— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis! You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. 2/ Do you like your new life? No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible. 3/ Ukulele de Chocobo Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo-Bait© so you can go and capture your own. 4/ A thing called Mognet Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here. 5/ I believe I can fly~ You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness. 6/ Exploration Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course. 7/ Random Encounter You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck! 8/ Getting Jobs is hard It all started when you asked Jessie to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone. 9/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering… This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards. 10/ Wild Card Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world! |

you have great muse choice
A fire spell. The girl had already taken care of slowing them down; impressive work for one her age. If he were to assist, using his native element would not be wise.
The tome in his hand snaps open, its pages flipping rapidly before coming to rest on a particular one. Bolts of lightning flared from within the book, falling like rain on the goblin horde.
One detached itself from the group and leaped at him - he sliced the air with his sword and a blue shockwave materialized, blasting the monster back into the horde.
ah - thank you! She's a new one for me.
She looked over at the man again and nodded to him in acknowledgement before casting another fire spell, flinging it to finish off a goblin weakened by his lightning.
are you intending to app in? :'D
Takakage only relaxes once he is sure that all the monsters had been slain. He closes his spellbook, and returns his sword to its strap on his belt.
"You fight commendably, miss." Especially for someone of her age.
I'm certainly thinking about it! Depends a bit on how this month goes irl
"Thank you." She pushes her glasses up her nose (it frustrates her that only some effects of her magic carried over but at least this world seems to have a thorough understanding of lenses). "You as well."
And then she waits, curious of his intentions before she'll lower her guard enough to pick through the bodies for anything useful in addition to proof of their demise.
i'm going to enter with this guy, so yep :'D hope to see you there, then! good luck with rl
She is an adventurer, though. That, he can tell, given the Moogle by her side.
"May I ask your name?"
thanks! good luck to you too. c: I really love the premise so... fingers crossed
"Homura Akemi." She runs one hand through her hair, flipping it back over her shoulder. "Yours?"
But of course the sizing up goes both ways. The sword and the lightning - she surmises that he is either a Red Mage or perhaps has dual classed like her, and his own Moogle, too, tells her he is an adventurer. He looks a few years older than her, but looks can be deceiving. His clothing seems archaic to her, but then again much of the clothing of this place does and whether it is his own or something he acquired here, she cannot tell.
ouo)b
He gives his full name and title in vague hopes that she might know of him. Her name is distinctly Japanese, so there might be a chance, however slim. The statement is accompanied by a slight half-bow, as courtesy dictated.
Homura can use both magic and fighting skills - probably a dual classed adventurer, then. The strategist himself had been given the Black Mage and Scholar classes. The latter is quite an obvious reference to his love for knowledge. While it meant that he sacrificed the potential for more immediate skills, he is content with being a support user.
"Are you perhaps heading somewhere, Homura?"
also damn it. Making me do research already. :P
But she returns the bow in matching courtesy - it's a habit she has mostly curbed here where customs seem to be different, but there's no reason not to be polite. "And yours."
She pauses a moment, debating whether to tell him or not, but in the end she supposes there is no harm. "Once I have collected what I need, I will be returning to town. And you, Kobayakawa-san?"
>:'B
"Likewise. I have been given this 'quest' to search for some materials. Though it seems that what I seek is not in this immediate area, perhaps further away."
He had checked the map, but its scale was a little off. There is still some traveling to be done.
D:<
Having decided that he is not going to be an immediate threat to her, Homura crouches down to begin poking through the goblin corpses, checking their bags. She pulls out a few coins and an unused potion or two but none of them have the item she's looking for on a quest of her own. Still, there are rewards for taking down goblins so she does also collect a few of their blades and give them to her moogle... who puts it in whatever hammerspace moogles have to store things. Still, she does leave some behind for Takakage in recognition of his aid.
"These are not the goblins I was seeking," she states, frowning slightly as she rises. "Have you seen other groups around here?"
If not.... well that means some more traveling to be done for her, as well, though she intends to split ways from him as soon as convenient. And yet... perhaps an ally might prove useful here in case of unforeseen threats.
B)
"I have not sighted anymore goblin hordes, though there are few lupine packs roaming around the area." He flips open his book and consults some notes filed between its pages. "Or... perhaps you are in pursuit of orcs? They have been known to wander to the south, across the river.
Which is, quite incidentally, the direction he is aiming for. His destination is a bit further than that, though.
:P
"I am seeking a stolen medallion. I was told it was taken by goblins. I suppose it is possible they may have traded it to other monsters"
:3
A pause.
"I can assist you with it, if you'd like." But reasonably, of course.
3:
She doesn't entirely like it - she doesn't like working with others if she doesn't have to. (It's not gone well in the past.) But she will if she needs to, and she doesn't know enough about this area to know if everything can be handled itself.
ouo
He flips open his tome and retrieves a map from between its pages. "Goblins and their kin roam around the riverbank, as well as the nearby forest - which is here."
The strategist doesn't continue, though, instead waiting for Homura's response.
ono
"Let's go before wolves come to eat the bodies."
Light Party Formedowo
Party Member Get!Takakage closes his book, replacing the map back between its pages. He follows Homura through the forest, following a path worn into existence by the many adventurers which passed through.
They walked in watchful silence for a while, until the sound of rustling leaves and cracking branches began to sound behind them.
>o<
:|a
There is another rustle from the bushes, and three small rabbits leap out onto the path one by one. They regard the two adventurers with curiosity -
- and start morphing into something four times their size and with as many shape teeth.
He reacts almost instantaneously, and the tome rises into the air, levitating a few inches from his hands. It spins to a vertical orientation and faces the beasts, releasing spears of ice from within its pages.
|=
She launches a fireball at the furthest rabbit monster before twisting to the side to avoid a chomp from the nearest one - still charging despite ice to its face. These things are faster than the goblins, but they seem less flexible. A sword can be swung in nearly all directions, but biting only happens in one.
O:
Two of the rabbits are defeated with ease, but the third is still alive. It sneaks up to Takakage from behind, intending to strike his back while his attention is occupied with one of the other rabbits. The strategist notices, almost a second too late - he twists around and blocks with his sword.
The rabbit's jaws close down on the blade with a metallic ting, and doesn't let go.
