— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis! You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. 2/ Do you like your new life? No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible. 3/ Ukulele de Chocobo Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo-Bait© so you can go and capture your own. 4/ A thing called Mognet Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here. 5/ I believe I can fly~ You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness. 6/ Exploration Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course. 7/ Random Encounter You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck! 8/ Getting Jobs is hard It all started when you asked Jessie to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone. 9/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering… This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards. 10/ Wild Card Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world! |

I'm not so convinced that this is a dream any more.
He hadn't woken up yet from it, and the same was a thought now cropped up again into the forefront of Sephiroth's mind, as he rested forearms against the railing on the deck of the Airship with one hand firmly grasping the Map that his moogle had given him. The currents of air whipped strands of silver hair out and away from his face as he surveyed the horizon, yet they were not yet at an altitude where the wind might pick up more. It felt odd still, to wield a shorter sword which was sheathed at his belt and the red-armored attire of his Primary job really was going to have to take some getting used to.
The first few days he had spent within Aqures Ixen had somewhat bled into each other. There was so much to discover within the extensive districts, each which had their respective functions in a far more specific way than any of the sectors of Midgar were coming together back home. But today was a day for branching out, apparently this Airship would take them to Aerilon where -he had heard all too eagerly from people within Aqures- that there might be some opportunity for better equipment there. Heroes needed the best equipment, after all. Always, always with the moogle whom had approached him upon his arrival at the Fire Crystal. The small, stout bundle of lighter pink fur peered up over it's small glasses from the side of him, if a few careful feet from the edge of the railing itself.
"You shouldn't lean too far out, kupo. You might lose your map."
Sephiroth turned his head to his small companion, as if to appraise for the hundredth-or-so time the fact that the moogle existed, and that his small companion would never leave his side. After a long moment, Sephiroth stood back up straight and took a step back from the edge.
"You're right. Maybe we should go inside."

He was called a hero which boosted his ego tremendously. With his chest puffed with pride, he stepped through the ship with the widest grin. He walked through the porthole toward the weather deck to get some air and to check out the scenery. His moogle finally caught up to the zippy Zack, her chest heaved as she panted.
"Slow down, kupo!"
Zack turned his head to address the floating creature and grinned. "If I do that, I won't see everything." Zack kept his pace quick.
The moogle sighed and her bobble dropped. Her stubby arms couldn't express the exasperation she wanted. "But--oh nevermind, kupo."
Just like that, it was out of Zack's mind to ask and soon he spotted Sephiroth but he looked different. Was it really Sephiroth? He canted his head and stepped forward though his armor was making his presence known. The long silver hair was telling of the hero he knew of in legend from Gaia but this was still Gaia, wasn't it? Apparently not and Zack was oblivious. He thought it was just another strange testing scenario with his senses suppressed. Well, this was new.
"Hey! I didn't know you were a part of this simulation too. Do you like it?" He grinned with his hands on his hips. "I'm ready for this."
His moogle sighed again and shook her head. "Kupo! Zack, this isn't a dream, kupo!"
no subject
Or so he was half-still convincing himself.
The sound of Zack's heavy armor preceded his approach and Sephiroth turned with a swish of long silver hair -which he still wore loose outside of his lighter armor despite the recent uncomfort he was experiencing with it. Pale green eyes looked over Zack, though his expression softened as he quickly recognized the newest 1st class SOLDIER. Less encouraging though, was his comment.
"Simulation?" Yep, this had to be a dream if the Zack present in it were referring to that. The black-haired comrade of his did spend an enormous amount of time training that way; Sephiroth had seen the log-in records.
Meanwhile, Sephiroth's bespectacled Moogle waved it's small paw in the direction of Zack's own fluffy companion.

