— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis! You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. 2/ Do you like your new life? No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible. 3/ Ukulele de Chocobo Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo-Bait© so you can go and capture your own. 4/ A thing called Mognet Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here. 5/ I believe I can fly~ You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness. 6/ Exploration Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course. 7/ Random Encounter You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck! 8/ Getting Jobs is hard It all started when you asked Jessie to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone. 9/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering… This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards. 10/ Wild Card Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world! |

Cloud Strife - Final Fantasy 7 (Pre Crisis)
This was a bad idea. This was an AWFUL idea. Zack had offered to ride with him, but no, he just HAD to take the airship instead. He was so excited about the prospect of gaining a new job that he decided to try to prove himself.
The spikey haired blonde charged up to the deck, slamming the door open and dodging around the other people who had gathered there. He hadn't spotted anyone he recognized, but that was only a tiny bit of armor for his pride as he ran for the rail and voided his stomach out into the air below.
8) Getting Jobs is hard!
When he had been asking how to get stronger, Sephiroth had suggested practicing his magic skills. He didn't want to admit it, but he probably had a good point. His physical skills were decent, but he wanted to find a way he could better support him and Zack. Fighting by their side would be good, but some more mage power couldn't hurt, even as a backup skill set.
Still, Cloud had his doubts about the mission he was given before he was going to be taught how to become a summoner. Sneaking into a dungeon full of Tonberries was bad enough, but retrieving something called the "Paintbrush of Souls"? Tonberries weren't artists! They were vicious little murder machines! Why would they even have something like that!
He frowned as he peered down the stairs leading into the worn and overgrown temple before looking back at his traveling companions, "So...what should we do?"
((ooc: or feel free to suggest another :D ))
8 - Getting Jobs is hard!
The tall silver haired man looked over to Cloud as he looked back and asked the question. He gave a look that almost spoke it's own answer, it wasn't as if he were the Jobs-expert just yet and hadn't had chance to take out his map to make sure that they were in the right place yet.
"Are you sure this is the place?"
no subject
"Yeah, this is the place. According to the explorers back in town, there's an art gallery in this place. The Paintbrush of Souls may be in there somewhere."
The only problems were the creatures lurking inside. Monkeys, giant bees and coeurls were bad enough. But it was the stories of the little green creatures brandishing knives and lanterns that everyone seemed most scared to tell.
no subject
The inky blackness was absolute past the first five or six steps and he knew, from experience most of all, that they were only afforded that much visibility inside due to the sun being behind them. As it got later in the day that visibility would decrease and he wasn't so sure he wanted to learn of all the nocturnal creatures of the forest they had found themselves in - just yet.
"Did you ever encounter a Tonberry before, Cloud?"
no subject
"If we follow the right wall, we should be okay for the first part." He murmured to himself as he put the journal away. He unslung his black mage staff as he rejoined Sephiroth, twisting it nervously in his hands. He missed his rifle.
"N-no sir. I haven't. I've heard a lot of things though."
no subject
There was a lot to consider, for sure. But they would only waste time picking apart Cloud's notes.
"Back home, they are quite rare as far as monsters go." Even Sephiroth himself had only encountered them a handful of times in the wild, more often than not facing them in the company training room back at Shinra HQ. "But they do have a deathblow ability that's able to take you out in one stab."
He watched as Cloud wrung the staff in his hands. At the very least Sephiroth appreciated how different it must feel. A wooden staff was hardly a weapon when compared to the full-metal variants that they were all used to.
"I'm sure it's going to take some getting used to. We'll take this slowly."
no subject
"Sounds like a plan, sir. They use knives correct? Then I guess we should try taking them out from far away. Another adventurer told me to be careful and to try to kill as few as possible though. She said that they try to get revenge for each other."
The directions lead the two along. The early passages take them past some local fauna, monsters of the beast and bug variety. A few tonberries scurried about, they kept their distance, simply watching for the time being. It wasn't until they were in the hall that would lead them back outside that the green creatures began to cluster, blocking off the path behind the duo.

Eventually, after much picking about in the dark it ended up that they'd been turned around back to the initial stairwell. As annoyed with Cloud's clearly flawed directions he was, Sephiroth raised an eyebrow at the strange behavior of the tonberries blocking the door. He slipped into a preparatory battle stance, yet did not move just yet.
"Are you sure this is the right way?"
no subject
Two of the pages had stuck together!
Keeping an eye on the tonberries he pulled them apart to find the real information he needed. Quickly scanning the walls, he was relieved to find they weren't actually back where they entered, but a similar looking exit. "We're almost there! Back this way!"
He gestured back down the hall they came, and a door beyond a fork that they hadn't taken. They were nearly there...they might survive this after all.
no subject
Cloud's extended pause, the rustling of the pages of his notebook did more for rising Sephiroth's hackles than the threat of an impending fight hanging in the close air of the hall. He dared to peer back over an armored shoulder at him, a flick of a questioning expression laced with a sting of annoyance crossed the top of his brow. This was what he got for adventuring with an amateur, somethings never changed.
Then, finally Cloud seemed to redeem himself somewhat, and just in time as the first couple of tonberry proceeded to take their first steps towards the pair of them. Keeping a fast grip around Masamune's hilt, Sephiroth retreated cautiously as Cloud led them back towards the fork that they hadn't taken before.
"You'd better be right about this-" He muttered as they slipped through the door. The green little men were still around half the way towards them across the first hall by the time they got there. Already Sephiroth was concerned with their escape route but- they needed to find that paintbrush first.

