Applications will open on November 01st at 00:00 GMT+4 (October 31st at 15:00 EST) and close on November 08th at 23:59 GMT+4 (14:59 EST)
— Reply with a character you wish to test in the game's setting.
— Feel free to use one of the prompt below or make one of your own!
— Tag around! This is a panfandom RP, so don't hesitate to tag both castmates and non-castmates.
— Most importantly, have fun!
1/ Welcome to the world of Crystallis!
You have seen reality shatter and collapse around you, in the depths of the void you found a Crystal and now you are in the city of Aqures Ixen, surrounded by Moogles and people as lost and confused as you are. On the bright side, everyone thinks you're a hero! On the downside, they expect you to save the world. Maybe their expectations are a bit too much. Thankfully, you're not abandoned to your fate as a Moogle explains to you everything you need to know. Maybe it's time to get to know your companions in misfortune. Besides, it seems this has occurred past month already-- Maybe some people who have been here for longer than you may help.
2/ Do you like your new life?
No? Well, either way, you better get used to it, to your new powers, to your new house, to the ball of fur that follows your every steps—Who knows, maybe you'll even make some friends here. Besides, even if everyone expects you to save the world, fighting isn't the only way to do so. Maybe you could open a shop to help and properly equip your friends who are actually eager to fight. Maybe you could try and gather people who think diplomacy can stop war, you could even start your own researches on the Crystals— Or you could make sure your house is the prettiest in all of Aqures Ixen. Anything is possible.
3/ Neighborhood woes
The government of Aqures Ixen is very sorry, but it seems there are too many of you Heroes of Light. Hence why there is no free houses left in district dedicated to housing you. This may also be why you're not alone in the house that was given to you. Hopefully you're not living with a mad villain plotting to take over the world late at night, and hopefully your neighbor isn't a singer who doesn't know how to sing. On the bright side, you may have someone very cool living with you and an artist next door! It's just not likely.
4/ Crystallis de Chocobo
Upon arrival, your Moogle gave you a map of Crystallis. This world may be a bit big for you to explore, so why not go to the Chocobo Farm and ask for a Chocobo? These big birds can't fly, but they're much more efficient than horses when it comes to travelling. Maybe it's your first time riding a Chocobo; it might be a good idea to have someone with you in case something goes wrong. Or maybe the old man at the farm didn't have any Chocobos left and gave you some Chocobo Lure© so you can go and capture your own. You can find details on Chocobo Capture here.
5/ A thing called Mognet
Hopefully you weren't used to Internet and cellphones back home. Otherwise, you might be a tiny bit confused when your Moogle returns to you with a stack of letters. Or maybe someone else's Moogle is coming to you with a voice message it learnt by heart and is now going to recite to you with a lot of Kupo. That's how the "network" works here.
6/ A thing called Strike
In spite of how old-fashioned it is, Mognet is very useful and odds are that you may have become dependent on it. Hopefully not, because one local tradition seems to be Mognet Strikes. Nobody knows any more whether the Moogles have legitimate reasons to go on strike or if they are just lazy. But today, Mognet is down, and to get information you have no choice but going to the public board in the third district or in taverns.
7/ I believe I can fly~
You are on an Airship! Airships regularly depart from Aqures Ixen and stop by most major cities in the world, so they're the perfect means of transportation for you to go and explore this world. You can go anywhere in a matter of hours — One can only hope you don’t have motion sickness.
8/ Exploration
Enough expository banter. Now is the time to explore. Maybe rather than spending most of your time in Aqures Ixen, you'd rather spend it living in Balicea, or betting on Chocobo Races in Trano Golsaucia. Or maybe you'd rather go and explore some ancient ruins that may hold some precious information. With Airships and Chocobos at your disposal, you can go nearly anywhere that isn't under imperial control; unless you have a death wish of course.
9/ Random Encounter
You were minding your own business walking around, and suddenly monsters attacked you! Time to put to use the skills you've learned with your Jobs! Alternatively, maybe this encounter isn't random at all, and you have been sent on a mission to kick some imperial asses in the war confronting the Heran Empire and the Republic of Esdham. Good luck!
10/ Getting Jobs is hard
It all started when you asked Cid to give you a new Job. What could and should have been a formality, quickly turned into a trial. All you wanted was a Job, and here you are in the wild, hunting for a Malboro Vine. Or maybe you are in some ancient and decrepit ruins looking for an artifact. Or yet again, maybe she simply asked you to assist her in her researches on the Crystals. Getting new Jobs is not easy. Consider yourself happy though, at least you don't have to do that alone.
11/ The world is subject to unrelenting pain and suffering…
This is why you should play a game. After all, there are things a lot more important than saving the world: Blitzball is one of them. Triple Triad is another. Why don't you take a break and do something different for once; anyone wanting to play Blitzball is given a special potion allowing them to breath underwater, whereas someone who wants to play Triple Triad should have no difficulties finding veterans more than happy to get rid of their low level cards.