He rubbed the back of his head with a sigh. "That's the wrong word. I've been cooped up in training for so long that I've kinda gotten used to saying it. It's nothing." He shrugged it off and looked over his shoulder at the passing clouds on the weather deck.
Clover giggled and shook her over-sized head. "I can't understand him either, kupo."
"Hey, that's enough out of you, fluffy." Zack chastised his floating companion.
no subject
Pale green slitted eyes looked over Clover, and seemed to drop further into a frown as they found Zack once more. His tone, as well, dropped considerably with the multiplying confusion.
"Well then, what did you mean?"
no subject
"Don't hurt yourself, kupo." Clover said and she cleared her throat to prepare herself for the explanation. "This isn't a dream, simu-whatever, or something out of a strange story. This is a real place, kupo. You're in a place called Aqures Ixen, kupo. You're brought here because you're heroes of legend, kupo. Heroes reborn, you've got a lot to do, kupo. This means that you'll have to learn your jobs, discover new places and fight lots of monsters, kupo."
Zack stood bewildered for a moment. He always wanted to be a hero and the thought of becoming one instantly seemed to take a lot of thought in the young First Class. "So, this means that I'm already a hero?"
"That's right, kupo." Clover said in her chipper tone.
Here, have a lady Genesis
"Kupo! You could always have it hemmed, kupo!"
Genesis huffed at her moogle, glancing out at her would-be audience and froze. "...Sephiroth?"
Her cheeks went a bit pink and her now gray eyes glanced away. Great, so he was here as well? And he saw her fall over! All she needed was Angeal to tease her and then the day would be just perfect.
no subject
A red mage with ill-fitting robes? Sephiroth refrained from huffing audibly but still he could easily imagine himself eye-rolling. Just what other mundane silliness was this dream going to present him with? But when the girl within them not only spoke his name, but then blushed out of some sort of embarrassment - he was more than intrigued.
Her auburn-hair was reminiscent of his wayward friends' and the resemblance didn't stop there. But it couldn't be- how ridiculous-
"-do I know you?"
no subject
The resemblance most likely continued on when she gave him a deadpan and irritated look at once. "Really, Sephiroth? What, do I need to keep reciting LOVELESS despite how much I know you will just roll your eyes and guess whatever Act I use? I am well aware my eyes aren't the usual mako blue anymore but I doubt I am that unrecognizable."
no subject
That look though. He's seen it before. Not that particular expression for a long time but perhaps it was some off-quirk within the dream that paired it up flawlessly to Genesis' features. And that was before she opened her mouth. It worried him, what the dream was trying to tell him, presenting one he had considered a friend in such a way - that in itself very nearly earned the eye roll, but instead he raised a hand to his forehead and rubbed the centre of it between thumb and forefinger.
"G-Genesis?"
no subject
That kind of hurt. Were the clothes that different? Or was it her eyes? She frowned slightly. She crossed her arms and huffed through her nose. "So is Angeal here as well? Or do you not recognize him either."
no subject
"It's not that-" The silver haired SOLDIER refrained from commenting further. For good or worse his dream was clearly presenting his best friend as a girl. Thankfully she asked another question before he could pick up another sentence.
"If he is, I haven't seen him, no."

Monty, Genesis' moogle, was floating back as well, unsure if he should interfere or not.

5 -- don't mind me
At first he had thought it was just a fever dream, one vivid enough to manifest itself in a fluffy creature of legends and children stories that couldn't stay still. But when he tried to summon his wing and fly, it did not happen. He also had realized that he felt well. The numbing sickness, the gut-clenching feel of his body slowly rotting was gone, but at the same time, he did not have the strength or speed he had all his life. Instead, he was wearing some kind of ridiculous suit and every time he asked the moogle - whom he had dubbed 'Zack' despite her protests - for a weapon, she had scolded him and explained exactly what his Job was.
The argument went downhill from there and now 'Zack' - no, he never did hear her name - was sulking about three feet from him while he walked around the airship, still annoyed that his fever dream has grown so large to have stripped him of weapons. Maybe a new place would be much more willing to accept a scholar with skills in war, or maybe he will wake up from this and carry on with a rotting death. Or maybe he was already dead?
He stopped - nearly causing his moogle to run right into him - and shook the thought from his mind. No. He refused to die. He had yet to find the Gift, he had yet to face Sephiroth, he had yet to be cure. No. Death would be long in coming. This was still a dream brought on by impractical medicines and the works of a hack playing at god.
When he looked around, he noticed that he found his way outside and that he was not the only person to be up here. The long tail of silver hair and the other's height was familiar and as he drew near him, Genesis was certain he knew that man. After all, hadn't he been part of the cause for his own fall? As he drew near to the Silver General, he couldn't help but say hello.
"My friend, do you fly away now?"
Re: 5 -- don't mind me
For all the difference he thought he could make by starting his own research into Project G.
At the familiar voice behind him, before he was about to turn back to come away from the railing, Sephiroth froze. The turbulent winds rose shorter hairs out of his vast mane of silver even as the silver haired warrior turned slowly to face Genesis. Spencer, the bespectacled moogle backed off a foot from just behind Sephiroth's right calf, having fallen silent as if he could also tell the air of uncertainty between the two men.
"Act 3, Line 1"

