrence for a gossip like him, but fighting took a lot of energy from him.

That energy came right back once he was rested. "Anyway, we might as well head back. No point in stayin' out here where it's dangerous." He used his staff to push himself back up and turned towards the walls of Aqures Ixen. "You comin' with me?"

Vincent had better not stay behind. Barkeep knew better than to wander off on his own without barely anything to defend himself.
bloodypast: (What?)

[personal profile] bloodypast 2015-04-28 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It seemed more like the other was 'coming with' Vincent, as he'd already turned and was headed that way. It didn't matter much though, not to the gunslinger. Truthfully, he was more annoyed by his lack of skill when he KNEW he was more skilled, and having to relearn it all.

A goblin pack would normally not be trouble for him.

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2015-04-29 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Alright." Barkeep took his non-answer as a form of confirmation and quickened his pace so that he was walking side-by-side with Vincent.

"So now that we've got a ways to go, how about you tell me a little bit more about yourself, Vincent. All I know is your name and that you're a good shot."

The silent man was interesting. There had to be something juicy in his past.

[personal profile] bloodypast 2015-04-29 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Wonderful, someone who wanted to pry. Even if Vincent had appreciated the unexpected aid, that hardly meant he was going to now become bosom buddies with the other. Even with those he did call friend, he'd never been one to chatter on and talk excessively.

Some people just seemed the need to fill the air with noise. Not content with listening to the nuances of silence in her various forms. Too busy speaking to hear the subtleties of the world around them.

"Nothing to tell." Certainly nothing he felt like sharing. Not without a good reason.
forcegalactic: (Default)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2015-04-30 02:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Prying was Barkeep's hobby. He's always listed it as one of his worst qualities, but never in an attempt to improve the habit.

"Now, Vincent," he said amiably. It almost sounded as if he was going to wrap an arm around the taller man's shoulder, but he knew better than that. "Everyone always has somethin' to tell. No shame in that."

He had to entertain himself on the walk back, after al. "Like me, for example. I think I already mentioned it, but I run the Space Saloon back home. Don't really get into much adventurin' on the job, but I do hear about them from my customers."
bloodypast: (What?)

[personal profile] bloodypast 2015-04-30 09:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Vincent was aware of what a saloon was...but what was the deal about it being in space? Best to keep the other talking, and focused on himself rather than Vincent. Not exactly fond of sharing, especially with strangers.

"How is a space saloon different than a normal one?"
forcegalactic: (Default)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2015-05-01 02:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not much. Still serve drinks and food there. Got an AI for the doors just like any other place of importance on Mars." He shrugged as he spoke. It wasn't anything interesting at all, at least compared to Vincent's mysterious demeanor.

"But enough about me. What'd got you all serious like that?"
bloodypast: (What?)

[personal profile] bloodypast 2015-05-01 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
The question was met with a shrug, even as Vincent continued to walk. "It's just how I am." Was the short reply, as he honestly didn't see what the big deal was.

Yet he was sure that wouldn't stop the other from prying. Inwardly he was planning and calculating. What, if anything, he'd tell the other, would depend on how much his companion asked and tried to get him to speak about.
