— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.
2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.
3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.
4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.
5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.
6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.
7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.
8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.
9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!
10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.
11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.
12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility, or maybe you'd like to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Or how about participating in Christmas at Crystallis or fighting in a war for the warriors among you?
13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

Fon Master Ion | Tales of the Abyss
It's fairly late by the time Ion locates his assigned housing. His moogle had given him only the most basic introduction before getting bored and leaving him on his own. Still, the young fon master is pretty sure he at least has enough to go on. And he's sure the little moogle must have had very important business to attend to elsewhere, so it's okay. (Spoilers: No he doesn't.)
Most people probably don't knock on their own doors, but considering that he was only just assigned this housing, Ion feels it's appropriate to introduce himself to his new roommates politely. Especially considering they probably aren't even expecting company, let alone a new housemate. When the door opens, he smiles brightly.
"Good evening! My name is Ion. I've been assigned to live here."
He sounds almost apologetic, since suddenly having a stranger move into your house would be weird for anyone.
"Do you mind if I come in?"
3~
"Hello? Um... yes, please come in." She's still a little awkward when it comes to talking to others but she's more at ease than she had been before.
"It's nice to meet you Ion, I'm Terra."
He'll immediately notice that the family room looked more like a library. Terra's last roommate really enjoyed reading and she's left it as it was when he went into Crystallis stasis.
Re: 3~
His smile brightens a little at his good fortune. She seems really nice. Stepping into the house, he glances around at all the books. It's an impressive collection for such a small home. Of course he mistakes it for hers.
"Amazing! You must really love books, Terra..."
3~
"Would you like tea? I was going to make some." She had been waiting for Tempest to arrive home though this boy seems sweet and she's happy that he's made it safely from where ever the heroes awoke this time around.

He feels silly now. Of course they would put more than two people in each house. The offer of tea is a welcome one as well, and he's a little quick to answer.
"Yes, I'd love some. Um, if it's not too much trouble."
Not having any money means he hasn't had anything to eat or drink since he arrived. Add that to all the walking he did to find this place, and he's actually pretty exhausted.
no subject
She carefully made her way to the kitchen as she spoke. “This house is built for four but for the moment it’s just us.” Her other roommates were gone but she didn’t have the heart to say where they were now sleeping. She stepped into the kitchen, putting on a pot of water and then grabbing a small plate of cookies, cakes and breads. Tempest had made them, if only to fill the house with the scent of baked goods. It’s good to have someone else here to eat them.
She came back placing the basket of treats in front of Ion. “It will only take a minute.”
no subject
He echoes that bit back at her uncertainly. If it's just them, then why does she have so many books that aren't hers? Ion is curious, but he's far too polite to pry. So instead he takes a seat on the sofa. He gives her a grateful smile when she returns with the basket of treats.
"Thank you."
And after selecting a slice of sweetbread, he finally settles on a question that won't be prying into her business.
"So... have you lived here long?"
no subject
Terra came to sit close to the kitchen, listening for the water to boil.
“Ah, yes. My old housemates are gone.”
It made her sad just to say but before her sadness could touch her features the steady whistle of steaming water rung through the family room.
no subject
He's not familiar with the local calendar yet, but he can sense the time in her tone anyway. And since the topic of her former housemates is obviously bringing up some unpleasant memories, Ion decides to let the subject drop. Nibbling on his snack, Ion casts about in his mind for a more cheerful topic of conversation.
"So Terra, what do you do when you aren't fulfilling your responsibilities as a hero of light?"
Honestly he's still not sure exactly what those responsibilities are, but he is curious to know how other 'heroes' are managing them. And most people enjoy talking about things they do in their free time so it should make the conversation more pleasant for her.
no subject
She smiled at that before quickly ducking into the kitchen to fetch the water. It's only a moment that she's gone before returning with two empty cups and the tea pot. It's an herbal blend from her shop which means that it would take a little longer to steep. After five to six minutes pass she will pour him a cup and slide it over.
"Tempest helps me but I mostly work there by myself. I also have kittens that I care for there." Luckily she's been able to find homes for some of her strays. That didn't mean that she didn't keep finding more.
no subject
"A flower shop full of kittens? Do you mind if I visit sometime? It sounds like fun."
He reaches for the teacup and takes a sip, nodding in approval.
"It's very good. The flavor is so delicate."
no subject
"It isn't a big shop..." Though it's made her feel more comfortable here. "Um... is there anything I can help you with?"
Not that she has answers.
no subject
"Honestly, I think I'm still coming to terms with this entire... situation."
He really can't think of a better term for 'pulled out of your world and asked to save another.' He takes another sip of the tea.
"This was.... very unexpected."
Mostly because he expected to be dead. Or maybe simply cease to exist. Either way, this is not the afterlife he had imagined.
"But I suppose it must be the same for everyone here. Just how many 'heroes' are there?"
no subject
Terra looked over at Ion curiously.
"I admit you are talking this rather well."
no subject
"I suppose so. But even though being brought here was unexpected, I can't really say I'm unhappy about it."
That smile turns a little wistful and he drops his gaze down to examine the pattern on the teacup. He's going to miss all of his friends, but Ion couldn't go back to them anyway. His journey with them was over. And while he doesn't regret any of the decisions he'd made in his short life, if he can do some good for the people here, then he's grateful for the chance.
no subject
Though Ion's tone suggests otherwise. Terra's head tilted to the side curiously, her gaze steady as she brings the warm liquid to her lips. A moment passed in silence before she spoke again.
"Do you like cats Ion?"
no subject
"I do! I like most animals."
And small animals like cats or rabbits are especially cute. Who wouldn't like them? Terra must like them especially, considering she was keeping them at her shop.
"Although, I don't really have much experience with them."