"Such memory... Tell me, do you remember because you wished or is it because I beaten it in your head?"
no subject
An eyebrow raised lightly as Sephiroth turned to look mostly over a shoulder at the red-head before him. Was he friend or foe now, that they were -if it was all to be believed- torn from the world of Shinra and Mako, of Company secrets and grudges between scientists? As ever, Sephiroth was cautious in letting his thoughts lead him one way or the other despite how he hoped it might be true that they could be truly friends again.
"Is there really so much of a difference?" He tested, smoothly at Genesis' back.
no subject
He thought for a moment, looking and not seeing the lands spread out beneath them as they traveled, thinking instead of how strange this place was. If he was to start over again, to repair the damage done to their friendship, would he do so? Or would he let it burn away like all other things in his life?
A bitter ghost of a smile touched his lips as Genesis sighed, his eyes closing. "Ah... I do not know. After all, what do we ever know especially within our dreams?"
no subject
Before they had both thought to abandon Shinra, and discard his friendship so completely. It was a bitter thought indeed, that it might have all been on purpose. So like a dream to provide him with the resolution he worked so hard towards; Genesis' smile only further drew Sephiroth's attention onto the familiar man now stood to his side. Silver hair being caught in the turbulence some, he turned more to face Genesis.
"That depends on the nature of the dream."

creeps up on you. I mean. um.
"Watch where you're going!" came a snappish voice from behind Sephiroth.
A boy wrapped in the black robes of a mage and looking no older than his mid teens had stumbled back a couple paces and was now glaring up at the much taller Sephiroth. Soren's bright red eyes blazed with ire, and it was quite apparent that despite their difference in stature and that undoubtedly
even as a level 1 fighterhe could probably annihilate the boy in one or two well placed hits.no subject
-and then spread arms in wide circles backwards to readjust his balance after backing into someone he hadn't seen was even there. But he still just about managed not to fall over the smaller boy. Sephiroth spun quickly, to the side some around where the black mage had been before he backed away. Silver hair flailed about in his wake, ghosting how he should have fallen but then settled back into it's rightful place at his back.
"Watch yourself, kid." He didn't quite snap back, but did have the authoritarian edge of an adult.
* ..placed hits, he was unafraid. Wow go me, not finishing that sentence.
"Pay more attention. A warrior can't afford to miss what's behind him in the field." His tone was still cold, and he crossed his arms. Perhaps it was ridiculous of him to be foisting advice (?) or chastisement on someone else but he's been a grumpy tactician for too long not to have that impulse, it seems.
no subject
"-shouldn't be crossing directly behind them, either. Moreso without warning." Sephiroth's retort was sharp and, of course, completely correct in his opinion. The adrenaline quickly wore off and Sephiroth appraised Soren in more detail. Despite his novice-level of a Warrior in this dream, Sephiroth was a brutal judge of character and already the bad body language that the boy was giving off might well make waves in his judgment for a while.
"What are you doing skulking around up here anyway?" He just could help but retain that authoritarian edge, as used to it as he was in being a great leader on Gaia.
no subject
"I was walking to the prow to get a better view of the land below and attempt a more accurate measure of our speed."
no subject
It would take Sephiroth a while to get used to meeting eyes with someone who -for once- had a more vibrant color than his own. He couldn't care less about the frown, it was a fair enough question.
"We're already a little too high for that. There is a lot of turbulence near to the edge." Sephiroth stated matter of factly, in fact that was why he had come away from the edge. He could have stood there gazing out at this brand new landscape for a few hours yet. "I wouldn't suggest it."
/o\ so late on getting back to you with this. I'm sorry!