12/ Events of the Past
Missed an event you would have liked to participate in? The Test Drive Meme is the perfect place to play this event without being restricted by the game's chronology! Maybe you would have liked to capture a Chocobo during Crystalis de Chocobo, maybe you would have liked to be lost and attacked from all sides in the creepy Magitek Research Facility, or maybe you'd like to celebrate the Christmas of Crystallis. Yet again, maybe you would have liked to regain your true power and subsequently be on your path to death, as in The Night of the Thirteen Moogles. Or how about participating in Christmas at Crystallis or fighting in a war for the warriors among you?
13/ Wild Card
Don't like the options offered here? Go crazy and choose what you want to do in this world!

Cid Highwind | Kingdom Hearts
Upon feeling the cords of his world unraveling around him for a second time, the first thought in Cid’s mind is, ‘Not this again.’ Surrounded on all sides by nothing, the appearance of an unfamiliar crystal gives him a goal: reach the foreign object. Then he focus on the torment that is existing in empty space. The crystal proves to be his saving grace as he is instantly jarred from what he swears is nothing more than a nightmare. It is not until he breaks away from the mass of Moogles post-history lesson, and wanders the nearby streets, that Cid begins thinking the nightmare is far from over.
“I’m no hero,” he repeats to his Moogle for what feels like the hundredth time. The creature doesn’t believe him, citing his red crystal as proof of his champion status, but Cid knows better. He’s an engineer whose specialties include building ships, delving through computers and writing code. The battlefield is best left to Squall and the gang, and Sora, Donald and Goofy.
The Moogle barely dodges the hand intending to wave it off, and dutifully follows the man, asking, “What are you going to do, kupo?”
Irked that he cannot escape his nosy follower, Cid answers, “Look for someone I know. There’s bound to be another poor soul stuck here with me.” He’ll take anyone at this point, even if they have a Moogle attached to their shoulder too. They’re alright creatures, but he’d appreciate it if this one would get off his back.
“I can help!”
Despite the Moogle’s sincerity, Cid dismisses it with another wave of his hand. He doesn’t even spare his companion a glance. “No thank you! I'll find 'em the old-fashioned way: with my eyes.”
[OOC: I can adapt to writing styles (prose/bracket) so don't worry about having to match this.]
Re: Cid Highwind | Kingdom Hearts
Yuffie happened to show up just to get that shot in and it was totally worth it. She grinned at Cid, her palms on her hips. She will never admit that she missed the sexist jerk though she'll quickly find out that this is the Cid that Sora knew and not the one she knew from Gaia. Even so they looked the same and he has a moogle too.
Mooshoo, Yuffie's moogle, flew behind her and he looked very tired. Which was most likely to be expected when it came to teaming up with the greatest ninja of all time.
no subject
While waiting for her to reply, he eyed her accompanying moogle with mild mirth. It looked like he would keel over at any second, matching imperfectly with his charge's enthusiastic personality. The incongruity was amusing.
no subject
She puts her hand over her eyes as if to look around their little patch of the city. "I don't see any.. except maybe Mooshoo." She pointed back to her moogle without even looking at him. He was actually very old for a moogle and while he looked tired, it was only because he was patiently ignoring Yuffie.
"What do you think Cid? OH! CRAP! You don't know! This is going to be great!"
Yuffie really can't stop from smiling. She hadn't seen Cid in over a year and he might not know that there was another Cid in town who was just as grumpy.
no subject
"What's gonna be great?" he questioned, folding his arms over his chest. "And what don't I know? If it's about the hero stories, this guy filled me in." He jerked his head in the moogle's direction.
"Um," the moogle interjects calmly, "I'm not a guy, kupo."
One eyebrow raised, Cid gave her a brief look before correcting himself. "This gal filled me in."
no subject
Yuffie pointed it out as if it wasn't obvious. "And yeah," She's a little calmer now. Sorry Cid, she was far to glad to see you to not make fun of you.
"There is someone else named Cid here too. I thought it was you but it wasn't because he was working on some great airship." Yuffie flailed her arms to either side as if that might indicate the size of the ship.
"And Tif's here, and a really young Cloud and Vincent and Sephiroth too but he's less killy but just as moody and..." She probably forgot someone but it didn't matter because Cid was there!
no subject
He was glad to know Tifa and Cloud were present, but... "Who're Vincent and Sephiroth?" He searched his memory to try and put faces to the names, but neither ring any bells. They were complete enigmas. With a sly smirk on his face, the man leaned forward, flicked his toothpick between his teeth and said, "Your imaginary friends? Ain't you a little old for this?"
no subject
"Oh no. You don't know which means... shit." Her palm went to her head and she cringed. "You really don't remember? Sephiroth? Bent on destroying everything? Vincent... ruler of being weirdly creepy for now good reason sides the fact that he wants to punish himself for the stupidest reasons in the world."