"Cloud?" After a minute of searching, he found Cloud and what he ejected from his stomach. He felt his own body lurch at the sight and put his hand on his mouth with a quick turn to keep himself from looking at it further.
"Grk." Well, that was new. He hadn't felt sick since he was a kid. He had a dry heave so that wasn't too bad. The bulkhead made excellent support and Zack's hand that wasn't on his mouth braced him. He hadn't realized that he was a sympathy puker until now.
"Let's get out of here." His tone was flatter than he had intended.
no subject
"URgh...I thought...airships...would be better...than trucks."
Chocobos were still an option, thankfully, but he was hoping that he could pull this off and not be as big a burden to the group. Slowly, he inched his way back along the railing, trying to get back to the deck door.
no subject
He turned his head to regard his friend to take his mind off the sudden waves of nausea. "We'll be alright. We'll figure something out." He pushed down the second wave and placed his hand on Cloud's shoulder. "Come on. Let's get some air."
Maybe some air would do them both some good. "Don't worry, your secret's safe." Along the same vein, Zack was in the same boat.
Tag ironically held up due to sickness
He leaned heavily against his best friend as they moved along, "I thought you said you never got motion sickness?"
The deck is fairly open, a few passengers milling about. The railings are only about waist height at their lowest. A few guards keep careful watch at least. At the bow of the ship, the railing surges up into a wall, deflecting the wind off to the sides and protecting passengers and crew from the elements.
*hugs* I know.
"Well, not until I got here. I think it's in the air." He hadn't put two and two together yet that he was a standard, plain ol' human again. The once bright blue mako eyes he had were darker and more natural.
He made his steps slow just to make sure that he was going to be there should Cloud fall.
no subject
"Ugh. So you're not..." He doesn't want to say SOLDIER. It used to mean strength to him, but meeting Zack, it started to mean something a bit more. Something about honor and pride. He remembered the stories he was told about Angeal and it was a shame he never got to meet him.
"So...what job crystal did you get?"
no subject
He pats around himself to find the pouch that holds the crystal. He pulls out the crystal and reads what it says.
"Paladin." It seemed fitting at least. "What did you get?"
no subject
"Black Mage. I dunno, after seeing you guys in action back home, I'm not sure if a sword is the right fit for me."
no subject
"Well, I guess. Oh! That means you can use magic! That's not so bad." Actually, that sounded pretty damn awesome to Zack. Casting spells were not his thing. He was better at bashing things.

"...Sting-?"
For a second he feels his heart leap and hope surging, but of course the closer look betrays the truth. Whoever this man is, his hair, his scent... it's all wrong. It's not Sting, and it's definitely better that way Rogue reminds himself. It's enough if it's just one of them stuck here.
no subject
It takes a little longer before his own eyes can focus enough to register the other person staring at him. "S-sorry," he murmurs while lamely wiping his lips clean with his arm.
no subject
It takes another minute or so until he is sure enough that he won't throw up and dares to reply.
"It's good. I'm not doing much better myself."
How ironic that I got so sick I couldn't tag back a thread about being sick
"My friends told me to take a chocobo, but I didn't want to slow them down for my sake. UGh....how much longer is this flight going to be?"
He focuses on a knot in the floorboards of the deck. Focusing like that helped when he was on a truck back home. Maybe it would do the same here.
D: – I hope you feel better now?
Rogue risks a glance – he's feeling stable enough to dare and curious enough to ask... he's never heard that term before. (After all, from the sound it's sure to be some kind of vehicle or other form of transportation, and therefore likely to land on Rogue's list of things-to-avoid-if-possible.)
He carefully turns his head towards the sky, trying measure the hours by the position of the sun... or at least get a fair idea of how much time has likely passed since they took off.
"The captain said we should land by late afternoon. It's probably another two hours or three."
no subject
"They're a kind of bird. You can ride on them, carry equipment. Some people were asking if they were like horses but I've never seen one before." He grins weakly and rubs the back of his neck. "I guess my home world is more like this one than most people's."
Two or three hours though? He wasn't sure if he'd be able to hold out. Wasn't this supposed to be a FASTER way to travel?
