— Reply with a character you wish to test in the game's setting.
— Feel free to use one of the prompts below or make one of your own!
— Tag around! This is a panfandom RP, so don't hesitate to tag both castmates and non-castmates.
— Most importantly, have fun!

1/ Welcome To The World Of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a legendary Hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. It's probably time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred very often this past year-- Maybe the characters who have been here for longer than you may help.

2/ Do You Like Your New Life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think it is possible to negotiate with the Calamity, you could even participate in the research on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest of them all in Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible!

3/ Neighborhood Woes...
The government of Aqures Ixen is sorry, but there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there are no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have be living with someone very cool and maybe an artist of great talent lives next door! It's just not likely.

4/ Crystallis De Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.

5/ A Thing Called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite it to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.

6/ A Thing Called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.

7/ I Believe I Can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can also borrow the Heroes of Light's official Airship, the Enterprise and some characters even have their own airship! You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.

8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore the ancient ruins that may hold some precious information in the continent of ruins. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere!

9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!

10/ Getting Jobs Is Hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe he simply asked you to assist him to clean the laboratory. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.

11/ The World Is Subject To Unrelenting Pain and Suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.

12/ Events Of The Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility or maybe you'd have liked to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have preferred to regain your true powers and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles or chase ghosts for a living. Or how about reliving some of your Worst Memories or fighting in A War for future of the world?

13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

rialynn: (I'm not falling for that)

[personal profile] rialynn 2015-12-14 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Ha, I have no idea.

[She laughs, relieved that she isn't the only one who's completely in the dark about this. Better still that it's a fellow musician who's relaxed and easy to talk to.]

[The larger player slaps down a card, and everyone cheers. So Rialynn raises her glass and offers a 'Heyyyyyyyyy!' as well. She can at least pretend to be excited for the guy since everyone else is.]

So what brings you here tonight? Going to put on a show?
mindofathief: (calm)

[personal profile] mindofathief 2015-12-14 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[He moves onto a more complex, syncopated bassline and plays on for another minute before finishing. He smiles at the fine piece of woodwork.]

I want one of my own to play for concerts, not just for fighting. Wouldn't it be better if I brought something I already knew how to play well instead of having to learn something new?

[But she's right. There's no way he can carry this around while traveling. It's difficult enough to carry it out of his room.]

...Either I can go with something similar to the double bass or pick a completely different instrument. [Another hard choice he has to make. The former is easier, but it's too redundant, and the latter would be more fun but time consuming...]
mindofathief: (ah)

[personal profile] mindofathief 2015-12-14 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[What? Everyone's cheering? Alright, he'll play along and raise his glass as well, looking just as confused as before.

After another sip, he decides to forget learning how to play by watching. It's gotten him nowhere even after an hour.
]

Not really. I wanted to see what the city was like. [Impromptu performances aren't his thing, unless it's for a small group of friends. He needs to be prepared to get on a stage, even after years of concert tours.] This world...it's huge. All that's left of my world was a few islands, and that was it.
circumitus: If you can't drink cheep beer and whiskey with me, I don't want you. (fuck it)

Rey | OC

[personal profile] circumitus 2015-12-16 07:30 am (UTC)(link)
3. Neighborhood Woes
No housing? No problem. It isn't like she needs housing to feel at home, when you're used to not really having one.

More often not, Rey is also used to sleeping on floors. The creature comforts of beds and homes are usually alien practices to her. And while she may have recently spent the last four years in the confines of an apartment, old habits die hard.

Especially when you're a 97-year-old synthetic human who's set in her ways.

That said, it shouldn't come as a surprise to find this particular woman sleeping on a bench. But let's face it, it probably is. Furthermore, she's perfectly comfortable sitting upright, in what would appear to be a rather uncomfortable position.

You know what they say about letting sleeping dogs lie? Perhaps you should just approach with caution... or not at all. Of course, if we went with the latter, we wouldn't have much of a story, now would we?

6. A Thing Called Strike
Not having a nexus device or some line of direct communication is a strange concept to settle on, even to Rey. Where this world has airships and magic, they somehow lacked in actual technological advancements such as a proper network.