Yuffie should never be allowed to describe people.
"That means you're from a different time or different universe..." This has happen before. "Shit. shit. shit shit."
no subject
"Watch that mouth of yours! I oughta wash it out with soap." He was serious too, his eyes daring her to challenge him. "I don't know what you're talkin' about, but what's this about a creep? Is this Vincent guy givin' you a hard time?" He raised a fist from his folded arms to hover just above his elbow. "Say the word and I'll have a niiice long chat with 'im."
no subject
"No, it's not like that!" There was another list of people Cid would have to punch if he wanted to find who was responsible for the habit of Yuffie swearing. She pouted, putting her palms on her hips. "This is so complicated and why would you wash out my mouth! You aren't my dad!"
That would be weird.
"Man this is making my head hurt."
no subject
"Alright. You know anyone who can explain what's goin' on here?" How he missed Squall's calm, straightforward personality at this time. He would get this done.
no subject
"I can." She's grown up some and if he really wanted to know what was going on she didn't mind explaining it to him. "..but it's a really long story. Can we... like find a place to sit?"
If not Yuffie was going to plant her butt on the ground.

"If you say so! I'll think about it, then."
The moogle nods sagely. "You should be thinking about this more at your age, anyway, kupo! Besides, all those nice girls you've met and you just let them baby you, really..."
That earns a genuinely puzzled look. "They do not!" (They do.) "And what's this have to do with--" Ven breaks off as he looks past her, noticing the unfamiliar Hero and the moogle trailing after him. Ah... he's seen this scene before. With a quick word of apology to Mograe, Ven steps around her to jog after the stranger.
"Excuse me, sir! Are you new?"
no subject
"I suppose I am," he replies, looking down at Ventus with a sharp stare. His moogle, bless her, has already imparted her knowledge but Cid won't be placated until he speaks to a person. "The name's Cid Highwind. I'm lookin' for some friends of mine: Yuffie, Leon or Aerith. Cloud or Tifa'll work too." He sniffs idly. "You know 'em?"
no subject
"Oh -- yessir! Cloud's a friend of mine." He gives the area a cursory glance as if expecting to see Cloud hanging around nearby as they speak. "I haven't seen him today, but he's around! I don't think I've heard of the others, though. Sorry."
no subject
"Now we're gettin' somewhere!" he says as if his moogle hadn't been any help. He ignores the quiet, gloomy sigh from his companion in favor of asking a question. "A friend of Cloud's is a friend of mine. What's yer name, kid?"
no subject
And talking, Ven will certainly do. "Nice to meet you," he continues. "I haven't been here as long as Cloud has, but if there's anything else you want to know, I'll try to help!"
no subject
"In fact, there is somethin' I'd like to know. You know anyone with gummi blocks in town?" His confidence that gummi block are common knowledge will come back to bite him eventually.
no subject
no subject
"They're the foundation of gummi ships! Ya can't have a gummi ship without gummi blocks. Judgin' by how squishy they are, you'd think they make a weak ship." He shakes his head and flicks his toothpick. "Wrong! They're hard to break down. Put the right blocks together and you got a near-indestructible vessel perfect for space." The man's chest puffs up in pride. "If I can get my hands on enough blocks, I can build one and get goin'. Got things to do elsewhere."
no subject
"You might be able to find somethin' useful at the port, though," he adds. That's his best guess, anyway. "Maybe someone there has heard of 'em."
no subject
Cid regards her calmly but the look in his eyes suggests he's still not going to trust her. He chooses to question Ven rather than follow his fuzzy accomplice. "Sounds good! Which way's the port? And where can a guy get a map?"
no subject
"One moment, kupo--" After a moment of digging around in her bag, Rae produces a folded piece of paper -- a little worn, but not too much -- that Ven takes with a word of thanks.
"It's a map for most of Crystallis, not just the city," he tells Cid. "Some areas are missing since we can't get there, but it gives you a good idea of the area around here. You can borrow it if you want!" It has a few handwritten notes of his -- mostly monster locations in the plains around Aqures Ixen; note-taking is a useful habit he picked up from Zelda way back -- but it's readable.
"And the port's this way," he adds with an indicative step down the street. Unless Cid shakes him off, he'll plan on leading the way.

"See? You found one of your friends!"
"Tsk"
"I told you! Everything is going to be fine!"
Ignoring his companion he approached the older man with the ghost of a smile on his face. "Cid?"
no subject
"Where have you been? I've been waitin' for hours!" he complained further though it hadn't been long at all. Leon must have arrived shortly after he did. Cid nodded his head in the direction of Leon's new friend, adding, "I see you got one of them followin' you too. That's two more mouths to feed."
