1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.

2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.

3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.

4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.

5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.

7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.

9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility, or maybe you'd like to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Or how about participating in Christmas at Crystallis or fighting in a war for the warriors among you?

13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

[3. Random Encounter]

[Priests were supposed to embody humility and servitude...but Billy had to admit, he secretly enjoyed making an entrance. He drew a revolver in each hand and fired a shot with each, aimed straight for the monster's head. The bullets whistled by the Hero he was rescuing, perhaps disconcertingly close, though Billy had felt he had a completely clear shot.]

If you can't handle that level of monster, you should get back.

[Big talk, probably, for a level one gunner/white mage, but Billy was not too concerned with making an impression on a rash guy who jumped into battles way over his head.]

[personal profile] bright_and_blue 2015-08-19 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha! Says someone who just almost shot me! What would you have done then?!

[Graham has always been an incredibly skilled fighter, and to have all his skill reset to almost nothing was something he was having a hard time coping with. Having someone telling him to get back wasn't going to help.

At least he has his Dragoon jump ability to back him up, and he leaps high and brings the wrench down on the golem hard. The monster is hurt, and isn't amused by this guy. It swats Graham off, sending him flying back a few feet. Graham looks more shocked than injured.]

Ah...Ahaha! You really are solid rock! Something straight from a fairy tale. Well I won't let you attack the fair townsfolk, or raid the castle! I'll be the one to save the princess from your foul clutches!

[He's back on his feet and ready to swing once again.]

[Billy glared at the blond guy. What did he know about Billy's aim. He'd had an opening that was metaphorically a mile wide.]

First off, I didn't almost shoot you. And if I had, I can do this.

[He cast a level one Cure spell. It was more draining than his Healing Light ether, though he imagined it would get easier with practice.]

Permission to shoot it, or are you going to talk it to death?
bright_and_blue: (10)

[personal profile] bright_and_blue 2015-08-20 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
Shoot! Shoot til your heart is content and you knock out all the stars in the sky for all I care! But no shooting me.

[Graham used to be so fast that he could knock a bullet out of the air with his wrench, but he knows that's not the case now.

This won't stop him from getting right up in the face of the golem, who still has its sites stuck on him. That's what he gets for being such a loud target. It swings at him, and he has enough time to only defend himself by stopping his punch with the wrench. Graham seems to be enjoying himself though, grinning ear to ear.]

Getting to fight fairy tale creatures! What a happy story this is! A human such as me, I must be the protagonist of this story!

[personal profile] unetoned 2015-08-22 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
If you're the protagonist, we're all doomed.

[Billy grumbled to himself, but he was more than willing to follow the order to shoot. His revolvers did not seem to make an especial impact on the stone creature, so he reached for the shotgun he kept strapped to his back beneath his trench coat.

His 'big gun' was less accurate than his handguns, so he did have to wait for a wider opening this time. Friendly fire was something he did try to avoid no matter how annoying the 'friend' in question was.]

Get down for a second!

[personal profile] bright_and_blue 2015-08-24 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
[With a mighty yell, Graham pushes the golem off of him and slides out of the way just in time to avoid the creature's fist hitting right where he was standing. He seems to have listened to Billy anyway, and has confused the creature at the same time by ducking and sliding right under its legs. Graham was now mostly blocked from the shotgun's range as well.]

I'm slower and weaker... But I'm still faster than a pile of rocks! Is this even a happy story? I can't even tell, but I'll take what I can get right now!

[personal profile] unetoned 2015-08-26 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
[Billy ignored the blond's ranting. He had bigger concerns. Graham had given him an opening, and Billy was happy to take it. He braced the shotgun on his shoulder and pointed at the creature. The recoil from his first shot hit him with bruising force- odd, he had used this gun for years and had thought he was fully accustomed to it- but he realigned his shot and repeated with the second round.]

Owww. [He winced and protested, but tried to keep it quiet so the mechanic wouldn't hear.]

Think you can take it from there?

[personal profile] bright_and_blue 2015-08-27 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
[There was a sudden clang of metal against the golem from behind, as Graham had leaped high with his Dragoon skill and brought the tool down on the monster's head. With a great shudder, the golem collapses forward and crumbles into pieces and before it can even hit the ground. Graham lands along side Billy, looking very satisfied, but only for a moment.

He looks at the debris, blinking in confusion, and then turns to Billy.]

It... died? We killed it?
unetoned: (huff)

[personal profile] unetoned 2015-08-27 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yes. [He did not understand what the other guy had to be confused about. Billy stowed his shotgun back into his coat, then stepped forward to kick through the rock pile of golem bits.]

Keep your eye out for treasure, or parts to trade. [Billy stooped to grab something promising from the pile, a rock that looked like it had formerly been the golem's eye. Somebody would probably pay a few G for it, he figured.]
bright_and_blue: (frustrated)

[personal profile] bright_and_blue 2015-08-27 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
[While Billy sifted through the remains, Graham falls to his knees amongst it, and carefully scoops up some of the rocks. He looks them over, his expression brimming with sadness.]

S-So fragile! Who knew something so large and full of life could so easily be defeated! I never meant to take it so far. It came after me, and I tried to... I tried... [Graham holds up his wrench and looks at it, a wave of guilt and frustration washing over him. He would have just disassembled it if he could. But with his new Job powers, he isn't as in control of his abilities as he used to be, and he needs to learn to compensate. He leaps to his feet, clutching a chunk of a rock to his heart.]

Is the life of a monster worth more or less than that of mine!? Who am I to say? This land is full of new moral quandaries I was never prepared for! i have really started over from scratch here, not just physically, but also morally, mentally, spiritually! My soul has been stained invariably from this encounter! I'll never recover!

[personal profile] unetoned 2015-08-28 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
[Billy raised an eyebrow at Graham's outburst. The golem was literally a pile of rocks. Maybe Billy would've been more inclined to sympathy if they'd been facing something more intelligent, something that had once been human...but he couldn't afford to feel guilt over killing a rock monster. Not when he'd exterminated -Wels-. If golem-shooting was unforgivable, he was damned to Hell for what he'd done as an Etone...

...and thinking like that was not going to help anything. He wanted to do what he could to help the people here, and having a moral crisis would not put food into any orphans' mouths. Billy shook his head and continued his search through the rubble.]

If you're too stained for this gil, I'm taking it.

[Billy took the coins that the monster had been carrying and pocketed them. Waste not, want not.]