Which was fine. It wasn't like she had anyone to call, anyway. But not having any mean of locating information on what was going on in the world when their sole line of contact was on strike was, to say the least, inconvenient.

The tavern wasn't necessarily bustling when the scar-faced woman enters. If she was lost, she at least doesn't look like it as she finds a seat at the bar.

"Why the hell would anyplace bother relying on a 'net so inefficient? Insane."

Whoa!

[After being run into from behind, Pratty can't help but stumble a few feet forward. Once she regains her footing, she instinctively turns around, facing the other person.]

Sorry about that.

[The collision might not have been her fault entirely, but she should have been paying more attention to her surroundings, instead of the white puffball. Come to think of it, this person looked just as lost and confused as she did!]

New here too, huh?
mindofathief: (feeeeeliiings)

[personal profile] mindofathief 2015-12-17 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
[For all the problems the strike is causing, Duster doesn't seem to be affected at all. He calmly chews on his chicken stew and stares at the counter. Letters delivered by hand tend to be delayed from time to time. What can you do but wait for things to calm down.]

It's not so bad. [He swallows his food.] It's easier to send your message to the right place when you can talk to the mail deliverer.
circumitus: She was stuck there, we simply exchanged rides. (it's not like i paid for sex)

oh my god dusterrrr

[personal profile] circumitus 2015-12-17 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
[Rey blinks, almost surprised that someone has bothered to answer her.]

Didn't have to talk to anyone to send messages before-- this. [She waves a hand at her surroundings.]
mindofathief: (meh)

I aim to please

[personal profile] mindofathief 2015-12-17 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
[Duster nods, his expression unchanging.]

Back in Tazmily, we sent letters by pigeon. It's great if you're both staying in the same place all the time, but when you're out on the road, it's impossible to get a reply back. [If he were psychic, he might be able to call the pigeon to him, but that's all conjecture. There's a lot about PSI he doesn't understand.]

The Moogles are pretty great, aren't they? [Companions and efficient mailmen" its more than he could have wanted.]

“Of course I am. I’m your Guardian, right? I’ll always follow you!” He smiled, his voice more subdued than before but with its usual confidence. The urge to apologize for leaving, and then forgetting everything, it was strong but he was just so damn relieved to see that she was here, and relatively? all right.

He had always thought that it was really possible he wouldn’t see any of them again. It hadn’t been something he had accepted so much as chosen to ignore, immersing himself in Blitzball, jobs, whatever he could to keep him from dwelling on the fact. He would have been better even if one of those people he barely knew fighting for Cosmos had been here. They had been enemies and barely interacted, but at least it would have been proof.

He hadn’t liked to think he ever considered Yuna an enemy. But at some point he had, just like at some point he moved closer to her. He wasn’t sure when, but he realized he was afraid. He didn’t want to be separated from her again.

There were just so many words and things he wanted to convey, but they were a messed up jumble, and the only thing he could manage to say to her now without...without crying, was, “I’m really glad you’re here, Yuna.”

Estellise Sidos Heurassein | Tales of Vesperia

"No, come back Mr. Chocobo!"

It seems one princess has some problems with the Chocobos. Every time she goes near one, it seems to high-tail it in another direction the moment she tries to pet it. If she can't even go near one, how can she ride it? Oh dear, this is really a problem.

"Um, would anyone mind telling me how I can just get near one? Is there a special trick to it?" Asks the young woman who seems to have a thing where animals have an aversion to her. She has a concerned look on her face, really wanting to know how she can get the flightless bird to just behave and not run off. Or attempt to bite her.

5

Writing and reading are two of Estelle's hobbies and the fact that it is a form of communication here makes her very happy. So much that she sends letters to random people when she sees their Moogle about.

'Hello, my name is Estellise. Perhaps we have met, perhaps we have not. I am just writing to you in hopes that you have had a good day. If you have or even if not, perhaps we could meet at some point to chat in person. I would very much so like to do that!'

Of course, she's is writing in hopes she's written a good person, but she would like to think that all people at least have some good in them. If not, she can defend herself. After all, she knows how to use a sword!

As a scientist, there's something almost calming about being in a new world. Sure, having no way to get home was a major pain, and the amount of crap that the heroes had to put up with was ridiculous, but the sheer amount of new things she had to study almost made it worth it.

