1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.

2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.

3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.

4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.

5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.

7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.

9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Jessie to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility, or maybe you'd like to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Or how about participating in Christmas at Crystallis or fighting in a war for the warriors among you?

13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

forcegalactic: (why is there trouble in this place?)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2015-04-27 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Alright, alright." He held out his hands and made a small patting motion. "No need to go hollerin' that you're hungry. Didn't your mother teach you any manners?"

He crouched and picked up Greg, who was light enough for Barkeep. "Come now, there's some places I saw a few blocks past. We can eat up and discuss the matter at the same time."

That last phrase was punctuated with a side glance at Greg's Moogle.

Greg wiggled his arms and legs and then proceeded to pretend that he was flying while Barkeep carried him.

"Don't forget George Washington!" At that his moogle flies over and picks up the frog which had begun to hope away. The moogle didn't have much to say to Barkeep. He didn't want such a troublesome hero to look after, he was only sent by the city.

He wasn't getting paid enough for this.

"Who?" Barkeep turned back just in time to see the Moogle pick up the frog, then shrugged and continued on his way. Sure, Greg was light, but carrying him some considerable distance was another thing. To add to that, Greg wouldn't stop wiggling around and rambling about some nonsense about hot dogs or whatnot.

See, this is why Mordecai and his wife don't have children.

A very tired Barkeep put Greg back on the ground when they were within sight of the restaurant. Even though he still had to make the kid walk without getting distracted, it was a shorter distance.

"Listen here, now. I don't know what sort of characters are in that place at the hour, so best be on your best behavior and don't start causin' no trouble in there, you hear?" He spoke in a stern voice he hoped could be taken as fatherly.

Greg saluted and then picked up the frog to make him salute as well. "Yes, sir!" He walked forward like a robot with one arm and one leg reaching forward. It was a slow sort of silly walk but he was taking it very seriously.

He paused and looked down. "I found a quarter." He glanced a the piece of gil curiously. "Wait a minute.. this isn't a quarter."

Gregory tossed it away and then walked into the tavern.

"I'm hungry."

He walked in with his frog setting his frog on a chair to an empty table. "You. Wait. Here. I'm go get food."

Barkeep followed, keeping watch over the boy, then eyeing the strange coin he found. He stopped, considered whether he should just leave it for someone else, then picked it up and put it in his robe. Until he found a legitimate job, he was going to need anything he found.

He opened the door for Greg to enter. The tavern was only half-full, as the two of them already missed the lunch hour, but the noise level showed that this place was pretty popular no matter the time of day. A good place to work, Barkeep thought, if they were actually looking for employees.

"Now, now," he took hold of Greg's shoulder, "we're all orderin' together. That frog of yours might run off."

It was an animal, after all, and frogs weren't the type to obey commands.

"What! Not Dr. Cucumber. He's a good Doctor." Greg smiled though he stopped looking up at the Barkeep.

"Mashed potatoes!" He threw his hands in the air with an energetic smile before his stomach began to grumble again. He then proceeded to lay on the floor gripping his tummy. "So hungry."

"You just said its name was George Washington earlier," he replies, then pulls Greg back again on his feet. "You stay here while I order. Don't go wanderin' around 'til I get back."

He made his way through the tables of customers until he reached the counter, staffed by a Hypello. Its appearance didn't bother him at all, who was used to seeing a certain blue humanoid creature in his saloon.

"What woulds you likesh to order, Shir?" the attendant asked.

"Uh, well." That voice he certainly didn't expect. "A bowl of mashed potatoes and gravy for the kid," he pointed to Greg, who thankfully was sitting down at that time, "And add some biscuits to that, too. I'll have the stew special." That option looked cheap yet filling.

The Hypello leaned over to get a better look at Greg and spotted the Moogle. "Ish dat boy a Hero of Light?"

"...Yes? Is that a problem?"

"Oh, no, no! Heroesh of Light get dishcounts for their firsht meal here."

Mordecai now wished he hadn't ordered Felton to stay home.

"That'll be nice, ma'am."

Gregory moved to a seat and started talking to the frog as if it would respond to him. His feet lightly kicked the air as he leaned back and forth. There was something to say about boredom except that Greg refused to be bored.

"You know Dr. Cucumber. I think Wirt would like this place. Maybe we can find a way to get home here! Then I can show Wirt! He'd like that."

A pause.

"I wonder if they have hotdogs here or schools. I already go to school at home so I wouldn't need to here." His gaze moved over to his moogle who was sitting next to him with his head in his paws.

"Cheer up there pal! Things are never as bad as they seem!"

Barkeep walked back to the table, thankful that Gregory hadn't run off by now, and took another chair for himself.

"They'll call us out when food's ready," he said as scooted his chair closer to the table. "Now, can you tell me what you've been up to before you woke up here?"

If he heard the boy's story, maybe he could figure out what happened.
elephanthead: (What are words)

[personal profile] elephanthead 2015-04-29 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Gregory was known for wandering but he was also good at following. After all, before now he had been following his brother.

"Wirt and I were going frog hunting! I need to pick a good name for him though. Then we got lost in a forest." Greg lifted up the frog over his head with a smile swinging the creature around.

"There was a talking bird and a beast of the forest but that's alright cuz Wirt was leading us home."
forcegalactic: (Default)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2015-04-29 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"A talkin' bird? That can't be good." Animals weren't supposed to talk normally, and if what he heard from Sparks was correct, mad scientists were the cause of that.

"You don't think that beast there did somethin' to send you over here, do you?"
elephanthead: (Blank thoughts)

[personal profile] elephanthead 2015-04-29 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nah, I don't think so." Greg's head canted to the right for a moment. "Beatrice was showing up to Adelaide! She said she'd get us home."

He smiled his eyes now shifting over towards the counter up front hoping that their food would come quickly. He was very hungry.
forcegalactic: (Default)

[personal profile] forcegalactic 2015-04-30 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
The Hypello behind the counter returned from the kitchen with a bowl of mashed potatoes and rested it on a tray. The stew would be ready shortly.

"Okay, let me get this straight. This bird--Beatrice--was takin' you to Adelaide, who was supposed to send you two back home. An' somewhere on your way, you found yourself here." He picked at his mustache as he thought. "You sure you didn't run into anything? Remember any odd sounds or sensations?"

Did a kid Greg's age know the meaning of the last word he said? Barkeep just assumed so. He normally wouldn't have these sorts of conversations with the youth soccer team.
elephanthead: (I don't know what you say)

[personal profile] elephanthead 2015-04-30 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
He grabbed hold of his spoon and lightly hit it against the table until the barkeep placed the mashed potatoes in front of him. Greg began to hum a song that sounded like he was saying mashed potatoes and molasses before shoveling spoon fulls into his mouth.

He looked up at Barkeep with a smile. "Nope! There was nothing else. I went to sleep and when I woke up I was here!"

Greg really didn't remember anything strange but then his whole journey had been a little off.
