Test Drive Meme

Applications will open on October 31st at 15:00 EST and close on November 08th at 14:59 EST
— Reply with a character you wish to test in the game's setting.
— Feel free to use one of the prompts below or make one of your own!
— Tag around! This is a panfandom RP, so don't hesitate to tag both castmates and non-castmates.
— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome To The World Of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a legendary Hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. It's probably time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred very often this past year-- Maybe the characters who have been here for longer than you may help.
2/ Do You Like Your New Life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think it is possible to negotiate with the Calamity, you could even participate in the research on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest of them all in Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible!
3/ Neighborhood Woes...
The government of Aqures Ixen is sorry, but there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there are no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have be living with someone very cool and maybe an artist of great talent lives next door! It's just not likely.
4/ Crystallis De Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.
5/ A Thing Called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite it to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.
6/ A Thing Called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.
7/ I Believe I Can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can also borrow the Heroes of Light's official Airship, the Enterprise and some characters even have their own airship! You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.
8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore the ancient ruins that may hold some precious information in the continent of ruins. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere!
9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!
10/ Getting Jobs Is Hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe he simply asked you to assist him to clean the laboratory. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.
11/ The World Is Subject To Unrelenting Pain and Suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.
12/ Events Of The Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility or maybe you'd have liked to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have preferred to regain your true powers and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles or chase ghosts for a living. Or how about reliving some of your Worst Memories or fighting in A War for future of the world?
13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

Tieria Erde | Gundam 00
[Tieria was not expecting strange roommates he didn't know. He probably should have been, considering the circumstances, and he should know better than to think he wouldn't have been sharing.
At least he has his own room? Maybe?
It didn't help that the neighbor was apparently a fan of death metal, and liked to listen to it really loud. Really. Loud. As someone who had slightly more... subdued tastes in music, it was only a matter of time before Tieria used one of these newfound spells to blast a hole through the neighbor's music device.]
=====
7
[Glad to get away from the small, cramped living quarters with unfamiliar roommates, Tieria found himself on an airship headed out on a mission. They were headed north, searching for some set of ruins to find some magical item that Tieria had no idea what it was for or what it did, but he hoped that fulfilling enough of these tasks would finish whatever it was they needed to do to "save the world" so he could just go home again.
He was grumpy. The neighbor's music had kept him from sleeping again.]
=====
13
You pick!
7
It's then that the captain of this particular airship appears on deck, if his uniform and the workers' response to salute the figure is any indication. This man, however, looks like nothing else on Crystallis with his light blue skin, large snout, and small stature that could rival a Moogle's.]
All hands, report. [Several of the hands walk up to Ales, notifying him that all is well and that the weather is favorable. Even if most airship flights are uneventful, Ales enjoys the the moments where he can bask in the calm, orderly way he runs his crew. It's all proof that he's one of the most capable people in the world.
His eyes move to the passengers, particularly to one with a Moogle by his side. An indicator of a Hero of Light.
Well. Time to make new connections!]
Is this your first time on an airship? [He walks up to Tieria with his arms behind his back.]
Re: 7
Wait. He's blue.
He snapped himself out of it, blinking a few times, and then nodded.]
Ah, yes. It is. Have you been a captain of one for long?
no subject
[He holds himself up high. Partially out of pride, partially because he has to at least try to be on a human's level.]
I'm certain you'll get used to it. Even fellows from worlds without 'em think nothing of these ships after a few months!
no subject
I suppose.
[He sighed.]
I do not plan to remain in this world longer than is necessary.
[Tieria had goals, and the main one was getting home, so that meant completing all the steps to finish this 'quest' he'd been dragged into. He turned back to look over the clouds. Airship newbie or not, he gave the impression that being high in the air didn't bother him in the least.]
no subject
[And his cheery demeanor falters, leaving behind a deadpan look. Keeping up that smile got really tiring the past year.]
no subject
I am aware.
[And his voice betrayed his frustration over being essentially stuck in a strange place with no one from his own team, and no way to get back.]
I have a mission back home, as well. Being here only keeps me from that.
[Someone had a strong sense of duty.]
no subject
[If Tieria was frustrated, Ales did not care at all about his own situation or others'.]
If you're angry, you can always take out your anger on monsters. Biggs loves it when we do anything productive.
no subject
...
Interesting.]
I'd like to be as productive as possible.
[Though, going around and taking out random monsters wasn't really as productive as it might sound. There had to be a strategy to these things if they wanted to "save the world".]
no subject
[Ego, much?]
And you, ah...let me guess, you're more of the politician sort?
no subject
Hardly.
[His thoughts focused on what Ales said, though.]
You pilot mecha?
no subject
[He holds a hand over his heart. If Tieria is interested, all the better reason for Ales to impress him.] I'm a Teensie of many talents. Not one human can claim to all that!
no subject
You might be surprised.
[He was no where near as open about his own experiences as Ales was, as it was hard to shed the habit of secrecy that Veda and Celestial Being had hammered into the very foundation of his being, but he was vaguely a little curious just how much 'skill' this person had. Though, Ales comment about humans specifically might be true, not that Tieria hadn't met some very capable humans in his time being active, Tieria's own skills were quite varied by this point in his existence. However, he wasn't exactly human, either.]
no subject
[If this human - he is certain Tieria is one - is an expert in machinery, Ales has to know. Working alone without others interfering has its benefits, but serious scientists and engineers are different. They can accomplish more together. They can build better war airships. They can revolutionize the world.
...He's getting ahead of himself again.]
Like what, for example?