Almost.

There was a large part of her that missed her friends back home, the pink-haired princess chief among them. She doesn't even have to read the letter to know that it's Estelle's, the penmanship alone gives it away. Rita can't find paper for a reply fast enough, and when she finally does, the writing is barely legible, if not distinctive.

Estelle! Where are you?

Rita's in such a rush that she forgets to sign her own name, or ask how Estelle is doing her. As far as she's concerned those are both things that can happen once she sees her friend in person, and the sooner the letter gets there, the sooner it happens.

Twilight hadn't had the chance or the reason to go after a Chocobo, really. As a natural pony, doing so would be counterproductive. Even if Shining Armor would get a big kick out of doing so.

Either way, seeing Estellise have problems prompted the fellow princess to come to her aid.

"Not all Chocobos are that bad." Twilight responded. "From what I understand, the Chocobo Farm owner has a special lure that can bring a friendly one over. Of course, there are many who want to catch one bare-handed."
firstaid: (happy happy)

There's a thrill that comes about her when the moogle comes back with a letter. Oh, someone replied to her! It doesn't matter who it is, just the simple fact that she got a reply makes her more than giddy enough. As much as she wants to rip open her new letter, she's proper about it, taking good care of the letter someone took time to write.

Though once she opens it, she recognizes the scribbles right away knowing it's from her very best friend. Oh, Rita is here, too? She can barely contain her excitement as she promptly writes back.

I'm in the Tarutaru district, more specifically at the library.

Considering the girl's love for books, she knows Rita will likely not be surprised as she sends the letter on its way back to her, waiting patiently to see if Rita either writes back or decides to show up. Perhaps even both!

"For now, I just want to pet one." Which seemed like a fine idea, but now she was discouraged from even that. Of course, needing one to get around was rather important as well, or else she would likely be stuck where she was or find another way of transport. Still, they're such cute creatures, surely one would have to eventually take a liking to her!

"Though perhaps I should look and invest in one of these lures. That may be my only hope."

Even if she had hoped she would get one just by being her usual friendly self.
im_pancake: (4)

[personal profile] im_pancake 2015-12-19 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, there are certainly friendly ones out there. You just have to find the right ones!"

With that, Twilight stepped a little further out and scanned the fields before spotting one. "Hey! Try him. He looks friendly!" she said, using a wing to point out the curious-expressed Chocobo.
firstaid: (huh; oh; realization; I see)

[personal profile] firstaid 2015-12-19 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes, I-I'll try!"

If this kind stranger was going to help her catch and Chocobo (or just help her so she can pet one), she must act on such kindness. Otherwise, it would be rude to believe that all of this was futile. So very cautiously and carefully, the young princess slowly walked up to the Chocobo and reached a hand out to pet him.

And unfortunately the result was the same with all the other Chocobos where it huffed up, flapped its wings in annoyance and trotted off.

"W-why can't I pet any of them?"

Just what was she doing wrong?!

"Beats the heck out of me!" Exclaimed Erika, folding her arms and pouting deeply. "I've tried to get close to the chocobos and they won't let me. It's certainly harder than say, getting close to a cat."

Because a cat and a chocobo are way different Erika. Despite this, the short girl scowled deeply.
rialynn: (Nervous)

[personal profile] rialynn 2015-12-20 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
For concerts, yes, but...fighting?

[She would think most people would prefer to have a weapon in their hands, not an instrument. But that's because she showed up as a Freelancer, and doesn't know that Bards actually possess powers when they play their music.]

Hm. Well, maybe you could do both. Stick with the double bass for now, and try to pick up something new on the side. It'll give you some versatility that way.
rialynn: (What's happening to my world D:)

[personal profile] rialynn 2015-12-20 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
...How do you mean? What happened to it?

[Ordinarily she'd ask for the sake of gathering another fantastic story for her repertoire, but she likes Duster, and considers him a friend. She's asking because this is concerning.]

[Giving up on the game, she pulls back a little. It might be best to speak somewhere quieter in any case, so he doesn't have to yell about a potential global catastrophe to be heard over the crowds.]
mindofathief: (sorrowful tazmily)

[personal profile] mindofathief 2015-12-20 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs.] Tamekichi said that one of my powers is to play music to help everyone else fight better. The other brings back my ability to hit things.

