Early on, as a boy I picked up swordplay and gravitated towards the use of katana's over the more mainstream use of broader-type swords. I never much liked the balance of them. Thinner blades are much more elegant and shorter, quicker maneuvers can be utilized. As I got older, increasing the length presented an increasing challenge, rather than to accept an easy peak of ability.
Masamune is the longest sword I could wield, without sacrificing the integrity of the steel itself.

Tell me about the blade and it's relevance in your world?

[Have you ever looked closely at the back of his hair? It might look flawless but there are several threads that look as though they are the same length but are actually shorter. It's hardly an exact art, not catching hair especially when it's that long!
...not that he's about to admit that though.]

As for 'feeling cool' - any swordsman worth his salt would struggle to put into words the exhilaration of being put to a challenge. I hope, anon, that you will experience that for yourself.
I'm not a robot.

As SOLIDER, my comrade-in-arms Angeal would likely run off a great deal about how it's all about having dreams and upholding some undefined code of honor. I'm far too much of a realist to be so romantic.
I fight as it's simply who I am, and I'm good at it.