[When she finishes, she turns her head to glance at the purple-haired
man?woman?person who doesn't look all that pleased to be here. She lifts her hand and offers a tentative wave and a grin. They'll probably be working together once they reach the ruins.]Re: #7
He wasn't a very talkative person, unfortunately, so, unless she came over and said something, he was unlikely to approach her.]

[Rising to her feet and dusting off her breeches she moves to join him at the railing, admiring the view and clearly having noooo difficulties at all with heights. In fact, she seems to have brightened far more once they were up in the air.]
Have you been on one of these before?
no subject
No. We do not have them where I am from.
[He did seem uneasy, but, from the way he was looking out over the rail, he wasn't because of the height, even though it was his first time.]
Have you?
no subject
[She grins, leaning forward a little more to get a better look over the railing.]
Whenever I get the chance, really. They're amazing, and fast. I definitely couldn't cover this much ground on a horse in a day.
[Rialynn relaxes and settles back on her heels.]
But we never had anything this advanced back home. So I guess that's something we have in common.
[Grinning, she removes one of her arms from the railing and sticks out her hand.]
I'm Rialynn.
no subject
[He looked surprised.]
I suppose it might be.
[But he came from a world laden with technology... not so much magic. This was an adjustment for him.]
It feels ancient and advanced at the same time for me.
[He had his hands clasped behind his back when she reached out to him. He blinked, almost taking a moment process the gesture before reaching back out to her to awkwardly shake her hand. He pulled back fairly quickly. Nothing personal, he was just bad at polite greetings.]
Tieria Erde.
no subject
[To her, at least, it sounds exotic. The purple hair isn't something she's used to seeing either. To his question, she shrugs a little with a crooked grin.]
It's strange to think of my world as old-fashioned since it's where I grew up. It's what I'm used to. But after seeing a few of these other places, well...what can I say? I went to one place where you could get music with just a touch of a button. No singers, no instruments...just a little box. Pretty amazing!
[When the biggest technological advancements are carriages and muskets, radios and jukeboxes are mind-blowing.]
What about you, what's your world like?
no subject
He didn't quite make the connection of what she was talking about in regards to the music thing, but he just nodded.]
We are more advanced in technology, but we do not have any of this magic they use here. I have not experienced anything like that before coming here.
no subject
[She curls her hand into a loose fist, resting her chin upon it with her elbow on the railing.]
We have legends, and superstitions, but real magic? I'm not sure if it exists in our world or not. I suppose it will if we return home still able to use the jobs on our crystals.
[Now that she's said it, she blinks, considering the possibility for a moment, before her expression sours.]
...That's a disturbing thought...
no subject
[He looked mildly confused. Why would that be disturbing? New knowledge and skills were almost always a benefit, as far as he knew.]
As it is, I am not certain we would be allowed to keep them when we leave, even if we wanted to.