[A musical Monk. And since he can't decide on his own, he'll nod and go with her suggestion.]

Yeah, that's what I should do. There's lots of other instruments I can play. [He picks up the double bass and sets it back into the display. The Moogle holds onto it to make sure it's steady, and the two turn down the aisle, away from the string instruments.]

The question is which one to pick...
mindofathief: (feeeeeliiings)

[personal profile] mindofathief 2015-12-20 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[The middle of a fun competition isn't the best place to talk about past tragedies, especially since Duster was trying to forget the last several minutes before he arrived in Chrystallis. He follows Rialynn out of the crowds, keeping his voice down.]

Long ago, the world was much larger, but humans ruined it all. They escaped to the Nowhere Islands to start over by removing their memories of the old world and creating new ones. They thought they lived in a farming village forever.

[When they are out of earshot of the others, Duster stops. He opens and closes his mouth a few times.] ...I was six when it happened. Even if those memories came back, it wouldn't do me much good.

[While Rialynn is his friend, he doesn't feel like talking about his childhood in public.]

Three years ago, someone else came to the Nowhere Islands from another time. He tried to awaken the Dark Dragon to destroy everything left of the world...and my friends and I tried to stop him...
rialynn: (Play it cool)

[personal profile] rialynn 2015-12-20 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rialynn exhales, glad to see that the stranger wasn't upset or angry. She gives a single nod.]

Yeah. It's definitely no city I've been to before.

[She casts her gaze around, realizing just how many people there are who seem to share the same expression of bewilderment.]

I'm Rialynn, from Schonstadt. How about you?

[It's possible that the girl has heard of the tiny farming village, but she kind of doubts it.]
droopy_eyes: (Who knows?)

[personal profile] droopy_eyes 2015-12-20 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Not a surprise? Maybe, maybe not. But Jaeha isn't really accustomed to seeing tough-looking women sleep like that. Outside. Sitting up. The poor thing must have been exhausted if she'd just nodded off like that. Either that or she was just extremely trusting of the city and its people, thinking that no one would bother her while she took a snooze.

He couldn't say he wasn't a little worried. He approached casually enough, hands tucked into his pockets, leaning forward slightly at the waist. "A bit chilly for napping outside, isn't it?" he remarked.

And if she didn't respond to that, then his worry would only deepen.

[personal profile] mimaikin 2015-12-21 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
"For the last time, I'm not a 'hero'."

The words are directed to a stupid creature that he's learned years ago, in his own worlds and those that weren't, is called 'a moogle'. There was even one in The Castle in the World That Never Was - Isa was quite sure that the opportunistic little beings just went everywhere were they could squeeze even one piece of munny out of someone, whether that someone existed or not. (Not as if that was their problem.)

However, this moogle surprised him by... being a moogle equivalent of Lea.

Or to put it this way: while it hadn't shown any fire-related abilities, it had followed Isa everywhere, even to bathrooms. Therefore if it ever through fireball at his face, Isa wouldn't be surprised. Not much, at least.

"Listen up, you stray. If you accuse of being "a Hero" of Light one more time, I'll show you why I don't have enough of Light left inside me for any heroic antics. I'll take this off and show you how much Darkness I have. Mostly my own at that."

He's pointing to his blindfold while saying it.

Yesterday he finally asked on the Mognet how to successfully kill or ditch one's own Moogle, but nobody's given him a serious answer. Strange.

That's why right now he's standing just outside weapon shop arguing with this pomponned stray of his. To no effect, as the moogle just rolls his eyes at the (mostly) empty threat.

The threat levels are also probably lowered due to the fact that he's subconsciously leaning down to make sure the creature hears him well. He's still not able to make himself talk in anything above the whisper, even after three years of doing so.

She reminded him a bit of memory witch, and that was probably the only reason he stopped to listen of her woes.

"A lure." He said curtly. "From my understanding, you need to buy one. At least, that's how it was on the world where I first saw these creatures."

And then Isa turns to go and leave her. If she has any more questions, she'd better ask fast.
